    Hi Mike, I see you are rebuilding a Defender from Malawi. I live in Malawi and I am currently doing a 1995 disco 1 v8i. I see loads of good deals on defender restoration projects around the 1500-2000 quid mark. This place is a Land Rover enthusiasts heaven!

    Hi Mike, been missing in action on the email front - just very busy with work atm. Anyhoo, my gutter level mind was in full swing with innuendos with the mention of shafts, tool, lubrication and 'poke it inside here'. I'll grow up one of these days. Interesting stuff though, haven't even gone near my steering box as yet but good to know all the same. Have a good weekend.

      @@BritannicaRestorationsI was doing it from below the car and I have maybe one tip to share. I have placed 5 tiny magnets on the washer and I touched them each by one with screwdriver and the washer came out. I had to make my own tool to take that lever from the shaft...

    Hi Mike, greetings from South Africa. I rebuilt a box years ago, left it untouched for va year and installed it then. Bad leakage/pissing of fluid. Next day leaking, but less. Day after no leakage. This box is still fine with me after years. Don't give up too early. Greetings from Wilfried

    Another great video Mike. I HAVE to get in to my leaking steering box. You’ve shown me the way.
    Oh, By the Way. Do I really NEED to buy a specialized puller to get it off?

    I had an Adwest 4 bolt steering box which I tried to replace the output shaft seal insitu, outside, underneath the 110 on the gravel drive in middle of winter, no fun, with lots of leaks, much easier when on the bench as you have shown us here and in previous videos.. Apparently, it can be done insitu, would be better prepared next time but really don't think I'll try that again.

    Hello Mike, I bought same kit for prufinf thé botom of steering box, and one told me that the blue seal is not suitable, it is a seal for a cylinder, no lips with spring. What do you think about that ?

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  Год назад +1

      The blue seal is a high pressure seal not needing a spring - there are sealing edges on the inside for the shaft and on the outside to seal against the walls - the high pressure (1000 psi +) splays the seal outwards

    does this plastic "thing" have the same tight fit as your brake caliber tool? So the seal never discover it went out of the box , so to speak.
