In theory, I like the idea of classic Midge as a slightly adorkable and relatable, girl-next-door character contrasted with the stunning fashion model glamor of classic Barbie. In practice, though, they really botched her design with a face up expression that makes her look like she’s getting a prostate exam at the doctors.😂

idk i like her expression like its totally relatable kind of like that party meme. like where the person is standing in the corner, and says "no body knows...." totally relatable midge is in a world a of glamourous fashion dolls....and she's just midge...

I love Midge, but I have to admit, the eye thing was weird. You'd think they'd check that. Also the mod PJ dolls just used the Midge face mold, so I hope I can get a PJ doll and make her into Midge someday.

I like Midge because she's a real one. She doesn't need to look like a super model. If everyone looked like Barbie, what makes Barbie special, anyway? Midge is cool, she's down to earth, she's a natural.

Midge never looked so good! I always thought she a bit homely and looked like she had a child’s face with a woman’s body. You are correct-her hair is so coarse! I purchased one a few years back and she came wearing the same vintage Barbie Silken Flame outfit as this one. I LOVE the new styling of her! Now, she looks more suitable as an age-appropriate pal of Barbie.
Right? A lot of odd choices for this character.
They did a Japanese exclusive version which is so cute, I wish they kept that for the main line instead.

As an older person who grew up with Barbie, I have to say how disappointed I was with Midge. I never liked her, as she was designed by Mattel and felt she should have been a foil for Barbie, so someone equally attractive, but obviously different. You did an amazing job with Midge!!
I feel the same way. They really could've done so much with the character (like they did for the Japan exclusive Midge, for instance)

HEY midge has a bad rap! midge is wholesome, and just wants a family with her husband todd! i wish i can find a midge doll....:{ her derpy face is totally relatable...
Well, we love a good, wholesome side character, but that doesn't mean she can't get all dolled up and glamorous once in a while too!
@@DoeDeerWonderland true I had a midge doll I had to repaint myself, instead of doing the smokey eye look, i worked with her big eyes and made her look like a vintage shojo anime character, but she well is broken beyond repair, i find though the midges made for japan had a better look then the ones made for america. less derp more cute, but the facial expression midge has, it kind of reminds me of "this is fine" meme. like I'd imagine her in crowd of pannicking barbies running away from immiment doom and she's just sitting there, like "this is fine..."
She looks lovely! Face paint matters; I don't know why Mattel made her so goofy. Midge's face became one of P.J.'s faces. I know I've seen Midge's face on at least one other doll but I don't know which.

Midge looks so much better. I love the purple eye shadow. Thanks for the steaming tip. I have a Francie that has the long straight hair but it is a little wonky on one side, kind of bent. Do you think steaming would help? How would you do it?? Thx for your videos!!
Thanks! I'm sure it could help, just remember not to touch the hair with the steamer directly as to not risk burning it and it should definitely improve the situation!

@@DoeDeerWonderland did you carve the teeth into the lip ? How did you do them. The entire doll looks like it could have been the original.
I just painted them on! If you paint the teeth on first, then cover them up with the lip paint, it looks like they were always meant to be there! Not 100% on this as I don't collect them, but I think that's how the rare editions of Midge with teeth were done (?)

Oh my goodness I love Allen, he was a bigger dreamboat than Ken; Midge had great taste. You may not envy her looks, but she can get whatever man she wants.
