    I would advice you to smell one time before swirling the glass to get a first impression : it's called "premier nez". If you swirl it right on, it may happen that you miss some aroma because they get covered by other volatile molecules. What you have on the nose after swirling is called "second nez".

      Smelling the aroma is preparing your stomach.
      I don't know if wine drinkers knows it or it's just their "s.o.p"😁
      Ah, it's best if it will in your mouth for atleast 5 seconds if you want really to "taste" without the "chewing effect".
      Just let it play with your tongue.
      Why chew?😂

      +RamboJRV Actually you are right: it allows more molecules to get from a liquide to a gaz state and then be transported from your mouth to your nose = retro-olfaction.

      Hm, actually no. Ethanol tends to be a vasodialator, so it would increase bloodflow to and swelling in the region of your nose. That nasal congestion would tend to make your sense of smell much worse.

      In, my not-so-amateur opinion... Hell yeah. That, necklace would take me inside of 2 hours to make probably less & before anyone gives me a condescending reply?!? I've stayed up until close to 10:00a on just ONE necklace

    Excelent. What truly helped me understand wine, was actually tasting the juice of the grapes before fermentation. That opened my mind.

    I love smelling the wine a few times before I take my first sip. It’s just amazes me how good some wines smell and how that allows me to enjoy the taste of it.

    I think I have enough years of drinking wine to learn anything new from her, but she did make a really good presentation. The style of her speech really appeals to non English speaking audience, really crispy and clear. Don’t be bothered by the nonsense comments; congrats to a really good video presentation and thanks.

    To know abt the alcohol,after twirling it as you did at the beginning, just watch over the Edges of the glass.. You will see a transparent trace that fades little by little...as long as this trace takes time to leave it means that the alcohol level is higher.

    We recently opened a bottle of red wine "2004". After poring a few glasses we noticed the bottle itself inside was tainted red with a thin layer. I only took one sip and didn't like it. But others drank it. Did this wine go bad?

    I have a rather odd question...
    How about _staining?_ That is placing a drop of wine on a white cloth and then wiping it or patting it dry with another cloth. Would that say anything distinctive about a wine?

    I still have not remotely gotten down the art of picking out all of the different fruit flavors that are present, but this video taught me a lot in a very short amount of time, and I appreciate it. -Renegade Nic
    Side note: It was cool that you explained tannin when I had a very strong tannin wine and I immediately realized that dry feeling you were talking about.
