  • In this video I show you how to fix your flashing OBD1 check engine light (CEL) with absolutely no tools. This can be done without any fancy code reader with nothing more than a paperclip and access to the internet. This video will specifically cover code #32 and replacement of the manifold air pressure (MAP) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves on this 1995 GMC Sierra. The troubleshooting should be common for all 88-98 GMT 400 trucks (OBS Style).

    What do you do if the part you put the paper clip into doesn’t work right? I put the key( I have actual GM key for that port) and it flashes the 12 but then it dies and flashes nothing. How do I fix it?

    EVERYBODY I see online that does this their vehicle is a GM!!! I wonder if that makes any difference. Just wondering. Its a good video though!!! but really you can get some codes on 1995 vehicles just by turning the key to on 3 times.....on the 3rd time it starts blinking the codes.............what i dont know is if you get any additional codes with the paper clip.

    Saw this after doing the same thing replacing the EGR and AIC (didn't replace the map sensor ) because of high idle on 94' Yukon. Check engine light has been on for 15 years, lol. Did bring the idle down to 800 from 1100 after changing the sensors, but I get code 32 and 35, which are the sensors I replaced? and check engine light still comes on?

    • @truckandroll989
      @truckandroll989  Год назад

      Its possible you still have another issue. High idle could be a vacuum leak. Can you clear codes and see if they come back? Also cleaning your intake is always a good idea. I pulled my TBI and cleaned everything. Last i guess you could always try and replace MAP

      Sometimes the check engine light comes back on until you clear the codes. If you clear the codes and the check engine light comes back on,then you havent fixed the problem.

    My dad bought a 98 c3500 6.5 diesel with 230k(we bought it with 227k)on the dash and I was wondering what do the check engine lights on those trucks come on for?(low oil pressure, bad thermostat, etc)....cause since we bought it and brought it home a couple months ago the check engine light has been off all this time and the bulb for the check engine light works(it comes up when you turn the key on)can you tell me?

    • @truckandroll989
      @truckandroll989  2 года назад

      So yours is a 98 so it is obd2 (unless diesels are special) which means it has all the standard codes of new cars - its the same plug. 95’ was the last year for the style you see in this video. Its normal for the light to come on when the key is initially on for a second. But if it stays on it could be any number of things. Best to get the code read to see. If the light foes out after a few seconds you are ok! Thanks for watching

    How do u come up with 32? I’m confused on the counting

    • @matthewtarvin3675
      @matthewtarvin3675 Год назад +3

      It will flash a count of lights at you between the 1 and 2 flashes letting you know the beginning and end of codes. The first digit it flashed was 3, the second was 2. Combine the digits for a diagnostic code of 32.

      same ones. 88-95 1500 GMT 400's are OBD1. 96 through 98 are obd 2. use a low amp mini blade fuse it works perfect.

    • @truckandroll989
      @truckandroll989  2 года назад +3

      Eh I dont think it is doing any damage. The cost of a paperclip vs the reader and the expected # times you will do this makes the paperclip option a no brainer for me. I also wouldn’t be surprised if the reader is doing the same thing but displaying you with a code.
