I will admit, Yami is an interesting choice for a final boss. The embodiment of darkness in the Okami universe, and it reeks havoc on two worlds for whatever reasons it has. Plus Capcom did a good job translating Yami from Okami into Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
Yami is such a great boss in Okami - multiple stages and the odds are stacked against you, but the way you turn the tide in the battle is true to the game and everyone you met during the story. When I first played TvC, and saw Yami as the final boss, it was an all-time gaming highlight.
i remember showing this to a friend of mine who loved okami, but as she never played this she was questioning why Amaterasu wasn't in this, because she felt the fox needed to be here if Yami was.
Still find it weird that Ammy was absent from this game and yet the final boss is here. She was in MvC3 afterwards but just seems weird to put a boss in the game without the antagonists.
The music you hear during the fight against Yami's third form IS truly epic. Okami-style music FTW. And that Shinkuu Tatsumaki Senpyuu Kyaku dealt so much damage to the boss. O_O Was Ryu's legs on steroids or something?
my friend is thinking of making a Shonen Jump vs Capcom with this yami as the final boss. megaman not a playable character. those of you who disapprove suck it. i think its a great idea. as well as a Nintendo vs Capcom. Who's with me?
CreepersPasta クリーパー パスタ The best thing you could do in that regard is go to the settings and set the difficulty to 1-star, increase the damage and initial meter to max, then abuse long-range hypers like Ryu's Shinku Hadoken, Volnutt's Machine Gun Sweep and Tekkaman's Voltekka. The last one especially does an amazing amount of damage by itself (which is not granted for most hypers in the game) and with 1-star difficulty, Yami hardly goes on the aggressive... or should not, anyway. Beating Yami otherwise kinda comes down to doing a single (aerial) move, then anticipating an action on Yami's end and super jump away and repeat. Keep at it!
***** you talked about how it would have been interesting to have all 5 forms present. The problem with that idea is that Forms 2 & 3 are not very well tailored for a fighting game. Maybe you could do something for the second form with the flames and discs, but form 3 is a slot machine meaning A: He could only counter-attack by stopping the reels or B: his attacks would be completely random with the reels aligning quickly. Not to mention in recent memory the only fighting game boss I have encountered with that many forms is Smash 4's Master Core which has 5 phases(Excluding fortress)(Master&Crazy, Giant, Beast, Edges & Shadow). Said boss can die over and over for it's absurd difficulty especially in it's last 2 forms. Then there is Fortress a "phase" that changes gameplay in unfair ways, requiring an lighter more agile character to navigate safely even though prior forms call for a tank to withstand the damage output of the 5 forms needed to get there.
when you say it like that, it does, but to someone who literally just started the game yesterday it's obnoxious that they ask that of you. yami should be a secret boss.
I can't believe Yami is losing to these LOSERS. And the music ''The Rising Sun'' can't play without Amaterasu. I mean Shiranui. Why Amaterasu or Shiranui can't play in this game??
I kind of love that a more stylized game gets its main villain as the final boss.

@Caleb Hopkins Still the greatest final boss in my opinion though (Okami).
@Caleb Hopkins yami Minecraft skin
@Caleb Hopkins yes
Can you imagine if Nintendo and Namco added Yami as one of the final bosses in Super Smash Bros Ultimate?
@Caleb Hopkins He was lying

The battle theme gets way more fiendish throughout each form Yami takes... It's amazing!!!

Yami's title is Tokoyami no Sumeragi, The Emperor of Eternal Darkness.
you just know at the last form, that EPIC ASS music helps you along the way
That was the quickest I've seen anyone beat it good job

The boss stage is so hard that up till now, i didn't beat the boss
What happened to yami's gambling form
Although I've never played okami or this game yami looks like tough boss in both games
Dylan Bell In Okami he has like 5 different forms before this- This is just his final form.
D. Buck i know but that was a while ago I have the okami HD remake
...1st form Yami really spams with that hp/hyper meter drain attack
@Muggshotter I am, Im talking about Yami, he skipped phase 2 and 3 and directly went to phase 4.
Shuichi Saihara
No, Yami’s Fire sphere and slot machine forms are absent from the game. And so is Amaterasu!
Amaterasu should've been here.
Red from the Pokemon video game series and Ash from the Pokemon anime series has met their final match...
Shadow Mewtwo from _Pokken Tournament!_
2.650 BILLION DAMAGE? WTF!

I was on board until no Megaman, he deserves to be back
What about Hanna-Barbera vs Capcom?
i like how they put theoriginal rising sun thmem in this fight why coulnd marvel vs capcom 3 do that
so yami but not amaterasu? :l . . . where is the logic in that?
*Because Yami is an actual villain who was responsible for many crimes, though it would've been nice of Amaterasu was an unlock able.*
the boss is from okami.. amaterasu the wolf-sama
did anyone else find themselves acctualy rooting for Yami
That YES sounds like Captain Falcon's
She's fighting Galactus.
1:14 ryu says the n word
That was a fail my guy.
after playing Okami, I just realized who this boss was.
Master hand vs Yami final form....
The final form reminds me of Master Hand from Smash Bros.
@InstantClassicCDPunk he is a master hand
I cant believe i was scared of this thing when i was ten it's just a fucking ball vjajvfavkfavjafbkfsfifjvfai
Also is there an easy mode to switch to in the game...?

Yea... i beat him.. but i worked hard for just a short end cutscene.. :/

Wait, is ammy in this game?
ios am,aterasusu in this game
0:37 eikö toi mee nyt jo vähän liioitteluksi? "2.650 Billion Damage!" ö_ö
this fight wound have been so hard if capcom would of put amater
capcom yami not op enough plz buff :3
when you say it like that, it does, but to someone who literally just started the game yesterday it's obnoxious that they ask that of you. yami should be a secret boss.
I could only beat this boss one time 😭
He's too hard for me to beat... the game is fun but hard to beat..
Beat Yami is easier than beat the robots lol.
i like zero and jun the swan.
And an even bigger insult to Amaterasu
What a cheater, he skipped phases.
Okami sequel
This is an insult to Yami....

I don't wanna think of this but I'm thinking Ammy could of been defeated by Yami and so it was up to the other capcom characters to stop him
i defeated yami
