- Japanese television has to be the strangest and most spectacular in the world. Where pretty much anything can happen. And that's without even getting into Japanese gameshows.
1. Pantyhose
What kind of a game could possibly require both contestants to put a pair of pantyhose over their heads? Only a Japanese tug of war!
2. Takeshi's Castle
Before American Ninja Warrior, Ultimate Beastmaster or any of the other Western variations, was Takeshi's Castle. Where each week General Tani led a new group of one hundred ill-prepared contestants through the frankly dangerous trials and pitfalls in order to storm the castle. The contestant who manages to overthrow the evil Takeshi wins a million yen.
3. Binocular Soccer
Binocular Soccer is exactly what it sounds like. Apart from the outlandish presenters, the contestants have backwards binoculars strapped to their heads so everything looks very far away. The first person to score a goal wins.
4. The Team Fight
The Team Fight is a hilarious gameshow hosted by comedy duo DownTown who not only host the show but participate in the challenges as leader for each team.
5. Stealthiest Animal
Why is a turkey going all "kaiju" on this delicate domino ralley? How is this a gameshow premise? And now an anteater? It's guess the Stealthiest Animal!
Which animal will follow the path without setting off the dominos?
6. Slicing Veg with a car
How do they come up with these things?
7. What is Under the Kotatsu?
This game consists of a panel of bare-legged police detectives trying to guess the criminal underneath the table. Using only their bare legs.

The craziest thing here was that they made a cameraman stand that close to a speeding car with a knife stuck to it.

I think they'd actually do too well... as soon as a single professional player gets it they can dribble it through muscle memory and shoot it similarly. Even if the goal looks far away they just shoot it on ground level in the right direction.
Nothing crazies, but which one memories? Takrshi's castle is the memories for my childhood sake :D

I used to watch takeshis castle in pogo when I was small . The games r so cool . I used to think to actually participate in the games so much fun . Best games but I wonder if the gameshow is actually running or not

Takeshi's Castle used to be on TV here in the US. I used to watch it every time it was on. It was the first Japanese TV show I ever saw, and from then on I was hooked!

Takeshi's Castle. I have been searching for this ever since some stupid very UNFUNNY Australian show tried to make it look stupid!!! Great sense of humour and great sense of life. If I had my life over, I would spend a lot of it in Japan.

'Susunu! Denpa Shōnen' a Japanese reality TV show which aired from January 11, 1998 to September 29, 2002 on the Nihon TV network, and online from October 2009.
The title is a pun. The predecessor of the show was called Susume Denpa Shōnen (lit. Forward! Signal Youth). To depict that the show indeed moved forward, one of the characters of the title was made longer by changing the "me" (め) to "nu" (ぬ), approximately meaning Do not advance! Signal Youth.
The show is known for the extreme situations the participants were placed in. Denpa Shōnen teki Kenshō Seikatsu (電波少年的懸賞生活 lit. "a life out of prizes by Denpa Shōnen") is probably one of the most known challenges of the show. Nasubi, a young comedian, forced to live over 15 months naked in an apartment in both Japan and Korea by living only on commercial sweepstakes prizes.
I have to admire this nutty guy's iron determination and driving ambition to win despite dangerously long periods of time of not eating or seeing anyone (mostly deliverymen). He was not a prisoner, he actually toughed these challenges out, even though the TV producers were changing the rules to make succeeding more difficult. Sure, he went nuts, naked and alone, dancing and conversing with a camera, being exploited for a TV show, but some determined people will do anything for fame.
