Magnacut is truly an impressive steel. It sharpens really nice and it is easily honed back to sharp on a simple ceramic stone. It doesn't rust. When its treated to 63-64 rockwell it holds an edge exceptionally well but looses out on some toughness. At 60-62 rockwell its a really tough steel. Its wild how much of a difference a few rockwell makes for magnacut.
Thank you fro the straight forward, logical and well spoken review. I really like the F6 but hated the G10-too slick for me. I just ordered an F6 in magnacut with the micarta scales and am really looking forward to it! I have had a few F5's and F4's. The F6 is the best for my uses. Thanks for sharing!
As much as I like the F6, I personally think the stock is too thick for its own good. If the stock was in the 5/32 (0.15) area and not the current 3/16 (0.19) area I would have a harder time not buying one. Magnacut is an interesting steel, I do not have any examples of it but I have read a lot about it (namely the tests and reviews). The steel is balanced and that is its greatest strength.
I hike in bear & coyote country. I don't always have a gun on me... Is that finger guard on the Reiff F6 enough to stop your hand from sliding up the blade?

@@johnsmithfakename8422 I can get behind that, a bit thinner is acceptable to me as well

Absolutely!
I would see an even wider blade to be used as a shovel almost. a few inches longer for a survival knife
aparently magnacut never makes sense :D
Too large to be practical
Thanks for your thoughts!
If you have small, soft hanks IT is. Otherwise the perfect knife!
