Diamonds are not rare. The available retail quantity available may be low, but that is by design. De Beer have so many diamonds that they could flood the market and make them practically worthless. It's a cartel with a Monopoly on the industry.

This video unfortunately is entirely inaccurate; diamond were not cut in ancient times, they resembled brown rocks nothing remarkable! Also proposing with a diamond was not culturally significant until the late 1800's early 1900s. Google the company Debeers! Video is wrong across the board!
