No cup for McDavid, but remember he won the skills contest on the course he designed so he has that going for him. Also, you didn't mention watching E. Rod lifting the cup. Super happy for him, he played with grit and I was bummed the avs couldn't keep him but happy for his success and you can tell he has become a fan favorite down there.

I like that kyle talked about how he felt about the panthers when they won. Then there's me looking at them lifting the cup around and realizing the bottom isnt perfectly circular.

This is a good 3 year sample size - by year 2, we will know if he is a top 6, and if the Avs extend.

Lot’s to say about the signing but not going to bore anyone with a novel. What we’ve seen the past couple years is that ex-sabres win cups so I’ll stick with that, ha. Too many unknowns with the Avs right now to get too excited or too down but locking in the 2C spot is a good start and I think Mitts will work out with a full season with the team under his belt.

I allocated $6.5M to CM for 5+ years, & $4M for Drouin. This extra $750k gives CMac some wiggle room on Drouin. It also buys one year of UFA on CM. He made $2.5M last year, so this is a win-win for both sides.

@@petrpumpkineater and that leaves how much money to actually add on to and improve the team? Because this same team coming back won’t win a damn thing.

@@MezterpieceTheater there'll be enough to get a decent 4C & 6D, but the 4W & scratches will need to be league min contracts. Its fine bc this is what contenders deal with. If they dump Val & get Landy back before the playoffs, its all good, baby!

I feel like Florida was making it harder on themselves in game 7. They would have Oilers swarming them on the boards and they absolutely REFUSED to pass the puck back to their uncovered defenseman to get cycling.

I try to stay out of that debate. Both are phenomenal players and took both a long time to reach the finals and only one guy lifted the cup although the other guy did win a conn smythe in the losing effort. Just happy we have Nate (and a cup) and I’ll leave the ‘who’s better’ convo for others. As for the finals, I think the bigger factor was Draisaitl disappearing. Actually quite amazing they took that to seven with him being non-existent that entire series.

@@thenextgreat8652 I do too once in a while I gotta get my jabs in cause I am SO sick of hearing about McDavid this and that. The biggest reason I am glad they lost is because we NEVER would of heard the end of it. Greatests comeback in history, greatest this and that. MAckinnon I belive had the tying goal in game 6. Also I think he had the game winning assist. So like yea we can talk all day about whos better but when it comes to closing the deal Mackinnon is my man. MAYBE after this loss, McDavid will be where he needs to be. We ALL watched and suffered the bad years of the Avs so we know how it goes.

Im sorry but just because you can make a number higher then others does NOT mean you are the best player in the world. The best players in the world deliver, they bring home the cup.

A truly mind-boggling decision. I just don’t see how that dude is worth nearly $6M per year. He’s way too inconsistent for that kind of money. That’s what happens when you put yourself in a desperate position to find a 2C I guess. The direction of this team is straight down at this point. They’re still not going to be able to add scoring depth and improve the blue line, which isn’t good. It’ll be more of the same next year. We will get to the playoffs and not be able to score.
