I don't really see misery there. He just had issues like most adults and many celebs have said that the life of luxury is not all that's cracked to be. Nobody on the earth is 100 percent content or happy.
I think that's sad man, some people don't realize their own beauty, their own greatness. I like to look on the spiritual alternative side of life, im not an occult guy though, but ive never understood that whole search for who you are thing, but i guess if your looking in the first place your already lost, maybe being lost is a good thing, who knows. He was obviously mad, but i suppose the best people are. As i said, some people don't know how great they are. He was very talented and entertained lots of people and that's something to be happy for.
Peter was a genius, but at the same time, he was desperately unhappy. Happens a lot too comics. I never knew he hated the colour green, and his behaviour was so "off the wall" I read that his son Michael died of a heart attack onthe anniversary of his father's death. Bitter iriony of that is incredibly sad. Rip Peter and Michael
The film fails to mention that he was on a film set when his mother died. The paranormal thing and not being present at his own mothers bedside as she pass's away. That is a strange cocktail to live with as a young adult pschologicaly. He was a exstrordinary person on screen etc. Butt he had some so called inner demons that made him edgy through a large portion of his life.
"He finally squandered reality in a desperate search for the unknowable." You know what, good for him. It was his life to live and do with as he wanted. If he was out of balance, maybe he'll get it right next time around. Who's to judge that it was a life squandered. He gave us incredible genius performances because of his oddness - and that was ok because movies are "acceptable" unreality - and we don't say he squandered reality when he gave us some of the funniest performances on film. Kind of a judge-y tone in this doc. I also had to laugh at the medium who basically said she lied to him that she was delivering messages from his mom as a way to control him. So he may have been looking in the wrong places, and got a lot of charlatans around him, and got turned inside out with it, but who is to judge his search and the knowledge he was searching for.
I also think that having no siblings as well as being famous must have made his life quite isolating. I totally agree with you, I don't know why they insist on presenting him as some kind of failure and loser when he was anything but!
I was told by a medium not to buy a green car, so I didn’t just in case. She was credible though, told me specifically two things that I’d never told anyone else so I have open mind.

I think that fame looks very isolating, and he had no siblings, no family to bring him down to earth. | It annoys me to hear so many people say that he was no one underneath the characters he embodied, because it's untrue for everyone, and certainly for him. A person that doesn't ever question reality or go on a spiritual journey in life is the poor man in my book.
One has to wonder what Peter Sellers' reaction would have been had this doc. been made while he was alive. I also wonder if there's not some retributive intentions in many of these comments. If many of these comments about his quest for answers from psychics and mediums are true, I feel sorry for him. Coming from a Judeo-Christian perspective, it's a totally forbidden practice.
I hope you are happy wherever you are right now Peter.
GREAT DOCO, VERY WELL TOLD.
great documentary. wasn't aware that Sellers was so troubled. i think we all have a Sellers in us.
Agree
I wouldn't blame his unhappiness on his spiritual search. I think his insecurities for the most past made him unhappy.
Yeah but they have to keep Christians scared of any spiritual search outside their religion, so they keep being ignorant and powerless.
Geez I hope Peter’s life wasn’t as miserable as this vid makes it out to be.
so sad, poor peter.

Never will be another Peter sellers for better or worse
such a strange enigma,a fascinating man
I saw his last film you could sadly see the poor man was dying as he looked so I,ll.he was a good actor god rest his soul.

When was the last time Sophia Loren sat on your face? Peter was looking in the right place for 'messages' there.
Excellent and perceptive comment- I totally agree.

The stupid trite comment at the end ruined what was an otherwise good insight into a very complex man.
Fascinating!

Excellent documentary.
He needed God.
That's it, indeed.
Nobody needs god.

Sounds like cluster A, schizotypal mostly.

unbalanced documentary.
