5:24 "...people waiting to go straight often leave a gap to be 'polite'..." You don't leave a gap to be polite in accommodating people trying to turn left. You leave a gap because it's a bad idea to enter an intersection on a green light when traffic ahead is stalled and you can't be sure you will be able to be clear of the intersection when the light changes.
It's actually a legal requirement at intersections, but not at most driveways, to not enter the intersection until you can see your way clear of the intersection. The exception to driveways is those driveways that host emergency services. Not allowed to block those either.
Especially if a zone says do not block or has those angled white lines in the box with signs saying do not block. It's not polite, it's (in some places but not all) illegal to block intersections, entry/exits to businesses and to driveways.
3:55 If you don't know the difference between the gas pedal and the brake at any point, you should not have a license. There is no confusion if you know the difference between your left and your right. Plus when you press the gas and you feel acceleration, holding it isn't going to stop your vehicle. So it's not even a valid excuse at that extent.
What's crazy is people will defend them saying they need empathy. Driving is literally life and death and not only your life but the lives of others. If a person loses their cool to that point as a result of a minor scrape like that, they really shouldn't have a driver's license.
Watching this compilation is a rollercoaster of emotions and a strong reminder of the importance of safe driving. Let's all stay vigilant on the road to prevent accidents and ensure everyone's safety!
5:20 when traffic is backed up like that you’re not supposed to pull into the intersection because if the light changes before traffic moves forward you block traffic from the other direction. It is illegal to sit in an intersection, so they arent lingering behind to “be polite and leave space for cars to turn” they are just being logical drivers. Either way it is the responsibility of the person turning left to not turn unless it is safe to do so, and it is illegal to go straight from a turn only lane (but I cant even tell if it is turn only since there’s more lane straight ahead of it)
Yep, 100% on the left turner. And the car going straight was driving perfectly legally, it was not a right turn only lane. That is an eastbound lane on Duluth Hwy at Laurenceville Market Drive, which I will add also is a 45 MPH speed limit. You can measure the speed of the car if you go frame by frame to measure distances with positions you can see in the video, the car was going 58 ft in exactly 1 second(30 frames) as judged by the front of the car when it passes the cross walk line and gets to the white line on the side of the road 30 frames later, that distance is 58 feet according to google maps, which is 39.5 MPH meaning the car was also not speeding.
4:25 This video is actually a perfect example of why witness testimony can be so unreliable. Even the cammer who submitted the video thinks the car swerves back in front of the truck when the video clearly shows the car is stationary when the truck, without any sign of braking, rear ends them.
That car is very clearly not stationary and did the stupid move of not making up their mind thats why the truck hit the corner and not the dead center. Should've committed to the turn and just turned around if it wasn't the right one.
I mean I’d be pissed too, but I’m also not the type of person to make someone who is already apologizing feel even worst or more stupid. If I was in the situation I prolly would be keeping that stuff to myself too, unless he came at me sideways.
10:00 25 Noelle Diane - so the driving lessons and the prior warnings from family, friends, PSA's, posters and potentially all those youtube videos you may have viewed etc all warning you about speed go through one ear and straight out the other and it takes you causing an accident to understand
12:53 Good driving to avoid that. Amazing how many idiot drivers forget where the brake is once they get hit, so they continue to damage more vehicles when they roll forward etc.
2:22 Liability??? Are you serious? Between a moron who changes several lanes at once, without checking his mirror, probably to go in the left lane and a guy who was in his lane and had right of way? Maybe he changed lanes also but you can't prove that
I thought the same thing but if you watch his speed, he stayed between 34-36 the whole time. He never sped up. I think it looked like that because the cars in front were slowing down which made the space get smaller than it should have been.
4:22 and this is why you wait till someone is fully out of the lane before passing. By the looks of it the car never "went back into the lane" they just never fully exited the lane. Impatience gets you no where alot of the time.
Agreed. And also there was no "middle lane" to turn into, which is why the car never fully exited the lane as it appears that they were slowing down to make a left turn when they were rear ended by the truck. This is 100% on the truck driver despite the wording trying to blame the victim on this clip.
Hopefully, they took down the cruisers designation and reported them to the department. I wonder if they could bring a civil suit to the PD for inaction on this?
#6 was the camers fault. You can hear it in the video that his blind spot warning chimed to alert him to the car being there, but he ignored it. #14 the drivers at the intersection aren't leaving a gap to "be polite". It's the law to NOT BLOCK THE INTERSECTION. You can get a ticket for being in the middle of the intersection blocking it when the lights change. Please learn the laws of driving. #21 I blame that speeding car that got in front of the camer blocking him from seeing the stopped traffic and then suddenly cut over at the last second putting the camer into a no-win situation. I'm glad he didn't get into trouble for that because there was nothing he could do thanks to that other car blocking him from seeing the trouble up ahead in enough time to react.
I really don't understand people who are so afraid to miss their turn that they're willing to do stupid shit and endanger everyone around them. Miss the turn and turn around or wait for gps to re-route, it's not worth your life. My bf is a back seat driver and he's tried to tell me to due a U turn across 5 lanes of traffic rather than turn around in a parking lot like a sane person, I ignored him of course.
They installed a new roundabout in the town north of us, which I drive in every week for shopping. The only time I had a problem with someone not maintaining their lane thus far was when I was following an out of state dummy through it.
Caused all this? As soon as the truck got over I would’ve kept going, not fucking full stop on the highway. While yes, the red truck was a fuck head, the person recording ‘caused his own accident.
6:38 Sure the van driver's fault ... but image the camer, accelerating only as fast as a masonry heater anyways, would have give him a chance to merge instead of just honking. Yes, the other one might be a dickhead, but the camer only got aditional work/trouble out of it, insisting on his right of way. Be kind to each other.
Hope the cammer got a ticket too! He could easily avoid this. What a dickhead or just not paying attention at all cause the other car has its blinker on for a long time and this should have ringed at least ONE bell...

1:20 I would honestly love to hear the explanation from your insurance as to why you're not at fault. Especially if you were that close to your turn. 2:50 What a complete mess that was lmao.
If someone hits you from the rear its almost always there fault cause they have the ability to stop their vehicle from hitting you, there is nothing you can do to stop them from hitting you unless you see it ahead of time or you cut them off when there is no space or time to stop
@@itzmalakai183 If you watch at the point of impact, she was hit more from the side than she was behind (which explains why the damage was at the rear wheel & not the back end/bumper). You can actually see a similar accident in terms of where both vehicles hit at 7:20 (even if the context of the accident is different). Having just gone through a similar situation of someone veering into my lane (with side contact), insurance companies put quite a bit of value to who had established the lane where the accident happened & how long they had been in the lane. It might not be a clear 100% fault situation but I'd be SHOCKED if she didn't receive large chunk of the liability. Especially since roadwork trucks like that tend to have a little more of a right of way (due to their purpose) than a normal vehicle that stops in the middle of the road. Then again, it’s Canada, so who knows how different their laws are from the US in these situations.
I think her logic was that the service truck was parked there. In that case, she had to go around the parked vehicle to make her turn. She made a quick decision (maybe could've waited a beat) but he also punched it without looking...

5:26 they're not "leaving a gap to be polite". They are leaving a gap because it is illegal to cross an intersection unless you can proceed across the entire intersection. If you would otherwise stop IN the intersection, you must stop BEFORE the intersection and not proceed until there is room for you on the other side. I've been the idiot before, and almost blocked an ambulance coming the other way. Had to drive on the median to get out of the way. Less importantly, if the light changes while you're blocking the intersection, you're gonna piss off a bunch of people who can't get by.

5:24 "...people waiting to go straight often leave a gap to be 'polite'..."
You don't leave a gap to be polite in accommodating people trying to turn left. You leave a gap because it's a bad idea to enter an intersection on a green light when traffic ahead is stalled and you can't be sure you will be able to be clear of the intersection when the light changes.
I was coming to look for this comment. Yes if traffic is backed up you should be waiting at the white line until you can go all the way across.
NEW DRINKING GAME: take a shot every time that goddamn Milwaukee roundabout shows up in a video lmaoooo
Best advice my dad gave me about driving: treat all drivers as if they are blind and crazy.

That was your first thought to that minor accident? 🤣
Considering they had all the time in the world to avoid it, I don't think the cammer is that bright.
bless the people that pull over to help/make sure everyone is okay
3:55
If you don't know the difference between the gas pedal and the brake at any point, you should not have a license.
5:19 this is why sitting and waiting for the light is never the wrong choice.
Not blocking an intersection isn’t being nice, it’s the law 😂

4:22 and this is why you wait till someone is fully out of the lane before passing. By the looks of it the car never "went back into the lane" they just never fully exited the lane. Impatience gets you no where alot of the time.
Agreed. And also there was no "middle lane" to turn into, which is why the car never fully exited the lane as it appears that they were slowing down to make a left turn when they were rear ended by the truck.
