There are but a few days left before the World Championship match in Dubai between Carlsen and Nepomniachtchi, and more and more experts share their thoughts on what may happen there: are we going to get a new Chess King, or will we keep celebrating the current one?
Levitov Chess gathered the takes of the two most reputable experts on the subject, namely, the fourteenth and fifteenth World Champions, Vladimir Kramnik and Vishy Anand.
Carlsen's predecessors on the throne share the opinion that the match won't be easy at all for either Magnus or Ian. They analyse the match through the lens of their own experience, when they were both challengers and champions... together with their own experience of playing against the two contenders, with whom they played a good deal of games.
"Nepomniachtchi's style isn't that easy for Magnus, if Ian manages to put pressure all the time by creating sharp and tactical positions... Then he will have a chance!" thinks Anand. "But Magnus isn't an easy opponent by any means, and nowadays he isn't who he used to be, looking to squeeze water out of a stone for hours and hours... Now he doesn't look for clarity all the time anymore, he continuously improves as a player, and he became quite a universal player."
"The match is going to be very interesting, in particular, I believe, the first three or four games, that shall to a great extent determine the course of the match according to Kramnik. When you're under pressure and you don't know what to expect, it's not easy to find your marks, for that matter it's very important for the challenger to get into the match as quickly as possible, to feel at ease. If Ian manages to go through this phase unscathed, the match won't be easy for Magnus."

When real professionals and friends speak...
What left with us is just admire them all..!!😊👍
"look, If I knew how to beat Magnus,. I would have done it myself..."😂😂
these two have ruled the chess world for 10% of the last 130 years of world championship history . what a legacy !.
That's a really runabout way to say 13 years. Anyhow, Magnus alone has been World Champion for 6% of the last 130 years...
@@matthewviramontes3131 Although Magnus became world championship in 2013 he was World no 1 to 3 since he was 17.5 . Taking that it to mean he has been top3 of the world for past 13.5 years. So i mean more than 10 percent . Kasparov would be 22 percent.
@varun reddy Mothe and Lasker alone ruled longer than both of them.
Probably one of the best chess interview ever. Giving them enough time to speak ,too the point and great questions.
good to see two of the greatest in history are close friends
Congratulations to Levitov for bringing us these interviews about the coming match, with two great chess world champions, friends and gentlemen.
very cool in depth interview with two legends, thank you for the english content
one of best Chess interview. the word 'Interview' is very well justified here
Because Magnus Carlsen is a universal player, in world championship matches he can adapt his style to whatever is disadvantageous to his opponent. It would have been madness to have engaged Anand in complicated middlegame positions with smashed pawn formations and sharp tactics, because that is Anand's game.
What an amazing interview and Dialogue with two epic Masters as we cascade towards the championship.
Timely & Insightful. Wow!
Pretty sure you scooped the international press.
Bravo.
Great Video. ! Great to see Anand and Vlad.!
Ilya, your chess content is fantastic. Thank you for your work, and hopefully it's bringing you enough in return that you can keep this up for a long time to come!
Thanks for the beautiful interview
Big Vlad ... "Now as a chess amateur" ... Ok, boss. If you say so.
14th and 15th world champions discussing about 16th world champion and if ian can become 17th one.😁
Great interview and deep thoughts by legends
Great content Levitov keep going
If Anand played 6 matches, then Botvinnik had 1 more at 7. Of course Botvinnik tied and lost a few of them. Bronstein 51, Smyslov 54, 57, 59, Tal 60, 61, Petrosian 63. And these were 24 game matches IIRC. My guess is that only Kasparov compares with the long series of draws before the match was abandoned without a result at 48 games. It broke the Capablanca - Alekhine record of 34 games in 1927.
Kasparov played 5 matches against Karpov, 144 games. He then played Short and Anand, two more matches. Then Kramnik beat him, for 8 matches total.
Very cool interview :)
Как же все-таки здорово, когда бывшие прямые соперники так дружелюбно друг с другом общаются.
I like Vlad he is bigger than what he showed to us in his games, fantastic player !
Magnus always takes the low risk approach. He takes a small advantage and converts it into a seemingly simple victory. His positional play is on par with Karpov and his determination is only rivaled by Fisher. Magnus will win and make it look easy.
magnus is a better player than karpov
@@avikmukherjee2987 no he isnt
he wont make t look easy because he couldnt make it look easy against karjakin...or caruana
@@jadezee6316 Magnus is, without any shadow of a doubt, a better player than Karpov. There's simply no comparison - they're both from different eras. Knowledge of the game has increased radically over the past few decades, most notably as a result of computer engine analysis. I don't say this to discredit the achievements of Karpov, he was a brilliant positional player in his time.
@@jadezee6316 No Magnus isn't better than Karpov, he is Much better.
Magnus confirmed that when he was 13 years old and beat him.
And of course engines, chess is evolving etc etc.... That's why Magnus isn't just better than Karpov, he is the Goat.
tbf the version of magnus that anand played is the favorite version of magnus himself during 2013 and 2014 . he has definitely come down a bit from his highest peak
magnus has a gr8 chance at this
love vishy and kramnik
Does anyone know what particular game they are referring to at around the 11:15 mark? I'd like to see it for myself, if someone would be so kind as to direct me to it.
sorry for being late but here you go ruclips.net/video/vhJRebuRhEs/видео.html
Magnus breathes 🔥
The real question is: Is Dubov on Nepos team? The only one that can beat Magnus?
@@Bruh-uo2se Last years it has been Dubov who was the bigest threat, atleast in blitz (and maybe SO aswell)
@@postmasterpez that was blitz or rapid... Don't compare with classical Chess lol 🤣🤣
Funny, looking back (after the match) it's even more interesting to hear the "predictions" of two of the legends and former world Champions.
I think the most dangerous oponent for Magnus was (and would still be if allowed) Sergei Karjakin. And FIDE is a disgraceful organization so much involved in politics (and supporting the western= USA's view on the matter)
And if I were a Russian I would come to all the matches and especially to the opening and closing ceremony wearing a t-shirt with a national flag on it (or similar) since it's not allowed as an official symbol. And at the press conferences I would at least once before answering the first question sing my national anthem (probably after winning a game)
what french online game were anand and vlad were talking about ?
No castle chess. They played 4 or 5 game match.
