I can't get enough of this game. I absolutely love its charming scenery and characters. I love games with a mission and no extreme fighting. I have been a Nintedo die-hard player for a very long time ( I'm a 70yr old grandmother now) and I'm so glad that we have Splatoon 2 and Mario Odessey but, this game Yonder has blown me away with its casual laid-back design and just a beautiful world where you don't have to worry about money. It's a change from the hectic world we live in now.
I agree! I love games like Pokemon, Zelda, Yonder etc. It's amazing how immersed I get into their worlds that are just filled with a sort of child-like wonder. It sounds sappy but it always brings me happiness to meet and interact with kind and interesting npc's in Nintendo style games instead of the dark and gloomy interactions you'll have in for example The Witcher (not that I don't love The Witcher) :)
NO FIGHTING! Hurrah! Everything in the world is so awful right now. Why on earth would I want to deal with more contentiousness in a game? I am loving the setting and visuals while stuck inside. It is so beautiful and so relaxing. Exactly what I need right now.
Just downloaded this game a few days ago and it is so relaxing. No combat, no killing or getting killed... Just completing quests and gathering items in a beautiful scenery. I recommend the game to anyone who hasn't played it yet :)

@@dmace81 it must be hard to enjoy life when you feel the need to apply political stereotypes to bits of data on a screen. Everything doesn't have to be political, just relax and enjoy the cute game.
Just picked up a switch and Yonder. An absolutely beautiful game. So far, not as deep as I was hoping, but I've only been playing for a few hours. For example - rebuilding the farm... I was hoping there was more involvement than just meeting the quest requirements.
Update: I figured it out. Doink. Previous: Newbie gamer, with a question: What control buttons are you using to move between the Trades tabs (at 03:31). UPDATE - I figured it out. There are two buttons at the top of the controller, on each side - use the one just behind the top 'obvious' button, on the right side, to move thru the tabs. (fyi for other newbies, pls pardon the 'greener than spring grass' talk!)
This kind of reminds me of Innocent Life A Futuristic Harvest Moon where there's a mix of farming and exploration but without combat, but Yonder has even more areas to explore and you can jump around and you can seem to rotate the camera freely. This looks fun!
There are quite a bit of things I'd like added to the game, but I still like it. Been so stressed out lately; I like coming home from work and chillin on the beach with my groffle.
Just ordered the game without knowing much about it. So your review greatly put my mind at ease :) it reminds me a little of Harvest Moon and had the visuals i always hoped Harvest Moon would have one day. Thanks a ton for this review!
Considering that this game was made by only three people, I am impressed which makes me feel bad about the fact that I will not be getting it. Sadly the game just lacks what could be a great game. If the farming system was deep then I could have played it as a farming sim where I explore while waiting for my crops to grow but the farming system looks to be on a basic level. Fetch quests are okay IF they are executed well but in this case this does not seem to be the case. Everything about the game sounds great on paper but I think we you dive into it it feels all and all mediocre. I am not basing that just off of this video alone but off of a lot of reviews and things I have seen from it.

I would buy this for the art style and exploration alone. While I don't mind a completely combat-free game, (To the Moon has no combat and it is awesome) a game like this may have benefitted slightly from a slight fighting mechanic.
I don't know how you can compare To The Moon to anything in the RPG exploration genre... it's literally a linear story-based non-RPG interactive movie that lets you make decisions on certain things. Still an EXCELLENT game, but just a weird comparison to make.
I have this on the switch and my character's legs bend really weird when I walk. My legs work fine when I wear the butler slack, but not on anything else. Does anyone else experience this? Btw I am in love with this game!!!!
