I think the CV-75 worked nicely on the D-Moll. Maybe because the amp is a little on the darker side (at least mine is). The Swamp Thang was surprisingly good and the veteran sounded surprisingly bright.
But I'm going to be boring and say the Cemesalestion V30 still rules above all three of these

After your first video on guitar speakers I checked out the WGS Reaper and found their official IRs by Lancaster Audio. The Reaper IRs are probably the best I've ever played and I use them for everything, even clean and crunch stuff, not just metal. But I have to say, I'm really liking the Swamp Thang, the somehwat darker sound might serve me well too. Decisions, decisions...

i have to admit i still prefer the v30 as a "single" speaker. But the three combinations where you mix them are "richer" . Next time i suggest you to try out the creamback (both std and NEO versions), they are great sounding speakers to my ears.

@@KohleAudioKult I've been totally a victim to the influence, and bought the Swamp Thang IRs offerred by Eminence, which to no surprise are super thin (not sure why I hoped for oomph from a "country legend" engineer), and don't offer anything of the oversized Mesa cab's low end. I really hope your IR pack (which you really must bring out, as I really need you to take my money) will include the Swamp Thang and the ST+V30 blend you showed here, as they are pretty much the best cab sound I've heard so far (as far as youtube can deliver the sound quality) .

    17:07 CV-75 17:31 +V30

    19:23 WGV Veteran
    18:11 Swamp Thang 18:35 +V30
    18:47 CV-75 19:11 +V30
    ***GENERAL NOTES****
    - All speakers are 8 ohms. 16 ohm speakers might sound a bit more scooped and fizzy.
    - And.. Damn man! No Texas Heats!
****NOTES ON SOUND (Only in the mix)****
*S10 phone speaker:* really liking the Swamp Thangs or Swamp Thang/V30 MIX! The Swamp Thangs by themselves sound great. No harshness. No need to Do EQ dips in the high mids to remove snarlies.
*2014 Acura RDX with smiley face EQ and has a sub, but the sub isn't on full blast:*
Mesa V30 or CV-75 win. Swamp thing isn't clear enough up top, but if your tones are too trebley, the Swamp Thang could be your speaker. In the mix of Swamp Thang and V30, at least on this system, it would have been nicer to have the V30 louder and the Swamp Thang mixed underneath to fill out some of the V30 scoop... Or EQ the Swamp Thangs a bit on their own. There is something in the mids though that you can't get with the V30. I'm starting to think I need Swamp Thangs. Maybe in my THD 2x12 for testing and maybe in my Mesa cab later in an X-pattern. If I had An Emperor 6x12 cab, I'd probably put the Swamps as the two middle speakers and V30's for the remaining 4. Mic'ing live could be a pain though, trying to duplicate the phase relationship at every gig. Would probably sound sweet though.
Upon more listening, the CV-75 and V30 mix sound the best. The Swamp thing overpowers the V30 too much, at least in this demo, but the CV-75 works very well with the V30, adding a little extra something to the V30 sound without overdoing it. Now I need Swamp Thangs and CV-75's 😂. I wonder what those two would sound like together..
*Oontz Angle 3 Ultra Bluetooth speaker:*
Swamp Thang wins, closely followed by the V30 or CV-75. The WGS isn't bad here either. It might poke out in a mix more... I'm starting to get confused lol.
All of this can depend on placement of the speaker.
Swamp Thang and V30 mixed sound pretty good too, just adding a little bit of the Mesa's top end. The Mesa needs to be just a tiny bit louder.
The CV-75 and Mesa mix sounds pretty good too.
I'd go with the Swamp Thang or St miclxed with V30.
    *2012 CRV with upgraded package:*
Alone, the V30 or Swamp Thang win. They're just different. The Swamp has more girth and has smoother highs. The Swamp Thang mixed with the V30 sounds like the way to go, but the V30 and CV-75 are pretty cool if you need more edge. The balance of either mixed pairwould just depend in the mix. WGS and CV-75 lose out on their own.
I migh check in some headphones and another car, but I'm leaning towards V30 and Swamp Thangs, with the CV-75 being a wild card. The V30 sounds pretty good everywhere, which is probably why it's so popular, but sometimes it's a little rarry sounding gere and there. The Swamp Thangs give and extra mod to low mid girth, if the V30 sounds too scooped, and the CV-75 has some high mod presence, but lower than where the v30's spike is.. And perhaps slightly less pinchy.
Will post more when listening on different speakers/headphones.

Mesa V30 + CV75 is a winner. Just kind of balances out the harshness in the upper mids of the V30. With all other speakers or combinations of them I felt like I needed to notch out some 3k. V30 + Swamp Thang did a similar thing but muddied up the lows and low mids quite a bit, making the sound feel farther away and less aggressive.

I have to say that I'm not the biggest fan of the V-30. I often like the Creamback even more. And here I like the Eminence CV-75 the most. Maybe those speakers with the slightly lower mid-focus remind me of the 90s death and thrash sound, which wasn't as refined as today's.

      @7REDDRACO7 3 года назад

some of the highs to me through a sm75 mic sounded like ice cream cones or ice cicles instead of crushed ice or ice cream, mainly because of the mic and the placement required as well as monitor high end speaker quality. although in a room or on stage they sound great even the highs , although when pushed above usable gain and drives or highly stacked sounds they wash with aggressive playing and the cone gets ice picky and washes out, although with a 6 string with mild low and highs can get great mid def. and brightness because those ice pik locations help pull up the mids even when the highs are cut. although it has great highs for squelch and harmonics and solos it helps the highs stay thick and defined as well, so this was a very purpose hybrid type speaker originally a frankenstien tuned for live stage performance with volume demanding muddy amp setting players, and british sounds, the real heavy metal movement ordained by god, not the imposter hair band stuff that caught attention in place of the talk , it was about popularity by word of mouth and the fans were then intentionally mis directed not by the government, but the STATE and rich people gay fallen angel media to hair band 'metal' that was not very metal at all. and lipstick wearing. question : Did metallica wear lipstick? no , because they were part of the real 'metal' that everyone started an uproar over, as the creator themself loves real METAL. not the imposter copycat misleading artists and big money that stepped in and took it from us, now we have it, as it was not allowed on the mainstream radio before and was resisted. Like the tenacious D song states "they tried to destroy the metal". i still love to wear lipstick and kissing although i love my metal to be metal, not twink freelove mockery. Although the pushers of this temporarily stole metal's success, it was short lived, for we the people and god with us, the creator of the universe is with us, and we have the victory and now its evident since the late 90's. real metal has always been in heaven and is and always shall be. forever.

The CV 75 sounds the "Toughest" of them all, that really dense mid range really accentuates chugs and fills the guitar out in the mix. The best blend was the Swamp Thing and the V30, all that thicc low end from the Swamp Thing with that upper mid bite of the V30 gives the guitar a really full sound with out being too woofy or harsh. Would love to see you expeiment with the system that Jerry Cantrell had on Dirt, a Rockman Pocket amp for the highs, a Bogner Estacy for the Mids, and a Bogner Fish Preamp for the lows.

    with the d-moll: V30
personal favourite: v30 for "old school" 80s kinda stuff, K100 for more modern metal sounds.

i think every one of these videos illustrates a great point. what can you ADD to a V30 to shape your tone. not one of them sounds "right" on their own, but using them to blend makes a unique, and generally good tone every time. V30 is salt and pepper. it's in all food. add other seasonings to it to make things truly interesting.

Love this video! In my experience, Eminence Governors are the best for modern hi gain: tight-big lows, brutal mids, and tames the fizzy treble from hi gain amps. Sorry for my english, cheers from Argentina!

I said it before over when you were on URM, but I'd really like to hear some A/B comparison between 8 & 16 ohm speakers. I have always thought that 16 ohm was the way to go, but it would be nice to know if there is a difference.

    • @m_akos567
      @m_akos567 3 года назад +1

@@davidfuller581 on the other hand 16 ohm taps on the output transformer (assuming we talk about a tube amp) have higher inter-winding capacitance. But a general rule of thumb we do not leave dead, unused windings on the OT, so the highest available tap is preferable.

CV75... Maybe because I have the 16 ohm version it's a bit closer to the V30, but mine is definitely not that dark. The Warehouse has that annoying hissy fizz beam but moreso than the V30, so... pass.

But this has inspired me to get at least 2 for my Mesa Cab. I use the Mesa Stiletto amp and its extremely concentrated in the high mids and presence.
