  • In this video, I bring you previously unseen footage of the 2021 Fagradalsfjall volcanic eruption in Iceland. We were lucky enough to visit the site at the very end of the volcano's activity and captured some breath-taking footage of the fiery lava flows and explosive eruptions.
The Fagradalsfjall volcano started erupting on March 19, 2021, and continued to do so for the next six months. It is located on the Reykjanes Peninsula, about 30 kilometres southwest of Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.
During the first few weeks of the eruption, lava flowed from multiple fissures and created a spectacular show for onlookers. As the weeks went on, the eruption slowed down, but the lava continued to flow and reshape the landscape.
In this video, we take you on a journey to witness the raw power of nature as we walk through the lava fields, climb to the top of the volcano, and capture stunning aerial shots of the eruption from a drone. You'll see the vivid colours of the molten lava, the steam and smoke rising from the vents, and the sheer magnitude of the eruption as it transformed the surrounding area.
We hope you enjoy this unique and rare footage of the Fagradalsfjall volcanic eruption and that it inspires you to appreciate the beauty and unpredictability of our natural world.
Overall, visiting the Fagradalsfjall eruption was an unforgettable experience that we're thrilled to share with you. This eruption was a rare and remarkable natural phenomenon that lasted for several months, attracting visitors from all around the world to witness the beauty and power of nature first-hand.
This is part 1 of 2 videos showing our visits to Fagradalsfjall. It shows our initial visit to the eruption site. At this time, the volcano had been inactive for about a week. Despite the lack of activity, it was still incredible to visit the scene and witness just how radically the lava field had transformed the landscape in a relatively short space of time. Make sure you watch until the end to see the incredible sights we captured on one of the volcanoes final nights of activity.
We were, understandably, disappointed to not see the volcano in action on our first visit. As our trip to Iceland was based on a circumnavigation of Iceland's Ring Road, we thought our chances of seeing the volcano erupting were slim. However, as the volcano came back to life, for what would be its swan song, we cancelled the remainder of our itinerary in southern Iceland to head straight to Fagradalsfjall. We're so glad we did!
