I actually seen to remember from the nissan website back in 2002, the secondary intake actually starts to open around 3,000 rpm. Issues I've had with mine, purchased at 123,000 miles. Steering rack internal leak, replaced with used rack from local salvage yard, 75$ Charcoal canister 270$ (Used car for delivery driving for 70k miles) Evap purge valve 25$ cheap ebay, otherwise 75$ or more Throttle pedal. 60-120$ or more Throttle body - THIS was my number one starting, and running issue! Remanufactured, 65$ on ebay Already have aftermarket header Installed heat shield for alternator Butterfly screws thread locked New brake calipers, ac lines, belt tensioner and pulley, exhaust manifold gasket, and radiator. Most everything was "normal" maintenance. 😊
Have my spec V for about 5 years. Gone thru 2 alternators because I have headers and since it’s so close to the alternator, the heat damages it and wears out faster. Also my cam shaft sensor went out on my way to Burlington,VT during the eclipse
Ed you forgot to mention the rust it is a rocker problem I've seen them driving around and the rockers are just rotted out or gone altogether . So I checked mine and it is just starting in little spots makes me sick to sand on factory clear coating and paint I'm not a body man . As you can probably tell by now it bothers me rust is the enemy.
Mine got misfire due to the head not being torqued correctly. The bolts are for 1 use only and the mechanic used them again, those bolts are made to be stretched so if you don't change them are going to leak coolant or oil to the cylinder.
Haha, I called it. That’s what I get for commenting before watching. Great video though. Wish I knew this way back when. Ended up selling it once I traced the issue to the harness.
Nice video. Very helpful. I just through a turbo and downpipe in my 04 sentra spec V. Looks similar to your engine set up. Even the way your intake sits. I have a Garrett turbo 3576. What kind of turbo do you have? And what is your whp?
Is a 2007 SER QR25DE engine swappable into the original 02 Spec V? I heard that it is possible but that you need a Nisformance Crank and cam sensor and if that isn’t possible would swapping Cams Pistons Rods and maybe a crank into a first gen QR25 from a 07 refreshed QR work?
Okay not a expert in that area but from my understanding the swap requires inverters for the cam and crank sensors and the engine mount needs to be changed. Caleb I think is selling the mounts. Also (Ross) @rillproblems on YT is doing that swap on one one of his b15s I am sure he will eventually have some videos on it. youtube.com/@RillProblems?si=JMT2CohTHOc06FTf
I know it is less common on the 05/06 to have that issue, but I have heard of a few cases over the years. I remember years ago hearing that they change the screws itself. Nothing else changed. But I have never researched the accuracy of that..
@@seancurl4102 it wouldn’t hurt to put some locktite on them. They lasted 17 years so part of me feels like it’s lasted this long what’s the chances of it becoming a issue.
@@red_rabbit_specv when I'm talking about cars, I'm not talking about that trash, real mechanics have a connection with real engines that is operated by gas, the vibration and rhythm of the engine is music to our ears, the steering sends signal through our hands on that tells us a lot about the health of the car, is symbiotic relationship, you can never feel that way about a tesla.

Thank you this was really useful!
Thanks for the pointers!
Just got one of these gonna be following and thanks for the advice!
Good video man, keep them coming.
Ed, header(S)?!?!?! Seriously?!??! I know you have a Mustang, but this is your SENTRA.....LOL...LOL
love Sentra
What about a completely cooked wiring harness? My experience with my first budget car…was not a budget car🤕

@@bunkyjr1393 it’s just a cheap rev9 .63ar turbo. Car hasn’t been on a dyno but at 10psi should be about 300hp with the tune.
Hello I can't get no spark to my spark plugs
Did you ever fix it?
Great Video Ed! 💪

Ive heard certain 05 and 06 models have revised butterfly screws installed from the factory, is this true?

@@red_rabbit_specv Hmm ok cause I have an 06 so I think I'll check the screws to be safe
