Stay safe out there, be mild mannered to one another and all the best!
With the Pacific Salt the tip is more blunted / sheep’s foot esque than the endura. Blade is also taller on the pacific than the endura. Seki is really stepping up in terms of grinds. Note: The pocket clip on the pacific salt might be titanium, It isn’t ferromagnetic and feels like titanium to the touch. The lockbar is magnetic, which means it is steel. Spyderco definitely put a lot of attention to detail into the Seki salt models to make them not just their normal with rustproof steel.
I agree, its definately titanium in the clip and steel on the lockbar. Even a couple on bladeforums think so.
I was afraid you were not going to mention the shackle key, but you did. You did not mention the lanyard holes. As a sailor looking for emergency knives to keep in our PFD’s, shackle keys, blunt sheep’s foot blades and lanyard holes are crucial. Also, a marlin spike would be nice (the Tusk is too heavy and expensive to keep as an emergency knife-but it’s a great working tool on a boat). Based on what I saw in your review, the Atlantic wins (even though I’m crossing the Pacific and halfway to Japan now). Sailboats have shackles everywhere. Blunt tip blades make it difficult to puncture your PFD or life raft. They also make it difficult to puncture your crew when waves throw you across the deck. It’s a shame sailors are not reviewing knives like this-I can’t find any on RUclips.
Good luck out there on the open seas! Appreciate you watching and the feedback.
I really want to try the Pacific salt 2. Great review.
That sheepsfoot looks like it'll make a great work knife. I already carry a SE salt 2 for work this would give me a nice PE to pair with it.
I have to say, the blade on the Atlantic is very well done. The ergos are more of what leans me towards the Pacific. Both are great work knife options, in SE or PE. Thanks for watching!
You are guilty, sir, of feeding my addiction! I was on my way with my 12-step knife withdrawal program, and then you come along with this. Ha. Seriously, I had wondered about the Atlantic, I love that blade. I’m gonna get one! Appreciate the review.
Ha!! I admit it... I'm a shameless enabler. The Atlantic is pretty unique, let me know how you like it. Thanks for watching my man!
The forward finger is really an interesting part. I prefer it and wish they put it on more the Spyderco lineup. They use ALMOST as a distinction for the Byrd line. Cool to see them port it over 🤷🏼♂️. Good stuff man!!
Two really good looking knives. Seems like you get a good bang for the buck. I really like the look of the sheepsfoot blade. Great video 👍
The blade on the Atlantic looks a little odd but I am digging it!! Great comparison brother! Thanks for sharing!!
Yeah, you know I kinda like the look of the Atlantic better to be honest. It's unique, reminds me of a crocodile for some reason. Lol. Just wasn't a fan of the ergos. Thanks for watching man!
Had my Atlantic gen 1 for 10 years recently lost it 😞 carried it EVERY day. Was discontinued for a bit, luckily i found they are making it again. Im in the sea going service i could not recommend a better knife for the job.
So glad you can grab another one! Both the Atlantic and Pacific are really tops notch sea going knives, I completely agree. Great materials and build and frankly a pretty good value. Appreciate you watching!
I'm a sailor (literally sailing with sails) and I'm not gonna lie, that shackle key would be much handier than the oversupplied bottle opener that you seem to find on 80% of edc gear.
Cool comparison. I think I like the Atlantic better. Keep it up!
The Atlantic definitely has a lot going for it. Thanks for watching!
I have been looking forward to this
Right on! Two well done knives in my opinion, really comes down to aesthetic preference and use I think. Thanks for watching Mark!
Nice review. Trying to decide between the two. Likely go with the atlantic to avoid stabbing myself while bobbing in my kyak or in a boat.
Thanks for the kind words Jake! I went with the Pacific because I wanted a more traditional blade shape and am not on or around boats very much. That said, I think if you do plan to carry and use it like you describe, the Atlantic makes perfect sense. Appreciate you checking out the review!
You've earned my sub. Keep up the good work!
@@JakeAho Right on! Thanks for the support!
Sure do like my Siren.so much I got another just in case.
Siren is a great option for sure! Thanks for checking out the review.
I’m deviating a native salt or a Atlantic. Help me break the tie lol
Native Salt for sure!
Well reviewed. Good job
Thanks very much. Really appreciate you checking out the review.
Thanks i think ill get an Atlantic despite my catastrophic experience with Enduras, plural
I like these comments. Someone says I had a terrible experience with a product. Someone else: what happened? Then crickets 🦗
Kenny Bania got you a thumbs up and a subscribe sir!!
Lol. Awesome! Thanks for checking out the video and the support!
The Byrd Cara Cara Rescue is a great alternative to the Atlantic. I use it in the garden, for harvesting, etc (the orange handle is also perfect for finding in the garden). The blade design is great for avoiding accidentally nicking yourself or plants that you didn’t mean to cut. The Byrd costs just over $30, which is an amazing value
I'd be curious to see how the FRN would wear being used regularly as a shackle key. Seems like it would get chewed up.
I had a similar thought. I checked inside to see if there was any kind of metal reinforcement, none I could see. FRN is pretty tough stuff, but it remains to be seen I guess. Thanks for checking out the video!
I would have liked to see some reinforcement for the shackle key as well
Really liked the review. How are you going to get those scales Orange. The Atlantic looks a bit odd. Like the size and shape of the Pacific. For harder jobs the Atlantic is probably better. I know the steel is better just have issues paying 100 or more for FRN. I wish they would release these in natural micarta with screws not rivets. That way I could dye it any color I wanted.
