The little Lalique ring is gorgeous. So delicate and in such good condition. I bet they’d sold it somewhere before they’d even got home. I hope the current owner enjoys the piece for what it is. Incidentally, the lady in the red top in the background looked so interested, at one point, I thought she’d pull up a seat at the table 😂
The yellow Brazilian diamond ring is breathtaking, very simple and definitely something I’d enjoy wearing.

Sometimes the families have been told ALL the stories the previous owner had been told or had LIVED thru. Other times they know next to nothing. I wish the young lady’s gramma had shared any of her stories she had because that treasure chest was so cool! The stories are so much fun. I think I need to record/document my jewelry so my kids and grands know what the stories are and that it’s ok if they want the money instead of keeping things in a box.

I love that you also aim to document your Jewelry and I’m in the process of making archival journals of my own collection.
My pieces are those that hold special meaning, having inherited them from my elders whom at times cannot relay the origin of these. I always felt it was a shame I could not know the stories of these heirlooms. Was it an anniversary present? Or part of a dowry?
And as a handmade Jewelry artist, I have many accessories that I’ve designed that I would love to include my thought processes of how it was made and pictures of myself wearing it.
Although the Jewelry archival journals will take immense work, probably a lifetime’s, I think it will be a good legacy to leave behind. To future descendants or bequeathed to individuals who I know will appreciate my treasures when I am gone. ⭐️

Back when some of these figures would make for a significant contribution to a house deposit. Now a days, a diamond ring gets you a pint of milk off the reduced isle 👀

I just wish they would wipe the fingerprints off the stones before they hold them up to the camera. It drives me mad.

Seems that jade is overrated mainly due to the present demands by the chinese market. ..yet those gorgeous diamonds are underrated by comparison.
It would have been interesting to see other contents of the collection in the vanity compendium. .that was a stunning and interesting collection.

Actually what you state is quite näive. Fine quality Jade pieces from early 1900s era come from Burma, and it's all been mined by now. The color and jelly like sheen can be noted even by geologists and gemologists as quite rare and of fine quality. The current Chinese jade market has no relevance to the value of the older pieces as they are valued on their own provenance.

Meanwhile American appraisal shows: Oh wow a one of a kind diamond ring that belonged to a Byzantine emperor , witnessed the fall of Alexandria, and then belonged to a Sultan..... Best I can do is 5 dollars and a punch in the face 😊
