I like how the F1 used the term “safety” and then quickly added “can’t watch for free” afterwards….
Because it is for safety. Imagine you leave it open when people are passing over the bridge and they're gonna stop to watch and clog the whole bridge.
They do this for F1 events at actual tracks too. This isn't a money grab thing. Normal practice.
God forbid, someone stops for a photo. And if im in Vegas BEFORE this event, dont block my view, the race isnt even happening. I paid good money not to be obstructed.
@@SH-oo5fd Life is so tough. I hope you're able to still enjoy your trip.
@@SH-oo5fd these are preparations for the grand prix weekend when thousands of people will use that bridge. Dont be so small minded
I understand not wanting to overload the pedestrian bridge. But that last part about catching a "FREE" glimpse really put it into perspective.
Glimpse being the key word.
That was also a Clark County official who said the "free glimpse" quip.
what sporting event allows people to watch for free
@@alexj.5207 Every marathon, the Tour de France, many rally events... bottom line is if you are using public streets the public should not have their views blocked. If you want to block views then take your own money and build a track with controlled entry.
@@kennethfharkin They should take it up with their city/county government then, shouldn't they? F1 would need their approvals to do this. Also, other than these bridges, where do you think the public could safely view the track from? You can still walk the Strip during the race and you won't be able to see anything almost entirely due to catch fencing, which you can't approach for track personnel and emergency personnel.
f1 in vegas sounds like a logistical nightmare and there is almost certainly going to be major issues dealing with crowds and pedestrian flow.
All road courses are hard to manage but F1 has experience with Monaco or Singapore and this is YEARS of planning so they've already got it figured out. F1 is a logistical nightmare for the common man but they're experts.
@@brekiarnz161 if putting film over glass that people are now removing is the choice of experts...well.. .its a "we're gonna need a bigger boat" situation.
@@brekiarnz161aren't we still waiting on their "plan" to get us workers to the strip properties? Beyond "there will be a bus shuttle from *somewhere* to *somewhere-else* ?? No one is gonna show up to work that week, even if they try.

@@brekiarnz161Monaco was built for F1 and Singapore has an advanced mass transit system. Las Vegas isn’t any of those things.

Pictures they will never look at again...
@@mrsleep0000They will flaunt pictures of the Sphere to their friends back home fore sure.

It's clearly not for safety but rather they don't want the people watching for free. If everyone watching from there has to pay $50 a person, they would quickly remove it.
30,000 people standing on pedestrian bridges watching F1 might cause a bridge collapse.
all race tracks cover bridges. It IS for safety reasons.
As @bizaro1234 said, it's actually for safety. At Circuit of the Americas in Austin, a purpose-built race track, the view from the internal bridges over the circuit is obscured to prevent people (all of whom have paid for admission) from standing on the bridge to watch. Otherwise, the bridge becomes impassable and if there's a need to get out of the circuit in an emergency, it becomes impossible to do so quickly for many. The bridge also only has so much capacity. This is just SOP for any race, whether at a street race or a race at a purpose-built circuit. It's just that this is the US's first true street race for F1 in a very long time so people are flipping out about everything.
I live near Circuit of the Americas, trust me the pedestrian bridges, which ONLY ticket holders have access to are covered. It is a SAFETY THING. This is true of the Silverstone in the UK. And it's true of Singapore which has arguably FAR FAR FAR better views than Las Vegas (I've been to both cities and Singapore is my second favorite city on earth next to Hong Kong).
JUST USE THE I -15 FREEWAY, PROBLEM SOLVED@@imunfathomable
They want to make sure that they can still Charge 4 to 5 figures for a ticket to watch a car race. They don't seem to understand they brought that car race to a city and the people of the city have a right to see what's happening in their city on the streets that they pay for
Paradise, where F1 is held is a private sovereign city owned by billionaire corporations.
@@Facefully. Its no wonder the media began to attack Orwell.
Let Them Eat Cake !
This is a PUBLIC walkway!!!
but but but ... the safety
A walkway over a track where cars will pass with 350 km/h. Can‘t have camera flashes, laser pointers or people throwing bottles down.
Oo oo I know the answer to this one!
Dont have a race near/under public walkways. Then everyone wins. Instead they complain, the tourists complain, and everyone has a worse time. Nice.
@WhoEls the danger of lasers/cameras still exists for crowds on the side of the road and they could put a net up instead of film on the bridge to prevent objects. This is solely to keep people from watching the race for free
@@WhoElsif this is their concern why are they having the event in Las Vegas
Not for safety, for profit and greed.
F1: If you can't see the "danger" coming, it cant hurt you 😂😂😂
Yeah, let's call it "safety film" because otherwise we might "seem" greedy!!
its both
It's funny how jaded you are. F1 couldn't give a flying f about the couple hundred grand they might be missing out on pedestrian traffic catching a "glimpse". Someone throwing something into the track and destroying a $10M car, or injuring a driver paid $50M/year. That probably has them turning gray. Also, since Homeland rose the threat level, that may have a lot to do with this too. Wake the f up! 😡
Literally done inside closed race tracks as well where there are only ticket holders. It's done at races that are small where there are few people.
Companies have gotten so money hungry and less fun and friendly to people. This is so dumb rip that shit down

It is for safety so that the pedestrian traffic keeps flowing instead of people stopping to watch what happens down below.
@@quatrax8691 yeah I heard their BS reason. I bet it's not for safety at all

Especially with more people moving to Vegas. Everyone should rip all the film off. This is a pedestrian bridge and open to the public.
It's for safety bruh. Flow of traffic.
Amen!
@@quatrax8691 that’s just what they’re saying.
@@MichaelInTheDesert no thats just basic traffic flow. If people stop to watch on the bridge it reduces the flow of traffic and creates blockages. Which creates unsafe situations.
@@quatrax8691 just like they’re blocking all the sidewalks, I do not believe this is solely about pedestrian safety. This is about controlling what you can and can’t see.
remove all the films greedy company
Duh, it's because PEOPLE will STOP on the bridge to watch the Race...Long Beach has had races since the 70's, it brings in MILLION$ to the City and Businesses, it's just "new" to you complainers.
All that shit should be removed. Public walkway, F1 has NO ability to prevent people from viewing from a Public Walkway.
Was bout to go to Vegas in December and now we are going to Tahoe instead.....
Smart move, im glad i live in Northern Nevada, hell there so greedy down south i wouldnt doubt it if they cover the window seats on airplanes during the race, god forbid you might get a free glimpse of an F1 car from 10,000ft lol all this hoop la over a race when we know Max Verstapen & Red Bull Racing are going to win so the rest is just a formality !
Its for safety so that people don't stop on the bridge and clog it.
@@nevadaboy9769Northern nevada gets all the tax revenue that southern nevada generates, but gives very little back in investments in return. The Beltway was literally funded through private donations, the state only put up a fraction of the cost to build... They should invest more in schools too. Be specific when you are saying who is greedy. International hedge funds that run the monopolized casinos? Absolutely. But the problem also lies in Carson City.
Smart move, there might be a strike affecting the casinos going on unless it gets resolved soon. Enjoy Lake tahoe.
You are 100% correct F1 does not have the right. Guess who does though? Thats right, The City, County, State and Federal, All have rights to trump any OPINION. Including yours! How about that!
So proud of people standing up to greedy F1.
It is for saftey tho. Bridges that cross permanent tracks only accessible to ticket holders are covered. And F1 are PAYING Vegas to host the race, weras others pay to host the race.
Greedy F1 will be responsible for $1.3 billion dollars entering the Vegas economy next week alone. It's hard to look a gift horse in the mouth but by golly Nevada will give it their best shot.
Even if they're gonna put that shit on, why TWO WHOLE WEEKS + before the event?? Garbage move by F1, even as a motorsport fan
F1 greed ruining it for everyone else. If they were that worried, it would've been a lot cheaper to just hire an off duty police officer to stand on the bridge and say "move along" without ruining the view for everyone else the entire week. God knows how much they blew on that film that ends up in the garage pile. And the cost to put it up and pull it down.
If you think that's something, you should see how many miles of carpet get put down for every large convention in the Las Vegas Convention Center
If they actually meant it was for safety they'd just....CLOSE THE FUCKING BRIDGE LIKE THE OTHER ROADWAYS THEY PAID-....oh right....
They will absolutely have police to keep people from watching
It won't cost them anything to pull it down it's already being done for them
It's ironic the residents of the world's greediest metropolis are complaining about greed.
There's a select few people getting rich off this race, and the locals are tourist are paying the price.
Tell them to take there formula back we don’t want it if they are going to be that dam cheap
With the prices F1 is charging they don't need to block any views 😂
That sounds as plausible as Costco telling you they check your receipt to make sure you did not forget anything LOLOLOL
If they were so concerned about safety, they should have held the race in the desert!
LOL
Wonder what costs more, adding this film and the overhead barriers or hiring a couple security guards to walk the bridge?
there will be security quards on the bridge
If you think a couple of security guards can handle the crowd control of tens of thousands of people... you don't understand how big events, especially F1 races work. The population of Las Vegas will increase by between 1/2 to 1 million people that weekend. Those are not numbers you can throw a "couple" of security guards at.
Yeah no way that shits gonna stay for ten senconds once the race starts lmao.
its one thing to put it up the weekend of the race but you cant block tourists from the views of the strip for TWO WEEKS leading up to the race wtf
Power to the people
Have ya looked at F1 race-day tickets? As far as I’m concerned, they’ve priced me out of ever attending, and I make a decent 6-figure income. I can see the city being concerned about the number of folks on those walkways, but F1 did this purely for the $$$$.
GIVE LAS VEGAS BACK!!!!! GOOD GRIEF!!!!! WHY ARE THEY TURNING VEGAS INTO A SPORTS CITY ALL AT THE THE COST OF THE PEOPLE!!!!
Well. Just close the bridges when the race is going on. Not putting up that stupid film 3 weeks before!
Yes. Just close access to multiple casinos to 250,000 to 750,000 people for 3 days. You're so smart.
It would be easiest just to add 1 police officer on each bridge to tell people move along. Heck even rent a cops can do that..
And when the tourists need to cross the road they will jump the barrier and use the bridge anyway.
And where should people cross. In front of the stupid F1 cars? Smh
@@jonathansykes4986 It's not 3 whole days. The race lasts a few hours late night each day. And the bridges are not the only way to cross the streets in Vegas Einstein. 😂
If they didn't want it messed with, they should have mounted the film on the OUTSIDE!!!
They're implementing all restrictions
It's our turn
Surprised they haven’t tired blocking hotel windows. God forbid someone gets a “free” glimpse of the race
It is for saftey, not greed. Bridges that cross tracks a permanent circuits (at FIA grade one tracks at least) have no windows for this reason, and they are only accessible to ticket holders
FF1 is a shitshow !!!!
Keep speaking out people
hope the race will be good
Only if you aren't a fan of Verstappen
This all could of been avoided if they had the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and yes they do have a road course there besides the NASCAR oval. No headaches for visitors, people trying to get to work, nobody.
No, nobody wants the premier motor racing event in the world and second largest sport on earth at a NASCAR track. We want to see it on the strip. It's literally what everyone who cares about his kind of racing has always wanted to see, cars flying down the strip. Sorry they don't have THE LAS VEGAS STRIP at a NASCAR OVAL.
I'm so so so glad that for once racing fans won. We have to listen to y'alls complaints and get pushed further and further out of cities and told to go away. But for once we won and there isn't a DAMN THING you can do about it. Cry harder. We'll enjoy our race for once.
@@vulpinemachine Holy sense of entitlement batman! There's a reason why people tell F1 to go away, and it's not because they are hating on F1, It's a logistics nightmare and Vegas is finding out the hard way. You're extremely lucky this works in Monaco but it sure as hell aint working in Vegas and it won't work in Chicago, New York, LA, or any other public streets. Other wise they wouldn't need to build race tracks in the first place .
You really think the FIA (and yes I watched F1 in the 2000's so I know what I'm talking about) is doing this for the fans? Hell no, they are in it to line their pockets like any mob would do. Even Max Verstappen said this is more about a show and a race and and he's right. a track will always put on better RACING than a street, that's what they are built for. There's not even that much actual racing in Monaco either, just a show.

Yeah, because the film is stupid and actually no different than graffiti. It is an absolutely ridiculous idea. All you have to do is control traffic across the walkways. If they happen to see for a few seconds, it is not suddenly ending the whole F1 race.
You also know F1 will abandon everything day 1 after the race is over leaving the garbadge and crap we had to pay for ourselves for F1s benefactors with ZERO actual return to us who paid for their race!
LOL you're a moron
You don't know how traffic flow works apparently. People are gonna stop on the bridge to watch and hinder the traffic flow wich just isnt safe.

@quatrax8691 Smoothbrain: Control traffic. It was said in OP. Do you grock that? or should you get back to your cave?
The real answer is the FIA and Vegas are SUPER greedy.
Well she said the real reason briefly at the end “money”
For "safety" of F1s bottom line you mean right. Can't let people get these great views for free. But also can't not let people on these bridges.
If Monaco can host this without restricting the locals, why can't Las Vegas?
Can't Make Money Off People Walking On a Public Bridge F1 Racing

It was the most selfish shit I have ever seen.
Prevents having to have security constantly managing the flow of traffic
@yigameiser is not for security is for people dont wacth for free
The public LV TAXPAYERS have paid a reported $40 million towards this venue...but aren't allowed to see it...go figure.
There's no reason to put up that film on the bridge weeks in advance.. nicer if they just enforced no loitering on the bridge during the event. And let you glimpse as you go over the walkway
They should have put the film on the other side.
It is for safety $$$$$$$$$😂

Saw this stuff go up, it took about 3 hours for it to be ripped.
When are we all going to get sick enough of business and government using "safety" as a weapon to restrict our civil rights that we do something about it?? Freedom of assembly, movement and liberty are core pillars of American society, but when someone yells "safety!" too many of us react cowardly, usually for fear of shame, rather than stop and decide whether a restriction is really for safety or for something more sinister.

Classic case of profit in the name of safety. I would make a freedom of information request to local authority - oh wait no that involves real investigative journalism.

So close the bridges during the race, like they do with streets in every other city.

Bull crap
Why don't they just put the film on the outside of the glass? 😒
Why not close all the overpasses
That’s some BS. Greedy mfrs. The bridge is always crowded during most holidays and weekends. They said it correctly. Don’t want to give them a free glimpse of the race cars. Damn shame
The ladies accent tells me she ripped it down when she got there, it was not torn already.
Stay sheltered.
I can imagine too many people on the bridge could be a hazard. Vegas was so much better when the mob ran it. I was there 88-2016, watched the city explode with people, kinda sux now. No comps, overpriced everything, even paid parking, no thanks
People will block up the bridge sure. But suerly you could leave it unblocked until the weekend and then have security or whatever managing foot traffic.
There's a LOT to do to prep for a F1 street race. It's hardly surprising that they're getting this done two weeks out.
Key word "free" glimpse.
I hear the free concept.... I seem to remember an Indy race where a driver crashed and in reviewing the film there was a woman who flashed her chest just before the crash happened. Being that this is LV, I can see F1 not wanting to take chances like this. Why didn't they state this? Why put a thought that may not be on anyone's mind into their minds.... I love the idea of the rave in LV and on the strip however, the strip is unpredictable and with alcohol involved..... I would hate to see the worst that can happen.
Tacky.
Won't see that in Monaco.
That bridge will be absolutely filled with people on face day. Next year it'll all be blocked off, from the outside with more than just a vinyl wrap.
F1 OUT FROM VEGAS
If it was for safety why have glass that can shatter if a car or car parts hit the glass???????

This is your brain on capitalism.
At first I thought wat are they filming then I watched the video and felt dumb 😂
Put the film on the other side of the glass.
that blocked view sends em back into the casino faster...duh
The film should be on outside...
Yeah that's funny they used the words safety and free in the same sentence. They should have just replaced the whole sentence with the word greed.
They can't stop ppl from ripping it down so they might as well take it down
The question why? Greed not Safety!
Free glimpse of the race cars, and there you have it.
The dumbest thing is taxi authorities expecting people to drive when Tropicana, Harmon, Flamingo, and Sands, are blocked oh wait maybe they have flying taxi and Uber 🤦🏻
"It's for safety" lol
For all the people mad they are doing this so people can't watch for free, I went to the Austin Grand Prix and all of the bridges have blocked views and everyone there has already paid. The reason is 100% for people to not obstruct the bridge.
The city isn't full of intelligent people 🤷♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well, they are in last place when it comes to education. 🤣
“Safety”
That'll send them a message
I don't see the issue, watching an F1 race from one vantage point is boring, 22-24 cars zooming by in a second or 2, roughly 48 seconds of cars on one stretch.
I watch on TV for free and I get to see it all.
For " safety."
If they were smart they would have put the film on the outside of the glass.
Why don't they want hundreds standing on the Bridges?? Er.. you really asking?
