I was 11 when it came out. You can't imagine how much it blew our little minds. Glad the younger zoomers appreciate this CERTIFIED hood classic now too. 2nd best GTA ever.
I spent much, much of my time on Vice City. I like that it had a main character that actually took initiative. Tommy Vercetti actually DID things on his own volition. He didn't need to be told to do this heist or that heist at every corner, unlike some others (Nico, I'm looking at you!). Mr. Vercetti took charge in the later stages of the game.

I also like how you could literally participate in building your little empire by taking over businesses and having a steady source of income from them
@Owken! no, they had that in Vice City as well. Tommy could buy business outright or after missions where you "dispose of" the original owners and they would generate income which you collected by walking through the floating cash icon. Although taking over is perhaps a bit vague. More like kill the people that ambushed you at the start of the game, take their stuff , and screw over the Dan from liberty city, while also taking out the local cartel boss and setting up shop in his mansion after killing him.
@@easternrebel1061 Yep, but honestly VCS did it waaay better, you could buy and even invade land and make it your own, and then choose what you wanna do with that business ( Protection Racket, Loan Sharks etc.. ) and even the combat was really good matching even gta 4s combat system, even with all the limitations of the PSP, it somehow did some stuff waay better than VC.
The game is legendary. They really dialed up the production values with the voice talent, Ray Liotta, Burt Reynolds, David Fichtner, the guy who played Tubbs played Lance, etc.
The footage in the video is sadly the re-release after they took out Michael Jackson's music and downgraded the graphics. I distinctly remember the city looking a bit more shiny after the rains.
