      I hope you never need it. I'm considering a set for protest marches and other large public gatherings. I'm doing research now. I no longer have guns due to age and disabilities, but a safe vest that is easy to wear for myself and maybe my wife may make us at least feel a little safer. If someone is after me a vest won't ever be full proof.
      Here's to safety........it's sad I'm even considering a vest.

    I have a lvl4+ Rifle plates frome safelife. I love my vest, its saved my life twice. WHile doing armed security, I was shot 3x times with a 357 Mag, stopped all 3 rounds and lived. Second time was 223 round. The first time, I sent it back, got it repaired free. They did amazing work, 5/5.

    • @thepewplace1370
      @thepewplace1370 6 лет назад +16

      Be careful with Lvl anything "+" plates... there is no III+ and IV+ NIJ certification, the highest is standalone Lvl IV, which will stop everything up to 30-06 AP (true AP, not that soft steel green tip M855 everyone calls AP... black tip).
      Just out of curiousity, what threats do you expect to face that youre willing to trade the extra weight for the IV+? I only wear a Lvl II soft on duty and then Lvl IV plates on tac team... every pound you add is speed penalty, and not moving fast enough is likely to get you shot again, and again, and again, moreso than the chance your attacker is using something that hits harder than 30-06 M80

    • @thepewplace1370
      @thepewplace1370 6 лет назад +8

      Damn dude, youre more a man than I: I took one look at 3a and said no way. That stiffness really becomes an issue at 3a thickeness, not so much at level 2 (Im in an SEC state, so its stoopid hot and humid here too, luckily Im on graveyards).
      I actually find plate armor (standalone plate armor, specifically, if you have an IBA or similar turtle shell, youre gunna feel the suck) to be alot cooler.
      If you havent yet, check out the MaxxDri undervest for your soft armor: its about 3/8 inch thick of a rigid mesh to allow true airflow under the whole surface area of the vest. Doesnt stop the sweating, but makes it a hell of alot more bearable when youre hitting hour 13 of the shift

    • @thepewplace1370
      @thepewplace1370 6 лет назад +5

      Yeah dude the sweating is a real problem. I get bad irritation on my back and chest during the hottest parts of the summer unless I shave (and thats with wearing the maxxdri vest)... theres just no way around sweating when youre armored up in 100+ degree heat and 60%+ humidity.
      You can cross about a liter of fluid per hour in your gut, and you will sweat more than a liter per hour with exertion so make sure you preload water before each shift or you will come up short.

      @Lee Harvey Oswald You're ignorant if you believe he's bullshitting, want to know an interesting fact most don't know? Security officers die more often than police officers. Want to know why? There are only 600,000 police in the United States compared to 1,800,000 security personnel. Our public safety heavily relies on private security as much as public law enforcement. The only difference is when a security officer gets killed, unfortunately no one seems to cares. When a cop dies, a massive ceremony is held. It's pretty depressing actually. After all, we're all human beings at the end of the day. Just down the street from where I was about to get an armed security gig, one of the guards got shot and killed. At the same clinic I was interested in providing protection for. Doesn't bother me much though if people don't recognize my death to protect them. If I die, my family, friends, loved ones, and co workers would care. That's all I need.

      This is a year late, almost anything that adds a little bit of bulk, including this vest can impact your conceal carry draw, and depending your open carry draw.
      With open carry draw that would have to be something really bulky or like a suit in most cases. You could definitely work around the ccw draw though.
      Depending on how it fits on you it could impact draw and feel differently. I would believe that after some practice with drawing you could get used to it and easily draw a ccw.

    It'd be kinda cool to encase that broken lens filter in a 2part clear epoxy and make it into like a paper weight, maybe throw a couple empty cartridges into the encasement as well. It's super easy to make shit like that, i made a few really easily just watching a couple yt vids.
    idk, Food for thought.
    It'd make a cool video to see from you too.

    • @weaponsgradepotato
      @weaponsgradepotato 6 лет назад +1

      Jelle Van Huizen its level 3a, can stop a .44 mag. Also level 3 can only stop certain 5.56 NATO rounds.

    • @weaponsgradepotato

      If you mean 7.62x51 NATO then level III (3) will stop them, 6 of them. Level VI (4) can stop 5.56 and one 30-06 black tip just in case you get stuck in world war 2.

    The laws are dumb as hell. . .why would it be illegal for a convicted felon to wear body armor? Are they obliged to eat any and all lead slung their way? After serving your time are you still denied full access to your own personhood?

    I wear my Safelife IIIA+ in their outer carrier 12 hours a day... It is comfortable, but it rides up when you sit. After 5 months of almost daily use- When you draw your gun, it is very hard to bring your arms together at the shoulder to get a good grip on your weapon. That's the only gripe I have...

  • @flydriveride

    That bullet RESIDENT vest does look comfortable. Having worn 3a, 3+ & 4 armor, I was surprised when a young cop from Idaho was at the range telling us about his "bullet-proof" 3A armor. We, a few active army guys and vets, were getting in some range time. The "kid", a 23 year-old cop, bragged that his armor was "bullet-proof". Intending to correct this kid's potentially deadly misunderstanding, I made him a bet and pulled out $5k to get his attention. I bet the kid $5k that a standard m193 would punch his 3A vest while on a target stand. The kid eagerly took the bet. I handed him is own ammo and he loaded it into his own AR. Just before he pulled the round off, I said to him "you realize that I'm saving your life, right?". He takes the shot and we call the range cold. Upon inspection, he quickly grew quiet. I then asked him if he wanted to bet a M9 with 124gr ball against his 3A helmet.... The helmet also failed. Even though he lost, I gave him $1k to help replace his gear and told him to be more careful. I hope he got an upgrade.

      @lewishamos9402 6 лет назад +15

      dbpheds there's stupid laws prohibiting so much shit, we can't even own non lethal self defense weapons, I'm not sure the reasoning for banning the bullet proof vests but I'd assume the police state reasoning would be so terrorists can't have access to them (they banned airsoft with the reason they didn't want terrorists using them as training props.) I believe it's just because they kinda have a connection with guns and they are trying so hard to destroy gun culture here.
