It’s a great time to get started for sure! Which armies are you looking at grabbing?

Thank you for the video. I recently started to pick up interest in the game after playing the Total War games, and I'm quite sure I will pick the Chaos Warriors or the Greenskins, but I will wait for your video on the future starter set to make my final decision. Thank you for the videos!

You’re more than welcome and it’s really cool that Total War got you interested in playing the game. Both of your options are great, with really nice model ranges. AoS sculpts are some of the best GW makes. With it being Skaven v Stormcast in the launch box and starter sets - if you aren’t interested in either of those, I’d certainly be trying to decide between the two you like now and getting started ahead of the release with the modelling/painting side of things.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a lot more popular in your area when this releases in the summer. I’m sure there will be a fair number, like myself, jumping in.

@@TheCommandPhase I love a lot of the models (maybe a hot take but I think AoS has cooler models then 40K [well some of em at least]). So I really wanna dive right into it

@TheBugB I agree with you 100%, the majority of AoS models are incredible. GW have far more creative license for them compared to 40K and it really shows. I’d argue they should get higher in the model of the year awards, but that’s mainly showing how much more popular 40K is. I can certainly see AoS getting a big boost in the summer when it comes out.

Well i guess its a bad time to start aos now :( i was about to start with aos ossiarch bonespear but as you said that the starter boxes will change from vanguard to spearhead, i guess its better to wait a couple of months until the new boxes are released... sad, i was about to order all my stuff...
Same, i am concerned about the rule changes, battleshock being removed, but ossiarch bonespears had the bonus of being resistent to battleshock, so i hope they give this army another good bonus... correct me if im wrong on anything, i just started to inform myself on this army and aos, so i might be wrong on some points.... all after all, with this aos revamp now, i start to think about starting w40k now, as aos seems to be "under construction"... or else wait some 4-5 months before being able to start aos :(

Honestly I see this as a perfect time to get started. The new edition I don’t imagine will be too far away (sometime in June is my guess) so it gives you enough time to get the models built and painted up ready.
In terms of the box changes, it looks like they’ll just be rebranding the current vanguard boxes to spearhead as they’ve written up the rules for each to play that format already to start at launch. While later on when your battletome gets released in the edition (sometime in the 3 year cycle) you may find a new spearhead box gets released then, it’s certainly not guaranteed.
As for the rules, I’d imagine after the AoS reveal show and weekend event at Warhammer World coming up I think we’ll start seeing what the index rules will be for each army ahead of launch. While I’m always for picking an army on the looks/models as rules can always change, if you wanted to wait and see what the index looks like before jumping in that’s totally understandable. I certainly don’t imagine their theme would change dramatically.
Hopefully that is of some help, but if you love the look of those models and wanted to play them I’d still jump in rather than wait to be ready for when the new edition drops 🙂

@@TheCommandPhase yeah i informed myself a bit more, the vanguard boc will only be renamed to spearhead and the ossiarch vox was spearhead anyway. But the new spearhead system will be a new gameplay mode as i understood with other rules for this gameplay mode, with cards etc
The only big downside i still have is that battleshock gets removed and ossiarch were resistent to battleshock, which i saw as a big + ... but i dont know how important this was... all i could find now is that ossiarch will probably have more CP and/or different CP.
But tbh i dont know really what this is "commander points".. i played a bit of warhammer some 16 years+ ago and back then i only remember that units if they lost to many fighters or didnt pass some checks would flee, and in my head, i think this is the battleshock... but nowadays this can be something completely different
So yeah im happy that the box and stuff seems to stay the same but to enter again into this world just at the moment when everything is at the point of getting changed is just some kind of barrier to me.. i wish i would have rediscovered this hobby some months later , after these changes, so i wouldnt know about this and wouldnt stress about it in my head 😂

@orkman198 so in regards to Command Points. These are a currency you generate each turn to be able to spend on certain abilities in the game, to either buff a unit to be stronger or weaker in some way in different phases in the game. So the more you have, the more you’re able to do this which could well come in very handy!
So you don’t have the same flee mechanic in the game anymore so I wouldn’t worry too much about that. It’s more a debuff to your units these days (at least in 40K) - there are articles on the Warhammer community website explaining different rules so far to get your teeth into.
To be fair though, you could quite easily just model and paint models for your force remaining oblivious to what’s changing until release and then you’ll have the free index rules for that army ready to go and jump into with everyone else.

I just realised, will my StD vanguard contents be changed for Spearhead or will just be the branding on the box. 🤔

    • @TheCommandPhase
      @TheCommandPhase  5 месяцев назад +1

I'm not 100% sure, but from the looks of the Spearhead image that GW provided shows the same box so could well be a rebrand at launch and maybe the add another variant when the battletome drops later down the line just like for 40k.

@@TheCommandPhase yeah, I just did a little research and it looks like a rebrand. Oh well, I will just go with it and see what happens haha. Great overview video by the way! I am keen and looking forward to dipping my toe in.
