- The Ghost and Molly McGee Season Two is set to conclude next week, so I thought I’d take just a little bit of a critical look at Season 2!

I still really wanted more of Molly/Libby/Andrea dynamics and we were especially robbed of an Andrea/Libby backstory. A Period Piece gave us a lot of false hope for that trio.
Yeah, I think it would be interesting to dive into that a little more

I already had in mind some episodes where the trio could appear.
One would be a different version of Frightmares On Main Street that I did with some friends.
Another one would be the same episode but told from two perspectives, called "Boys' Night Out/Girls' Night Out", where Ollie has to take care of Darryl and Scratch, while Molly goes with Libby and Andrea to a nightclub.
And one more that would be from possible season 3, where Molly would have her first date with Ollie, but she gets a pimple, and asks her friends for help to remove it. (Yes, I know that happened in The Loud House, but it's one of two ideas I have.)

And third: Technically they are preteens, so they could go without any problem (Unless Darryl has made fake IDs once, knowing him well, he probably has XD). It's like in Big City Greens where Tilly and Andromeda went with Gloria to a nightclub despite their age.
This is one of the best shows that Disney Channel has put out in years. I hope the season finale does it all justice :>

as much as I do liked The Ghost and Molly McGee I'd truly hope they'll have a Season 3 and hopefully Disney doesn't screw this show over like what they did with The Owl House

Personally, I don’t mind Jinx being a more silly villain, if only because TGAMM is a very silly show. She’s really funny and still able to be a threat when she needs to be, and I feel like that’s enough. I feel the same about BCG’s Chip Whistler where he’s a total joke 80% of the time, but that just makes the times where he goes Full Joker and tries to straight up kill someone all the more memorable.
Oh yeah, I don’t have a problem with her being silly! Just a tiny bit more teasing is honestly all I’m really asking for.
Yeah. And I’m really excited to see both of their final plans in the season finales.
4:42 honestly my only big issue is that there’s a lot more of these moments in the season than the first where they made sure to make sure everything worked properly. I do hope that on Disney plus they put the episodes in the production order than air order.
They obviously moved it around late enough in the game that the episode number was just slightly wrong.

My personal nitpick with season 2 is that we still have not seen any real consequences to what happened to the chairman during the season 1 finale. It just makes the chairman a wasted character and even makes the idea of ghosts scaring people pointless, especially when a ghost scaring Ollie and June's dad is the cause of the Chen family being ghost hunters. I still enjoy season 2 for the most part, especially Andrea's episodes, and I am looking forward to the season finale.
That's the point from season one's finale. Being mean just for being mean Is pointless.
There really was a massive change. In season one a lot of the conflicts were created by scratch needing to cause misery so he didn’t get taken from Molly. When Molly vanquished the chairman there was no more fear of losing him and with him becoming the new chairman the ghost world became a lot happier except for Jinx.
If there is a third season the premiere needs to be called a new beginning.
I do hope when Season 3 comes, we’ll get more of June. She’s cool but I’d like to know more about her if possible 😅
I absolutely agree on Jinx, she’s been underutilized. She’s appeared in three episodes all season, and one of those episodes was a cameo during the Ghost Friends theme song. I don’t need her to be a serialized villain where every episode is based around learning her backstory/finding a way to defeat her/we randomly cut to her plotting the big season finale attack, since that’s not the kind of show this is. But I feel like one or two more episodes fueled by her being the antagonist would DEFINITELY not have hurt to keep her in the viewers’ minds.
Speaking of small personal issues and underused characters, I wish we got more of the Ghost Council interacting with Molly and Scratch. Like, Scratch aspired to be in the upper crust of Ghost Society with them, and now that he’s got it… it’s shenanigans as usual with Molly, more than anything. And we also just don’t have much of Molly interacting with them now that they’re on… better terms, if Perfect Day is anything to go by.
Also, yeah, June could have been used more when talking underused characters. I don’t mean to footnote her here, but you said it best, we haven’t seen her in any Darryl-centric episodes and she was built up to be a school friend.
But enough of the negative- this season I think has been a lot stronger in a lot of areas. The subplots of Scratch’s past and Ollie’s Ghost hate have felt built just as well as the recurring plot points season 1 had. The songs have been excellent, and I think the quality is largely better than season 1’s, which was real good with a few boring ones here and there. And the humor and heart have been on par or better than season 1. Just in general, even if there’s some things I’ll nitpick, I do think the season is equal or greater than season 1 in most places.
@@grayfox4819 Yeah, I can agree to that. Jinx having an actual personality makes her an entertaining antagonist when she shows up. It’s just we haven’t seen much of her at all.
If Kick Buttowski can be cut short after two seasons, the same might occur with The Ghost and Molly McGee sadly 😔😔😔

I'm not ready for this finale one bit. I was a fan of this show BEFORE it premiered and it makes me happy every time I watch it.
I knew there was a theme, but I hadn't noticed it was change, I guess I'm not that good at noticing themes lol, but I love how the team inputted that into the season now that you mention it
Hey, so I have had a little theory in my head that I’m surprised you’ve never thought of. What if the ghost that actually scared Ruben as a child wasn’t actually trying to scare him, but he was just scared in general? Maybe it was Jinx, but we don’t actually know her real name, she might be a deceased relative of the Chens? I’ve never seen her interact with one of them yet. Or it might also be Geoff or Jeff. It’s just a theory but it’s possible.
I just feel like Jinx having been the one who scared Ruben would make sense and tie everything together nicely. I could be wrong, though!

Season 2 has been such a ride. I was always under the impression that, given the writing circumstances, Perfect Day and the Christmas episode took place during the Christmas season following the Halloween season seen in Frightmares in Main Street, which I think makes the most sense, mostly. Especially coming from show that has been so careful with continuity.
But that aside, yeah, this season has been great. I’m still not sure if it beats season 1, it was just such a beautiful piece of art as a whole, but it has been lovely, and the reasons why couldn’t have been better explained here. You talking about this season’s themes of change, of moving forward, growing up, and taking the scary leap to make something better, it was an absolutely beautiful segment.
Precisely for this I think Jinx is a pretty darn good villain in my opinion. She is presented as a truly menacing and intimidating force with a great evil song straight out of classic Disney movies in the first season, but after seeing Molly and the rest continuously succeed through love, acceptance and joy, when the audience is reintroduced to Jinx, she is humorously desperate, and acts petty and hateful, the exact opposites of enhappyfication! She grows as not the one in the huntress position (as her song states lol), but the one failing to change in a world that is continuously accepting love and taking the leaps to change for the better, both for their own sakes (such as Scratch and Andrea) and for others (such as the Chens and also Andrea).
Molly said it best, “Love is more powerful than hate. And joy? Joy is way more powerful than misery will ever be!” I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH!
Also, small question, when is the season 2 finale dropping? I believe next Saturday but I’m still not sure…

Find out who scared the father
Invent an actual end game for a story that has not had an ongoing threat
see if Scratch will continue to be chairmen or if he'll learn to be responsible
and get a bunch of things I didn't list to pay off
I wonder if we can fit all that in to what's left of the season or if it'll push back to next season?

Fantastic video! I know my biggest gripe with S2 is how the Chens weren’t utilized as much as they should have been (especially June and her relationship with Daryl). You also make a great point about Jinx role as the big bad of this season in which yeah, she's a fun antagonist, but she could have benefited from a few more apperances + proper build up.
Happy New Years! In terms of getting more of June i agree 100%. but i dont think she'd be super big on video games or maybe shes busy with other activities because keep in mind she never goes to the principal office so she wouldn't find out about the club and she'd have no clue it exists.

I feel the finale is gonna be an hour long to make sure aspects like The Chens and Andrea are allowed to shine.
IDK about Andrea, but I think they had an extra episode ordered so that they could make sure Jinx vs the Human World and The End were as great as possible.
I think with Andrea, they kinda did a character development swap. Usually the main character does something meaningful for the rival character that makes characters like Andrea begin to think that the main character isnt all that bad. In this case, Andrea out of nowhere decides to help mollie's family when they were living in the woods in that one episode by getting the community involved. Which was awesome, sure, but usually the main character initiates kind gestures first. Molly did it second when she got andrea to open up and express herself live on the internet unintentionally.
I can’t wait for season finale, we’re gonna see Scratch’s backstory.

When you said that you think that Jinx was the ghost who scared Ruben as a kid, I was shocked and surprised because I also think that Jinx was the ghost who scared him.
And guess what, earlier today, they released the promo for the two season 2 finales and I am absolutely hyped for Jinx Vs the Human World (Molly and Scratch try to stop Jinx ftom taking over the human world) and The End (Scratch remembers all of his past and he's sad that he might have to leave Molly).
The rare curses thing is probably because the episode was meant to air war earlier that introduced Molly to them and that’s why they were introduced in the perfect day but mentioned earlier….
I think I remember hearing that the Chens were intended to be one-off characters, which would explain a lot about how all the Chens aside from Ollie felt almost like an afterthought.
It seems like in the new promo, that Scratch might be a Wraith. On the other hand, it might be not Todd, since we saw him panicked screaming in the promo.
I look forward to the season 2 finale and I love this show. It’s my favorite cartoon of the late 2000s and I would love more episodes :)

I think this season was overstuffed and some arcs weren't fully fleshed out like they wanted. That said, i still liked this season a fair deal.
Honestly I think Jinx should’ve appeared more and been built up a bit longer. Like maybe in S3 she could’ve enacted this huge plan after her schemes became more and more serious/a bigger threat while keeping her just as petty if not more so.
Honestly if it hadn't been for the synopsis I would have loved Molly and Ollie's get-together episode, but having wanted to see more with June for months I was a little disappointed with that episode. They make a cute couple but it felt like June and Darrol were being literally shoved to the side for them.

What I like about this show’s second season ending on the end instead of jinx vs the human world. Is the fact it fits the type of show it is with being more about the characters and dynamics as the heart of it rather than an action packed serialized show like amphibia or owl house. Nothing wrong with those two I love them but the end as a season finale fits better.

I saw a synopsises to upcoming episodes on one website and one of them was “scratch is going to meet adia once again” or someting like that. And i remember it clearly because i was exited about it and even told a friend. But next month this particular synopsis was deleted from everywhere???… And i’m kinda sad there had to be an episode involving adia and now it seems to be cancelled. And that website wasn’t fake because all other synopsises were true.
Adia’s obviously going to be addressed in the season finale. And there’s been no confirmation that there’s not going to be a third season. In fact, I just made a video talking about why I think the show IS getting a third season.

I think my biggest nitpicks for season 2 are that I wish the Chens (with the exception of Ollie obviously) were more developed as characters, at the very least the trailer for the season 2 finale shows that June is going to be a wraith, so that’s something, also I would have liked to have a couple more episodes around Scratch’s past, I’m not saying I needed a full four part arc about Scratch’s past or something, but I think they could’ve added at least couple more episodes about Scratch’s past then the amount we actually got, I’m just relieved about the Biz Mart thing only ended up being a set up for Davenport’s in Demise because when that got teased at the end of Davenport’s on Demand, I was starting to worry that writers were trying to do one too many overarching plots for season 2
I really would’ve only been 4 and even then the chen and jinx plot can be merged very easily. But yeah I agree on bizmart not actually being an overarching threat. Scratch’s past has had 3 episodes now going to be 4 which works well enough.
I wish they didn't kill the previous Chairman too early so we could've gotten to see his origin, real name, & real face. And there's also that Bizmart CEO who we barely know anything about
i think people misinterpreted the Bizmart CEO. i think he was less of a upcoming villian and more of a tease for Andrea's ark in Davenports' in Demise
The Bizmart CEO isn’t a villain. He’s a product of change for the theme of change and represents the real life changes we can’t prevent 😅

One nitpick I have is a lack of a timeline. We've had Christmas episodes in both seasons. There's legit continuity going on and the status quo keeps changing. But the kids are still 13? Like how much time has passed at this point? I'm surprised there hasn't been a Molly Bday episode. But it definitely feels they didn't have enough episode to explore all their ideas.
I think it’s sort of like Bob’s Burgers where there is some continuity but we also don’t really see the characters age.
Which I get. And if the show was more like that show or Simpsons or something where everything is pretty static, it wouldn't bother me. Doesn't ruin my enjoyment or anything, but there's enough continuity, story and character arc changes that it sticks out. @@SunnylandProds

Season 2 just seems kinda scatterbrained. It wants Molly/Libby/Andrea to be a whole dynamic but also wants to have the tension of the Chen family, then it kinda just ditches the Chen family and has Ollie join the group as a weird Libby/Molly fusion, then it wants to have these lore based episodes sprinkled around these non-consequential comedy episodes, then it wants to randomly go back to the “helping ghosts” premise that kicked off the series before leaving it alone again for like 6 or 7 eps straight, then it suggests some tension with June that’s never touched on again (probably during the finale).
It wants to do a *lot* and I think as a result pretty much every aspect has come out the other end pretty half baked. Ollie especially has hardly justified himself even coming into the series. He’s just a Molly mirror with the clumsy anxiety of Libby, he has no real role or fun combination with the girls either, not even with Scratch. As things stand he really has to do something meaningful. Season 1 was so focused with everything it did - the ghost premise was there throughout the season, that central theme of helping people out took form in various ways that helped build up Brighton and its inhabitants. When Molly has the town help her out it totally feels earned and was massively cathartic. S2 has been missing that same *core* I think.
All that said I don’t think the show’s ruined or anything, like some other people have been saying. It’s definitely a weaker season and this one is most likely our final season too, but I think if it can land on its feet decently with the last episode things could look a bit better. The humor and character moments in S2 (ESPECIALLY Andrea) were very very strong and nice to see, and those scant moments with the ghosts, while brief, tended to be very nice as well. None of the DNA of the series has been damaged in S2, just that it’s trying to do a bit too much.

The thing I don't like about the show is the fact all humans eventually become ghosts, why do they hate each other if eventually theyll all become the same? And it doesn't matter if your bad or good cause you'll all be ghosts when you die

First off White Christmess and Perfect Day were written BEFORE Firghtmares on Main Street not after. The TGAMM writers twitter account confirmed this. I tgried posting a link to said tweet but I guess that's why it was deleted.
also 4:27 I think it is justified since All in the Mind happened AFTER Perfect Day since again Those episodes were written before Frightmares and All in the mind was written WAy after that. If the episodes aired as intended it probably wouldn't be an issue. I think the plan was for Perfect Day to be the introduction to the rare curses but Disney wanted to pull the episodes til the holidays because they are holiday episodes. So in the end it''s Disney's fault.
