  • Once you get past the install, it's pure sound clips of this beast!
    Watch and listen as we showcase the powerful sound of the VW Atlas SE VR6 with a Luft-Technik Intake and ECS Resonator Delete installed. The resonator delete, also known as the "Wookie Pipe," eliminates the muffler that muffles the sound of the VR6 engine, allowing it to roar to life. Learn more about the unique engineering of the VR6 engine and the benefits of a resonator delete at the link below.

    What does the resonator delete even do?
    The resonator is a heavy muffler that hides the exotic VR6 sound! The VW VR6 engine has had a cult following since it came out back in the late 90’s.
    When it came out, it was an engineering marvel, because it managed to squeeze 6 cylinders underneath one cylinder head and valve cover, vs 2, which made it cheaper to make and service plus small enough to fit inside the engine bay of smaller cars like the Golf/GTI.

    have both of these from ECS for two years now. Love both of them, except the cheese grade exhaust clamps that come with the wookie pipe - 18 months in and had to replace both clamps as the were rusted straight through.

      Honestly I thought they sucked when I installed them. I have to double check what they look like lately. Do you have one’s you like?

      @@BestHombre Someone just posted on the Facebook Atlas Aftermarket group they had to replace theirs after two years of VA driving...they went with the VW factory ones. Reading this post here, I think I might skip the ECS supplied ones (I've got it in a box waiting for free time) and get the VW ones from the dealer just to not have to deal with this in the coming years.

    Any MPG gain from the res delete? Or is the intake really the difference maker for MPG

    Does removing the muffler have any impact on emissions? For those who live in an emission testing state

    • @BestHombre
      @BestHombre  8 месяцев назад

      None that I know of, the only emissions related exhaust part is the catalytic converters and their correlating o2 sensors. I’m in NJ they do emissions by obd port.
      It would also pass the smell test too because the resonators only job is to reduce sound resonance.

    Does it cause any warning lights to turn on after install?

    • @BestHombre
      @BestHombre  Год назад +2

      Nope, no issues whatsoever. The pipe is downstream of any sensors, so wouldn’t affect anything emissions.

  • @Chyapoppyseed

    Would this affect factory warranty in any way?

    • @BestHombre
      @BestHombre  Год назад

      Only for the resonator itself.
      Also, idk where that other guy is quoting but there are a bunch of Audi/vw techs that have commented on this.
      In summary, if the modification caused the failure then the failure wouldn’t be covered.
      Unless your rear muffler gets clogged, (then i would just delete the muffler anyway 😉) the resonator doesn’t really interact with anything else.
      So I don’t think they could say that it caused your speaker to fail (for example) and deny a warranty claim for your speaker, ya know.

    How’s the drone at highway cruising speeds? My wife wants more sound out of hers, but I don’t want it to drone like my res deleted 2014 S5 does 😂

    • @BestHombre
      @BestHombre  Год назад +1

      Honestly, if you keep off the throttle it’s almost as quiet as stock. In eco mode with light throttle you won’t even tell a difference. In sport with full throttle with manual shifts is when you can get the “DSG” style farts lol
      This comes up a lot, so I’m planning on doing a pov style driving video in all of the modes. I’ll tag you when I do.

    • @BestHombre

      Nope, it’s very quiet at highway speeds. Honestly there’s more wind noise than drone at speed.
