He was always an Idiot and spoiled he was like a child who had no sense of responsibility and didn't care about the consequences of his action which is what it got him killed you can see it in VCS and in VC
I think I'm the only guy here who saw Lance's betrayal coming. He literally sounds and acts like someone that would betray his own friends due to his idiot attitude. That phone call with Tommy after not doing his own job made it even more obvious.
That's because we were emotionally attached to Vance. It was when I learned to remove the emotional thinking from my brain 🧠 that I learned to disattach and realize that Lance was making suspect moves after helping him get his revenge. Most of us gave him a pass because we liked Vance, especially after him helping us in the beginning of the game.
Lol bro no, the only person who DIDN’T see it coming was Tommy himself. Even playing this as a little kid and hearing that same phone call, after Bar Brawl, was a sign of things to come
@@younglove3362 he probably embraced the dark side , the Victor we saw at the end of VCS was done with the drug game , however, on VC he started selling again
@Ceyez Yep. Just like Vic said in Vice City Stories, “My brother Pete, he’s really sick. [beat] So is my other brother Lance, just in a different kind of way.”
I do feel for Lance- I didn’t play Vice City Stories but I did believe he wanted vengeance. He was a childish mind who wanted it right away and wanted the respect of the mafia life without the work but I feel of him and his brother weren’t fucked over in that drug deal he could’ve been an excellent asset. A talented pilot and gunman with no fear, he could’ve built an empire with Tommy but didn’t
I'm playing Vice City Stories now and Lance is such a little punk. Vic tells him over and over he wants nothing to do with drugs and Lance just makes deals without asking Vic, exploiting how Vic will always bail out his family members.
Some people are genuinely defending Lance by saying that "if Tommy wasn't yelling at him and wasn't looking down at him, Lance won't betray him". Except Tommy was yelling at him only once and that's was totally justified. And Lance took it as an insult, although it was a rightful call out for a lazy job. And Tommy wasn't really looking down at Lance, he accepted him as a partner in crime and helped him many times.
@@alexferrana3979 It wouldn't be surprising that there would be people that defend Lance's actions because I know quite a few people in reality that act almost exactly like him...minus the fact they're part of a criminal empire.
Now that you mention it, you’re right; it’s never explained how they came to the conclusion that Diaz ruined the deal, they just suddenly knew. I’m still kind of confused on that one
Lance wanted everything handed to him without putting a lot work. Lance was more of a man child that wants respect, whenever he gets reprimanded for his actions he throws a temper tantrum. He thought betraying Tommy and joining Sonny would get him wealth, power, and respect. Lance is a big idiot because Sonny would have betray and kill Lance once he got rid Tommy. Lance thought the criminal life would give him the easy life, but only made him miserable and he had no idea what he was doing. His stupidity, greed, and selfishness got himself killed at the end.
@@TayshawnTryston1605 yeah Lance left Tommy to do all the work himself then acted so surprised when Tommy claimed sole leadership? the fuckin' cheek of it!
Valid in so many ways. However, I assume Diaz might've not jumped the deal, Diaz from vcs even loved Vic more and was more helpful to take down Mendez. If it was Diaz, he could have taken out Quinton. I assume the deal was botched by Sonny himself because he has little to nothing to do with the deal. The deal I think was meant to ambush Tommy.
@2:44 considering the deal in the intro between Tommy, Harry, and Lee was with Victor and Lance, it’s not too crazy that Lance knew his name. On the other hand, we knew Tommy and the crew were going in blind, but we don’t know what the Vance brothers knew about them coming in.
Nobody ever points out that Lance also lives down the street from the hotel Tommy is staying at (we don't find out where Lance lives till VCS) and he's also around the corner from Cortez's Yatch as well he was always in a good position to keep an eye out on Tommy
Lance's narcissism and greed ultimately got him killed. Tommy had always given him a fair share, but he wanted to be top dog of his empire despite having zero ideas of how to run one. But the real idiot move he did was siding with Sonny - if he sold out Tommy (one of his most trusted enforcers within the Forellis), what made that dumbass assume Sonny would keep him around once he outlived his usefulness?
I always liked Lance. It made more sense for Rosenberg to be the rat. Lance's turn always seemed to come out of nowhere. Rosenberg however, was a huge drug addict that always screwed things up.
Keep in mind this is my opinion, I have a lot of sympathy for Lance and I don’t think he was ever really evil, just deeply misguided and insecure. Lance knowing about Diaz is likely as a result of Cortez, who most likely met the Vance brothers from Panama. Otherwise, I think they were both Vance family still had members or informants around who gave Lance information, and it’s possible that rumours got around in the VC underworld about Diaz killing rivals. Plus as far as I know, Cortez was a sneaky rascal who knew of Gonzalez’ treachery but never warned anyone about it, and he may have connected the dots and told Lance. As for Lance knowing Tommy‘s name, I think Cortez may have told him or he has researched him. Lance wanted information. Unlike Tommy plans Lance had reasons I can get behind for wanting revenge. Tommy was purely motivated by power and money. Lance was motivated by desire for revenge for his brother. Why people keep insisting that avenging his brother was motivated by selfish reasons? Also “I’ve done everything for you” isn’t really a lie, he is the only person to actually put his life on the line when Tommy needed help and was a nobody in Vice City while others gave Tommy info. I think this what Lance meant, that Tommy doesn’t see his contribution but in reality it is the same way with anyone else, like Ken. Additionally Lance might be a fool but he was already betrayed more than once, so I doubt he would take the word of some Mafia guy he doesn’t know over something that important to him. He got the information from locals and he knows VC better than Tommy ever did. Lance’s insecurities played a key role in his character development but it’s honestly sad and I honestly believe he’s not as much of a scummy evil villain like other antagonists are. Additionally Tommy treats many people like shit as well. Tommy thought the empire was his own creation and just his own and was overall just an egotistical, narcissistic power-hungry mob boss who is honestly not better than those he killed. I really doubt Lance was a spy for Sonny all along, but if I will ever be proven wrong, I’ll be the first person to admit it. I think his friendship with Tommy was genuine and that he had a downward spiral when Vic died. It’s clear he was not acting rationally.
That's true, that information might have been given from cortez but I think his betrayal is weired though has Tommy always made Lance feel safe and appriciated and did everything for him
@CeyezI’d like to think that Tommy respected Lance as a friend for his help but did not consider him an equal partner as he did not with everyone because he was arrogant and on a power trip
(2:52) i think he meant "i'll be watching you" as in a deal is still a deal tommy if you find"my money and your drugs be a real business man and give me whats mineand not take both"
My thing is lance bro.. you know what Tommy did, you know what Tommy do, he killed many with you and without you why wouldn’t you stay on this man’s side 😂😂😂
@Ceyez I wouldn't say too emotional to be one - Tommy had a soft side for Earnest Kelly, as he was outright furious when Sonny's men beat him up and he promised to tear Sonny two new assholes (and he did). And when he's out of the hospital after the epilogue, he speaks to him via phone call in a tone that is comparable to someone talking to an elderly person they deeply care about. I think immature, short-sighted, and selfish would be a better way to describe Lance. All he cared about were the spoils and anyone that could benefit him. He never believed in the bro code either, not even with his own godforsaken brother(s).
Lance was an idiot for playing Tommy like a fiddle. His greediness gets him killed.
