aw, Andrew talking about his difficulty with school and the example of the ballerina, that just made me adore him even more. I love interviews like this, where it's personal but it's not personal/"dating gossip" or the mindless hair/costume questions. I love hearing these guys talk about... real stuff. And that was just a great moment, ugh. at the risk of sounding like a fangirl - "like omg, it's like he just GETS me!" - that was kind of a relief to hear him say so honestly. long live the arts!
He is so adorable the way he looked at Carrie after his long ramble about schooling (which I 100% agree with) asking her was that really bad? It shows that even people in the spotlight have their insecurities. I love both of them, they both seem like the most down to earth people!
I cannot stop replaying this interview.. the way everything flows in the conversation, the way he gets self-conscious about ranting,, the way he gets angry at society, righteously.. the way she reassures him and helps him express.. the intelligent questions for the interviewer.. it all just flows beautifully - in a way that makes me want to be involved in the film world for the first time. Great learning- Thank you!
the way he speaks remind me of myself. like you know what you want to say but when it comes to saying it some how the translation gets lost, and god forbid a lose of your train of thought. I get a bit flustered then self conscious. 😞
don't know why people say stuttering is bad, it's like the cutest thing ever. especially when paired with a british accent. and an amazing smile. and beautiful eyes. and... oh god andrew garfield is just perfect ok?
I love how Andrew is always like feeling guilty for "talking too much" and Carey is like "No, no. but you are right!", trying to make him not feel bad about it. Andrew is adorable.
How can a grown man be so adorable, I wonder. The way he stutters in his brit accent is to die for. *.* i loved this movie, and I think all three of them brought it to life in a very special way.
I love this movie! I don't understand people who find it emotionless and flat, I find it thoroughly moving and poetic. Also, both Carey and Andrew are excellent actors, they 're among the people who make me hopeful for my generation.
I love these two. I had the pleasure of meeting both of them at TIFF last year - I can't express how lucky I feel. I'm sure they will both rise to the very top of their profession. Legends in the making! Such intellect, talent, and sincerity.
These two just have such star quality (apart from just their incredible skills), they're very likeable and honest. They've both continued to grow in terms of fame since this interview, and I can tell that's just going to keep happening. They're two of my all time favourite actors, because they're talented, intelligent and they make great film choices. Looking forward to seeing more more more of them.
I love interviews like these; they really dig deep not just into what the film is about on the surface, but also what the what goes into the process, what the actors felt about it. Great interviewer. Love how he builds questions based on what Garfield and Mulligan said. Both Garfield and Mulligan seem to be the kind of people you'd have a great conversation with over a tea or coffee at a cafe. I adore both the novel and the film. :)
I honestly had no idea what the movie was about when I watched it, and then just sat sort of half-shocked afterwards. And when I finally started to consider and analyze it, all I could think was, "For of all sad words of tongue or pen, The saddest are these: "It might have been!""
Andrew is throwing himself into the flames here, the gentlemanlyness is subtle, it's a sort of honor role few people step into Its really quite as joy to see these two heart-breakers in the same space, there I swear is some perfect complimentary understanding being portrayed here 👌 I have no qlue however THANK-YOU SOOO MUCH, .. it feels as though I'm watching an Olympic high-marking event
This was such a great interview, so glad the interviewer was as intelligent as those two beautiful people on the sofa. Loved it and I loved the film too.
I love how hard Andrew works on his roles, like how he was talking about making an effort in his relationships with his co-stars. Also, when they were talking about golden age of theatre etc, it just reminded me of Midnight in Paris. :)
Why, why, WHY, are there 3 dislikes on this video? This is on of my all time favorite youtube videos, I think both of the actors are beautiful and genuinly good-natured, and the way they discuss the film is just so deep. I very much enjoy watching this, and it gave me a whole new perspective on the book and movie.
i think pharoah would be happy to see this interview.in times of our history this story has something unique to tell. never give up hope on your greatest of dreams possibilities may arise anytime you may never know. each new day is a new day with everything new and remote to bring. history does repeat itself.
I'm so glad Kira Knightly wasn't in the interview... I don't think I would've watched it if it did. Garfield and and Mulligan are awesome actors. I know it's impossible to compare, but I when I saw Saoirse Ronan's 'How I Live Now' it put me in a similar frame of mind. There should be more movies like these, I like movies lead by a young but mature cast.
"shock value has been misused" - great way of thinking about it. Are we in a process of being desensitised? I love a good actor and a fabulous role to be played. What can be learnt?
I love Andrew Garfield, he is so cute and such a gentleman. Carey Mulligan is also cute, and a so nice and both of them are beautiful.I have a girl crush on Carey Mulligan and a real crush on Andrew Garfield.
They've both got so much to offer society. I wish all actors were as talented, genuine and open-minded as these two. They are such an inspiration to me. I would absolutely love to go into acting, but I go to a grammar school and everyone's very geared towards going to university - what Carey said here really made me think. I hope I have that courage one day to break away from everyone's expectations and follow what I really want to do.
Andrew is 100% right about the constraints and bad social conditioning that school's may have on the youth! I've only found success outside of the academy and I believe it should be more supportive of the arts!!!
This is an amazing interview. I love that they had time to give thoughtful, intelligent answers. Really loved the movie as well, I can't get it out of my head.
So as well as being a co-star of Andrew Garfield in this movie, she was also a co-star of Tobey Maguire in "The Great Gatsby" in 2013. Now she just needs to be a co-star of Tom Holland. Please make this happen! They're both British, so there's no reason not to.

Andrew is truly an INFP.

He's breathtaking isn't he? just watching him speak.
Andrew Garfield is so underrated as an actor, and he is right, he really knows how to pick roles.
not anymore
Andrew Garfield is the most adorable guy alive. He's so cute and genuine
I love how Andrew is always like feeling guilty for "talking too much" and Carey is like "No, no. but you are right!", trying to make him not feel bad about it.

Carrie Mulligan is my favourite actress. Everything she does is just acting perfection. I love her movies

My compliments to you both, talented geniuses
This was such a great interview, so glad the interviewer was as intelligent as those two beautiful people on the sofa. Loved it and I loved the film too.
I miss in-depth interviews. We used to have them on late night network TV, not all that long ago.
He's so different in The Social Network; great actor.

I was going to say I didn't see any tattoo on her face lol. Don't do that! I thought she actually had one and I freaked out for a moment.

That was the first movie I seen Andrew in great acting but it was a sad movie...only watched it once.
I agree COMPLETELY with Andrew Garfield about school

Charlie Rowe is a pretty good actor I believe, that kid should get offered more roles in more movies.
Charlie Rowe is young Tommy btw
*“Ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, TODAY JUNIOR!!!”* lol 😆
I agree with you completely. To me, at least, they were also incredibly believable as a couple in NLMG. :-)
@almostwriterable and the worst part is that in this society you need money to do anything... like pursuing your arts... its a rough life.
The word he was looking for, was leverage!
