    I've read the entirety of Hickman's Avengers & New Avengers and been looking for a good video going over Time Runs Out before getting into Secret Wars, I've watched quite a few but yours is, by far, the most comprehensive and the most accurate one. Most people who do this kind of videos usually make rather short videos, skipping over a lot of crucial plot points, or say things which are simply not accurate, buy you've been 100% on point as far as I remember. Thanks for the recap :)

    You know a story is good when it makes you sit back and think "What if this happens to us" or "Could we ever stop anything like this from ever happening" to tell my opinion I believe that our will to live would make us do the same thing that the illuminati did in this amazing comic

      The narration was great. Your Enthusiasm really showed. But the plot. dear God the plot. That is the most confusing mess of stupidity since the Mueller manafort trial. I lost track so many times I found myself humming to the 1812 Overture in the background. They can't hate each other that much. why don't Captain America and Ironman just have sex and get married and just leave the rest of us out of it. Continuity is way overvalued when it results in garbage emotion-based pots like this that I could fly a quinjet through.

I stopped reading comics years ago and recently got back in via digital collections on amazon, but they don't do a great job of showing what came before what so I've been following the story out of order. this helps put the pieces together and explain the larger mosaic. Excellent review dude. I Have really enjoyed these stories. I jumped in to new avengers post infinity and Hickmans work really captivated me so much that i had to get the start of NA and Avengers under his run. Plus his FF and future foundation work. Just epic. Anyway you Highlighted the spotlight placed on blackpanther and Namor and few others no reviewer has mentioned. which is a shame cuz i really loved the nasty deep hatred these guys developed along the wa, the egos of Capt and Stark, or the dark turn Dr. Strange takes, he abandons 616.
    Also the Great Society was a jab at DC comics JL, i thought it was hilarious, awesome.

    It was more than two years building up. This felt like the culmination of everything from the late 2000e and early 10s all the way back to civil war at least and helped clean house after what was a rough time to be a Marvel Fan and with several years since it happened at the time of this comment, I cannot appreciate it enough for being the controlled burn that helped bring me back to marvel along with Secret Wars as it's counterpart and I am thriled that with the events of Loki among other things, we are seeing shades of this epic story on the horizon of the MCU

It's actually similar to the way I read orally. I assume I do very well with my oral reading because of the compliments I have received. So for me to compare your oral reading style to mine is the same as giving you a very big compliment. Congratulations! Does anyone realize that the Great Society is Marvel's version of the Justice League (some kind of a troll from Marvel i guess):
    - Sun God = Superman: super strengh, speed, stamina,enhanced vision
    - Norn = Dr Fate : Special helmet
    - The Jovian = Martian Manhunter :Shape-shifting, Telepathy, Superhuman Strength
    - The Rider - Batman : Both real name is WAYNE, master martial artist, weapon master
    - Dr Spectrum = Green Lantern : energy projection from a freakin ring
    - Boundless = Flash : super speed ( both running at the speedy of light), vibrational attunement,

    • @Demarcoa
      @Demarcoa 9 лет назад +3

      Nate Dawg not sure where TOAA is in all of this, or if that dude is involved at all. The Avengers took out two beyonders at great personal cost and due to a host of special circumstance, and technically, only one was actually killed. which is a little better, i guess

    • @natedawg6940
      @natedawg6940 9 лет назад

    • @yoursonisold8743
      @yoursonisold8743 9 лет назад +1

      Nate Dawg Circumstances mean everything. When concepts collide, strength and powers don't matter. Sometimes a being that can't be scratched by even the godliest beings can be defeated by one enemy who has their only weakness etc.

    • @natedawg6940
      @natedawg6940 9 лет назад

      Yourson Isold its funny that you say that. I saw someone asking what I asked and I think a editor answered with something like what you said

    • @yoursonisold8743
      @yoursonisold8743 9 лет назад +3

      Nate Dawg What a coincidence. It's a general rule in Comics and other alike mediums (manga, novels, movies). Concepts often defy power levels.
      The most obvious form of that is Magic vs. Tech. Often magic simply has loopholes that defy the logic of technology. Even if you can build a robot that can destroy planets with a single attack, if you have one magician who knows a spell that shuts the robot down he wins, even though he couldn't normally harm a fly.

    This is great. I read this story, but this reminded me of how much detail Hickman had in his Avengers and New Avengers running side by side. Hickman was gaining a name for himself on his run on FF and Future Foundation, but because I was never a 616 Fantastic Four fan, I never read any issues. I was a fan of the Ultimate Fantastic Four as it was a great jumping on point and I was massive fan of what Millar and Bendis were doing with Ultimate Spider-man, Ultimate X-Men and the The Ultimates (Avengers). I've been a consistent reader of 616 X-Men and related books since 89, as well as Spider-Man titles. I jumped on when McFarlane was still on Amazing. I am as familiar with Marvel and all the characters (THANK YOU WIKIPEDIA) as anyone. So I was always familiar with everything going on in the FF books because of websites. I was first introduced to Hickman when he did his run on the Ultimates where took Brian Bendis hero turned villain in Reed Richards Grant Morrison's the WORLD concept from X-Men and created The Maker. Mark Millar's complete Ultimate Run is one of my all time complete runs and what how far The Ultimate Marvel universe fell after his leave from Marvel. The exception of Bendis continuation on Ult. Spider-Man, what was written better than the 616 counterparts dropped in quality to the point of being unreadable. But I downloaded The Ultimates #1 by Hickman for free and fell in love with his story.
    I loved his Avengers and New Avengers run so much, and what he was doing with the X-Men that I ended up reading his Fantastic Four run. It was good. I don't feel like it came close to what he did on the Avengers ending with Secret Wars. X-Men was incredible as well and his departure ended up being exactly what I thought it would be. The remaining Krakoa Age books fell so flat. Anyway. This is fun to watch this right now. I don't know if he's saying Rabum Alal correctly tho. he is saying Rah Boom. I thought it was pronounced as Rah Bum.

    I haven't bought a comic in years lol but really need to buy the secret wars series as I had when the original 80's series came out. Thanks for the background information it gives me an understanding of how complex the storyline is now!

    Just wondering.
    About the Incursions, couldn't they like... Cosmic power Kitty Pride, or another phasing dude or chixk and phase one planet entirely through another?

    This whole story is incredibly convoluted as Marvel is very good at doing. Thanks for doing this though. I haven't read any Avengers stuff since Infinity and I'm reading Secret Wars and am fairly confused so this helped a bit.Still a lot of crap to remember, though.

    I like how he blots out the words from the word balloons so we can focus instead on the artwork and his narration. It's a habit of mine to read everything the moment i see words and it gets a bit distracting for me. So kudos to ComicIsland for saving me from my awful compulsive behavior lol ;D

    I have to comment on this because i feel strongly that you undersold and practically ruined the moment. During Thor and Hyperions last stand against the Beyonders, right before their death, Odinson learns that he can no longer lift the hammer of Thorr, because in his final moments, he had once again become worthy. He realizes this, and just laughs. He then grabs his axe Jarnbjorn and races Hyperion toward Valhalla… Such a powerful moment.

    holy fucking shit this just.... god damn... all but the ultimate universe and 616 are gone? DAMN. there goes the spiderverse...

      William Holtzclaw Yeah the fact that we JUST saw an event that connects all those multiverse versions of Spider-man gives this a bitter aftertaste (even more than it already should). They fought so hard to defeat the Inheritors so that they could survive, but it doesn't matter as all universes were destroyed anyway.

    • @williamholtzclaw3029
      @williamholtzclaw3029 9 лет назад +2

      exactly, it fells just as it should, the multiverse is dieing

    • @maxspecs
      @maxspecs 9 лет назад

      William Holtzclaw Wait, this means that none of the new Marvel movies matter at all, since they're all on their own timeline, right?

    • @williamholtzclaw3029
      @williamholtzclaw3029 9 лет назад +1

      well, we can always assume that the movie time line is laging behind 616, but yea, they gonna die

      William Holtzclaw Dr Doom together with Dr Strange managed to save some fragments from different realities and used them to create a new single world, where Doom is GOD. Enter Secret Wars.

      Scott Link This vid is the newest proof that Doom is the most intelligent ever. He stands against "God's", using his intelligences and wisdom of the multiverse itself.
