this is why i personally don't use pain killers during my period (unless it's an 8 on the pain scale). my body is telling me to chill, and i feel like if i ignore it those feelings then i will artificially feel like i can 'get more done' and that mindset will lead me to be burnt out. great video.
Ommggggg the tampon ads with the olympians don’t get me startttedddd I always think about how these companies profiting off of our natural processes don’t even understand our bodies😭😭😭
literally, like my mother grilled it into me since the first time I got my periods that I should never use painkillers until and unless the pain is like hospital level bad, never knew how useful it was until recently
im 16 and i loove your channel, i lost my mom at 12 and decided to take it upon myself to learn more about this stuff and about self love and wellness and im learning sososo much from you, so thank you!
I’m so sorry to hear that 🥺 she would be SO proud of you for taking on such a life long, (sometimes confusing) responsibility at such a young age 🥹❤️ you are amazing 🦋
Because I started eating HEALTHY, no diet or crazy restrictions... My period is no longer painful or lasts as long as it used to. I can still workout on my period. I do have days when I don't feel like it and I'm sore, so I take a bubble bath and sit my ass down somewhere. This happens after a tuff gym session or long day at work, its never because of my period. Things like sugar and carbs is what I cut out ( I was struggling with high blood sugar 3 years ago) and ever since I cut that stuff down/out my periods have been so much better. I still eat pancakes, pasta, cake... but its protein pancakes, banza pasta, or homemade cake make with sugar alternatives. If you feel a lot of pain or wicked mood swings it could be your diet or something that may need to be checked out by your doctor. I had a friend who was always angry and in a lot of pain and finally she went to the hospital and found out she had endometrioses. She was able to get it under control instead of just accepting the pain once a month.
I honestly just need to remember that I get super anxious and depressed right before my period starts. lol I forget EVERY SINGLE MONTH but it all stops when it starts and it's like... "oh yeah, this was coming" alongside the obvious crippling cramps.
I love how you mentioned about us women taking our own responsibility around 16:48 because it gets tiring seeing other women not take their matters into their own hands. I have PCOS and I've done my research and am doing my best to understand what is happening to my body. I have already lost 10 pounds and wish nothing but the best for my fellow females
I love this! I might be addicted to your channel 😅 Please keep doing what you are doing because it means a lot to me as the 'big sister' in my family who had to learn everything the hard way. I am 22, I grew up with a male perspective, masculine style, wasn't in touch with my feminine side for so long, and I even denied that side of me. But I am finally getting in touch with it again.
This video is literally so helpful. Recently I’ve been going through my follicular phase - I know this because I’ve been really focusing on my goals for 2023 ect and I was so confused why I get this random burst every month and then I’d get really depressed after it died down because I didn’t understand it. I’d think I was starting to fail, fall into bad habits and it would send me down a spiral. This was so good so thank you. I hope more people see this video!
I love when women spread awareness of the true natural menstrual cycle you are so beautiful and are so good and speaking and explaining keep up your work and love !!
I havent tried flow but the app 28 is soo good. It tracks your period and tells you what phase youre in then gives you suggestions for food and workouts that are good for your body. my friend and I just got into learning about all the different phases
Aha! Thank you for this video!! It's so funny, since I've been tracking my cycle I've noticed my husband CANNOT keep his hands off me during my summer/ovulation phase. It's the cutest thing. 🥰
While my daughter is only 10, your channel is the type of channel I'd be happy for her to overhear me watching...and someday for her to watch, instead of the other meaningless shows out there
i wish you video included visual aids like title cards or if you showed a calendar with the days highlighted. i feel like doing some video-editing would really make a video like this pop for a bigger audience
Thanks for the feedback! Definitely plan to incorporate more photos in my videos, but with this one, I think it’s easy enough to search up each cycle phase, and please remember that I’m not a educator on this topic, this is just what I’ve learned & what’s helped me :)
Interesting enough. My cycle is around 14 days, because I inject my estrogen (I can't produce it naturally) once every 14 days, so there was for a while a taper off towards the end of each cycle and I had to figure out how to get used to that. But it does depend on the person, and I've heard other women who are on hrt basically gain menstrual cycle symptoms in a similar time frame, without actually menstruating. It also depends on the method of taking the HRT, such as the difference between daily E pills vs weekly or biweekly shots. There's also variation in the different variants of synthetic estrogen, such as estradiol valerate.
also ladies, this is some advice my grandma gave me, don't wash tour hair the 1st 3 days of your bleed, it makes your cramps worse, idk the science behind it but it really works
Thanks for making this video it was really helpful I never knew we have phases and all I just knew about period and that's it thanks for making this it really helped me get to know us woman's body how things works
For me having my period was a living hell. Sleepless nights, In pain crying, taking pain killers every single day, tired and wanting to kms. I know it sounds so dramatic but being on my period wasn’t so ideal. Also, the fact that i would try to work out and eat healthier and better myself. Nothing worked. I finally took matters into my own hands and finally got the bar. I’ve never been happier! I wish i could be like those strong woman who enjoy having their cycle. I cant be that person rn sadly 😢
That's PMDD. It kills 1 in 6 women who struggle with it by suicide. It's not talked about enough for how terrible it is. It's often caused by childhood trauma and stress in your day to day life.
I'm so sad you feel this is dramatic. Some people have horrible periods so you're very valid!! If you want to look into it further, I really recommend looking into endometriosis and PCOS (its always good to read up on what other womens' experience have been with both too because the medical industry can be a bit average when it comes to female healthcare).
thank u sm! it was so eye-opening. Never heard about this in such detail and in correlation with social life and productivity. Really helpful and insightful information ❤
Omg I needed this video, I have been trying to figure out things in life and I was close but never through it, it's amazing how this was the unlocked door Came to this vid through the "women of my dreams" great work. Subscribing. Love ya. Keep on the great work. May god bless you and all trying a shit at life. Amen
I just had a baby and i dont want to get pregnant again for a few years, do you have more info on how to have a regular sex life while not getting pregnant 😬 i was given the pill BC from my ob but i really do not want to start that journey again. I used to be on the vaginal ring BC and got off of it because it made me feel so weird but then a year later i got pregnant and I can’t repeat that cycle. Obviously we’ve been more careful since having our daughter but idk if it’s enough. Ps i am breastfeeding so I haven’t gotten my period yet to track
My best tip is condoms, if you don’t want to use BC. Also tracking your period over time (I know you said you haven’t gotten it yet) but once you get more regular you can see when you’re ovulating and use extra protection, or avoid intercourse around that time, as you are way more susceptible to pregnancy than any other phase during the month! I would suggest you go to the business of birth control website. They have a website of a lot of different resources and you can educate yourself more on the subject because of course I am not a doctor. ❤️

I do the same!! I really try not to resort to these pain killers, because honestly it’s not normal for our bodies!!

@@pk-we2mp Olympian women often don't even have their periods because of their training and diet...
literally, like my mother grilled it into me since the first time I got my periods that I should never use painkillers until and unless the pain is like hospital level bad, never knew how useful it was until recently
Same. I only use ibuprofen if the cramps are keeping me from sleeping. I try to use no more than 1/period
