  • Hi everyone! In today's video we chat (for a long time) about cycle syncing, how to deconstruct the hyper masculine wellness routines we've learned over the years and how to live a more cyclical life as females. I'll be showing you what I've learned over the years of embracing and learning more about the female cycle and how I like to navigate life through cycle syncing and better understanding my body. I hope you enjoy 💗

In Mexico, a lot of bathrooms especially out towards the mountain/ country areas, instead of a man/ woman symbol we have the sun and the moon because we are literally sun vs. moon energy. Men’s energy rises and sets every day like the sun, very stable whereas women’s energy fills and wanes on a cycle like the moon.

Pro Tip: Something I do right before is start taking beet root and iron supplements. Along with this, I increase dark red foods and drinks. Things like pomegranate juice, beets, cherries, red grapes, etc. These really, really help with energy once my period starts. It also helps lessen cramps and keep your iron levels up once the bleeding starts. This is especially helpful during this time if you tend to get dizzy or are anemic.

One BIG tip if you have cramps (changed my life) : instead of staying in bed or couch waiting for it to calm down, just go for a long walk (1 or 2 hours, 3 if you are used to walk. If not at all, 20 minutes is better than nothing). I know, it is the last thing we want to do when we suffer from cramps. But it is absolutely insane how well you will feel after. I tried yoga : the pain is back after an hour or so. With walking, the pain is not back until the day after ! Well it is my experience at least, and I have another friend who had discover the same. And we don't understand why nobody has told us that before !

Crazy because my recent updated self-care tips for your period video I was talking about how walking is so good for your cramps and even low back pain!! You are so correct!!!!!❤️

I enjoy period care! I recite affirmations daily related to worthiness, being a woman, and being on my cycle. I increase my focus on my body & emotions to help guide me properly. I meal prep with heavier portions the week before & lighter portions during my menstrual. Make sure my basket is stocked up with my feminine products. More dance & art sessions the week before. More yoga & nature walks during my menstrual. I rest more during my cycle because I typically have less energy than the week before. I use the L. Cotton tampons you showed in the video. They work perfectly with my body. I'm still organizing some things but I am pleased with my progress. Wow, I learned sm 😊
This definitely takes me back to when I started living with my stepsisters. I remember how well I got along with them, almost right away (I have really abusive birth sisters). My oldest stepsister is always really kind and sweet most of the time. So when she was on her period, she would not have the energy to do anything, I live in a household were they demonize menstruation. My mom would always yell at her, and encourage her father to do the same, so she(stepsister) was always at her lowest lows during that time. And they (my parents) would always make it seem like, you should be glad when you’re somebody who doesn’t experience periods. I hated how they treated her ngl, but sometimes I too would lose my patients with her (without wanting to) simply cause I felt like she gives them ammunition when she insists (through no fault of her own) on doing nothing.
When I had the conversation with her, trying to find out what’s really going on internally, she told me she’s somebody who has a “heavy flow”, it was the first time I ever heard about that. I didn’t realize that it happens differently in every woman. And when I thought about it, that made more sense, since we’re all build differently 😅. That really helped me be more patient with her. She saw that no matter how much they shouted her, I just backed her up and did some of her chores for her, Of course my mom disproved of that.
I never believed that I should be relieved that I don’t experience periods, since I’m a guy. The least I could do is be sympathetic, but when I saw how women get treated by “sympathetic” people, I chose to empathize (I know it’s crazy) but I prefer that over distant (emotionally) encouragement to help somebody get through it. So I likened it to my really horrible stomachaches that I’m prone to getting whenever it gets really cold. I used to think something was really wrong with me due to that, I felt alone and defective somehow, but because I was always investigative I was always looking to uncover what brought it on, until I finally stumbled on it, and then it was easier to treat it and appreciate that I’m one of the earliest people to detect when there’s a temperature change in the air😅.
So using that logic, I empathized, and I realized how much pain she must be in. So I always chose to speak softer, and to keep my parents away from her during those days. My mom always has to be mean whenever she got the chance, calling her “weak”, “slow”, “sloppy”, but she would always try to phrase it like it’s coming from a place of love, that other women don’t end up the way my stepsister always becomes and that she’s just a problem. That was when I realized that my mom has a deep-seated hatred for my oldest stepsister in particular. Whenever she always tried to argue with my sis, I always stepped in and made her deal with me instead, just cause I hated the treatment.
My sister always eventually came out from the pain, and the cramps, got back right to her old self😊. So I always tried to not stigmatize her, this was completely normal, and we’re not all the same, I mean c’mon. I really appreciated having sisters who didn’t bully me all the time, so I wasn’t gonna be made to look good at their expense. I didn’t mention my other, younger stepsister ‘cause she always played to my parents and acted like she didn’t have her own cycle to deal with, hypocrite.
But that was back then, now we just live separate lives because my parents successfully managed to drive a wedge between all of us, by vilifying me to the whole community of course. Now my stepsisters do nothing but please them every chance they get. Makes me really sad to see that, it feels like I lost a family.
But anyways, great video, very educational
    Good job as always 😊❤

It's so fucking stupid that as little girls we only get told about periods, pads & tampons but no one ever mentions the entirety of the process, literally the foundation of how our bodies function. The hormonal changes, phases & most of all options that we have to care for our bodies! My entire life would be changed if I was taught how to eat to support my health, so much pain could've been avoided.
Instead we're made to live and work like men, according to male cycle. Is it just me or does that feel completely idiotic & unethical?

I struggle with severe anxiety and depression, and the whole stress being a factor if you get your period on time or not, is so true. Last time I was under so much stress my period was late 4 days. I also have endometriosis so when mmy period finally hit it hit even HARDER than I have experienced. Pains were so unbrearable I thought I was dying from inside. I haven`t been on birth control for 6 years now and I honestly prefer to go through 2 days in a month with extreme pains than be messed up so much mentally (even more than normal) from the pills where my life was falling apart.
Also the times I have had to call in to work to let them know I can`t make it because of severe pains, I have never been taken seriously how actually painful it is. I had a manager tell me once (female btw) "it doesn`t look good on paper that you`re off work 2 days a month" and then she went on to say how her sister struggles with endo but she still works and takes medicine for it. Like ok good for her but why are you comparing us two? I have NEVER been take seriously by female gynos, which is interesting because I have been taken more seriously from male doctors than female. Insane.

I hear you exactly. a female professor at my university lectured me about being professional when I couldn't show up because of my period cramps. she was like yeah we get it you were in pain last month but now it's happening again?? like gurl we on the same boat what are you even saying like yeah again this month because I go through this every damn month and I don't enjoy it believe you me. in a male dominated scholarly world you are a female professor at a university and you're bringing down your female student for being a woman. why. it's so sad. and some of my girl friends who luckily don't experience periods as painful as I do act like I'm using it as an excuse, meanwhile I'm in bed literally can't get up because of the cramps and my back hurting like it's breaking. I literally can't function the first two days but my period pain is never a valid excuse to delay and me not showing up means I don't care to them. As a result I used to believe that me "giving into pain and not like moving and stuff" was lazy of me? lol it sounds so stupid now that I know better.

Me too, I was taken more seriously by male doctors, and they were more gentle with examinations (for an other female problem : vaginism). I think the reason is because male doctors *know* that they *don't know* what we feel. Instead, some women doctors *think* they knows what we feel, because after all they are women too so our experience must be similar to theirs. Same for some female managers that can work the same during their periods and conclude that must be the same for all other women.
To be honest, it is a bias that I had to some degree too. For example, my pain during periods was difficult, but always bearable. When I put an IUD, suddenly I had SO MUCH pain during my periods : honestly, I couldn't imagine before that a woman can suffer so much during periods. I began to understand what someone with endometriosis must feel. Before that, I though that some women were more or less sensible to the pain. No : the pain is not on the same level ! I always had pain with cramps, real pain, but I did not know it was possible to suffer so much. But I had cramps, I had pain : so I though I knew. I didn't. I think this bias is the reason why some female doctors don't take other women seriously. They *think* they know, because they are women, and can relate to some symptoms. But they confuse their own personnal body experiences with general knowledge. A very common bias indeed.

The flex disc still has suction, but its much gentler and really doesn’t hurt me. You can’t even feel it if it’s in right. And you can leave it in longer than a tampon so if you have a busy day you won’t have to worry about changing it out in public. I take mine out in the shower on my heavy days bc it is kind of a gorey ordeal lmao! But if you aren’t weirded out by your own body it really is a great option!

Girlie, I know you already tried the cup and it wasn't a great experience. It also happened to me for the first two periods that I used it, but i continued giving it a chance because all the benefits against tampons and pads. Now I absolutely love it. I got a good grasp on how to use it and how it works for me, it also has helped me reconnect with my body and to look at my period from a different perspective, menstrual blood is not gross nor something to be disgusted about, quite the opposite, it tells you things about your body, you can keep track on the color, amount in ml, color, smells, texture... all of this you cannot do on a tampon because the tampon let the period blood rot and go bad inside your body. Anyway, I would suggest that you give the cup another chance, I promise you it's worth it! Love your channel.
    Hugs from Mexico City.

I have officially tried every birth control you can think of, and the effects it had on my cycle as a whole is why I stopped taking most of them. HOWEVER, I'm now on a copper IUD (no hormones in it whatsoever) and god I feel so much better. The only thing it really affects is it makes my cramps more painful sometimes, so for the girlies who don't want to give up birth control and still wanna have control of your cycle, get yourself a non-hormonal birth control, great video

i have an eating disorder that started as a toddler, so my eating patterns are different than most people. i eat whenever i’m hungry, which is different every day depending on literally everything lmao- apparently my metabolism and immune system are really efficient because i operate on my own clock. the nutritionist i saw as a kid said humans are meant to eat 3 specific times everyday, it throws off the natural digestive cycle, which affects other body processes.
since i had to be aware of how my body works from a young age i’ve never used a period tracker. i don’t consciously think about why or how i can tell though, it just happens naturally. eating whatever you want is how it’s supposed to be, you don’t to eat every food group every day. unless it’s processed, you’ll be healthy. i don’t eat meat, i’ve never liked it it’s not a moral thing lmao- but my body is more efficient than most people’s. i think as an adult, it would be really hard to gauge what your body needs and when if you’ve never been aware of it before.
im also very mixed, so i’m less likely to develop hereditary diseases. whip out the punnentt square if you don’t know how genes work. but if diabetes or something runs in your family you gotta be careful. or not lmao if you wanna be here for a good time not a long time.
as a kid i didn’t know that people sat down for dinner and breakfast it was wild to me. i thought it was just for show- when i would sleep over a friend’s house i’d be like y’all live like this? 💀 i would feel sick constantly too. it’s weird to me seeing people be so aware of the fact that they don’t understand their bodies. that’s how i was raised, naturally i thought everyone else was like that too lmao- it’s like if you heard someone explain in detail how typing works, like duh lmao you don’t need to explain that a p on the keyboard types out a p 💀 i honestly don’t know if starting this as an adult will do anything for you, i have no idea but to me it sounds like it would cause some problems. if you do something for your whole life and then randomly do the opposite it’s gonna affect you negatively in some capacity. like when vegetarians eat meat for the first time in a while. if anyone has experience with it id like to know! is it a “it gets worse before it gets better” typa thing or is it just an automatica shift.
also don’t force yourself to do something you don’t want to do, don’t do it because everyone else is doing it, do it cause it makes you feel good. it’s your life!

I’m surprised this is the only comment about BC. Some of us have to take it, can we even cycle sync?

    • @haute03

Hormonal birth control stops ovulation and the "period" you get on hormonal BC is actually withdrawal bleeding. With that in mind, I would be really curious to hear if cycle syncing works for you.

This may sound crazy, but having vaginal orgasms has helped me big time with cramps. I haven't always been able nor even thought it was possible to have vaginal orgasms, but long story short I did alot of vaginal healing work and trained myself to be able to have them. The first couple years of having them I would still get cramps, but orgasms would temporarily alleviate them. Now I am to the point where I rarely get cramps at all, and my periods are much shorter and lighter too. Also I still get tired and irritable, but I get alot less irritable and am able to handle stress better than I used to while on my period.

@@kat6262 The first thing I did was start using a yoni egg (this is an egg-shaped crystal speficially designed for use inside the vagina, traditionally the type of crystal used is nephrite jade, but I started with rose quartz). This helps to restore consciousness/bring back physical sensation to the vagina, as well as it strengthens and tones the vaginal muscles (if you pee when you laugh, sneeze or cough, using the egg alleviates that). Most coaches who teach jade/yoni egg practices will tell you to wear your egg 2-3 times a week for 20-30 minute intervals while practiving specific exercises- I do believe there's benefit to that type of work, but it's not what I did. I wore my egg intuitively for as little or as long as I felt guided. There are some caveats: you should never use an egg while on your period, you should always allow your egg to come out while using the bathroom (I catch it in my hand so it doesn't fall in the toilet, and of course I wash it with hot water and antibacterial soap before re-inserting), and also when you first start using the egg your muscles are likely going to be too weak to hold the egg in for long periods of time- expect it to fall out, and if it does that's perfectly OK).
The second thing I did, was after working with the yoni egg for a few weeks, I started using a crystal dildo to do a technique called de-armoring. Basically, we women store sexual trauma in our sexual organs (including our vaginas, cervixes, wombs, ovaries, even our breasts, etc.). This trauma can be anything from sexual abuse and/or rape, to something as seemingly harmless as being shamed as a child (think your mother or another female relative telling you to "close your legs"- that was one that my mother told me frequently). We store these big traumas and micro-traumas as physical tension in our vaginas and the other organs in our reproductive systems, and what that translates to is pain and numbness, as well as all of the symptoms that one would experience during difficult periods. So for the de-armoring process, we're going in with our fingers or with a tool (which is better, because it can reach farther in), and we are applying gentle, steady pressure to the walls of our vagina starting at the entrance, and working further up in a clockwise motion. To clarify- We start at one point, press in gently and HOLD while taking deep breaths(this is *key*) and allowing ourselves to feel whatever comes up. I also personally like to use sound to help expel the trapped energy- i.e. I moan, or wail, or whatever that needs to come out. We stay on that point until the pain/discomfort/numbness subsides (ideally we would want there to be no pain or discomfort left before moving to the next point- think 0 on a scale of 1-10 for pain), but sometimes we have sooo much built up there from a lifetime worth of trauma that it would be too much for us to release everything in one session. My best suggestion would be to listen to your gut, and if you feel that that's the case, move on to the next point, all the way up to your cervix. Do this technique on your cervix as well- there are so many misconceptions that touching the cervix is supposed to be painful and not pleasurable- I promise you it's NOT. Cervical orgasms are the most profound type of orgasm I've ever personally had, and have heard the same from multiple other women.
Once you've done enough de-armoring, you can start using your dildo to self-pleasure. The key with this is to go slow (way, way slower than what we typically see in porn) and do whatever feels good, while just enjoying the feeling and not worrying about reaching orgasm. I am able to reach vaginal orgasm without stimulating my clit now, but when I first started out I did a technique where I stimulated my clit to orgasm at the same time as I stimulated my vagina- what this does is it fires the synapses in our brains to experience pleasure in one area of our bodies that we haven't experienced pleasure in before, by linking them with the pleasure synapses in another area of our bodies where we are used to experiencing pleasure. May sound confusing, but trust me, it works. You can simply insert your dildo and just let it sit there while you give yourself a clit orgasm- that will be enough to facilitate the pleasure-wiring process. Don't be frustrated if you don't have strictly vaginal orgasms right away- for me it took a couple of months of consistent, pretty much daily practice- but eventually it did happen, and oh-my-goodness, it was the most worthwhile thing I've ever worked for in my life. No exaggeration.
As I continued having these vaginal orgasms, my difficult period symptoms gradually faded away. I went from having no period at all, for YEARS, following a traumatic abortion, to getting my period back (along with all the nasty symptoms), to now having regular, consistent periods that last 5 days from start to finish- only 2 days of "heavy" bleeding- and by heavy, I mean nowhere near as heavy as before. I have virtually no cramps at all, and on the odd occasion I do feel any cramping, I just give myself a few orgasms and the cramps are gone pretty much immediately.
I just want to stress that consistency is key. I've talked to and shared this information with alot of women who seem to be interested, but then think that they can do this once or twice and get the same results that I have. It definitely doesn't work that way, lol. You need to be willing to commit to these practices on, if not a daily basis, then at least several times a week- and the more you do it, the faster you will see results. The cool thing that I found in my experience is that the more you do it, the more your body will crave it, and so it will be very easy to make the time for yourself. It is very much something that we should consider an investment in ourselves, self-care.

I got severe PMDD for years for 10-14 days. Since I’ve been exercising every day and walking daily my PMDD is a couple of days and only in waves. Exercise has helped so much for cramps and mental health. I have stage 4 endo and didn’t ever think I’d exercise daily with my period.

Ahhh I’m soooo not surprised that something as simple as daily movement would help your symptoms so much! 🥹 sometimes it’s truly the small things that make a big difference (vs years of pills, starting/starting diets, hard workouts, money on supplements) not to say none of that could be helpful but what I’ve learned on my long health journey is to first just go back to basics. Movement everyday is literally SO important that sometimes it’s overlooked. I’m so happy to hear this ✨

this video came on my recommended at the perfect time! i've been on birth control for 4 and a half years now and have been thinking about getting off of it, but im really scared about not being able to function due to period pain again.
before starting birth control, i had very long, heavy, and painful periods. i would sometimes wake up drenched in sweat and screaming in pain from cramps. i feel like they gave me birth control as a band aid and didn't care about helping me find the root cause of the issues. but now that im a healthier person overall than i was 5 years ago and have found effective treatment for the other health issues i was having, maybe im ready to get back into a natural cycle.
thank you so much for all this info!! this will definitely help me when im ready to get off of birth control.

I'm a 22 year old cis woman, and I have never had a menstruation bleed, or at least a natural one that was continous. I have primary amenorrhea, and have had doctor appointments every now and then since around 2018/2019. I have been told my estrogen levels are low, and therefore need to loose weight to boost these up. In Spring of 2019 I started Weight Watchers, and around December 2019 I had lost almost two stone. But in 2020 we could no longer go, and in September of 2020 I started university. I'm currently nearly finished with my 3 year degree, where I have put on around a stone more then what I was when I started WW. So for this Summer, especially before my appointment in November, I really need to try to loose at least 4 stone. If anyone has advice on exercise at the gym for beginners, food and meals that increases estrogen and for weight loss, or anything to help primary amenorrhea, would be such a big help!!

I would blame myself for not being able to give my best when my period is coming/ I'm on my period when I was younger. Now, I learned to follow the instructions. When I noticed I got more emotional than normal days, it's okay, it's just my hormones, there's nothing wrong with me. When I need to choose a date for an important plan or event, I avoid choosing the days where my periods would most likely visit. That's when I feel like I have more control of my life.
