Oh perfect! It was me who asked that question on the server! Thanks for taking the time to make a video!
Thanks for giving me some inspiration :)
Haha! To the Abyss with the Litmus Test, I want the Owlbear Test! The only test I trust from now on.
I'm shocked you don't have a bigger channel. I always enjoy your content and your delivery so much.
Maybe if I put out more regular content? I had a pretty good trend goin' one upon a time!
Love the channel. Keep pumping out the vids!
NICE MEDAL! I like that you're talking about Shadowdark; your ideas on converting are good. Thanks man.
Great recommendations! We just finished Savage Kings with DCC.
I'm planning on attempting Moon-Slaves of the Cannibal Kingdom with shadowdark. Have you found a overall conversion pattern you follow? Ive been thinking something like just keeping the stats in the module but reducing AC, DC, and Incoming damage to players by 1-2 depending on how high it is.
No conversion pattern that I've seen, but I see the question asked a good bit over in the Arcane Library discord server. Highly recommend it!
I looked around there as well using the search and didn't see anything specific as a formula. I'll have to dig deeper. Thanks!
Totally agree that Spellburn (and some other aspects of DCC magic) can get unfun when in the wrong hands / situation. Like it can get gamed to not be terrifying and chaotic, but weirdly safe.
Especially in one-shots, when the Wizard player is facing that big bad in the end.
@@Living4Crits even ongoing public open table games I've run into it.
I think it's less of a thing in regular games.
@@BeckettWarren It’s less of a thing but still a thing to some degree. Fantastic system for what it does tho!
@@Living4Crits it really is, like nothing else ever came close to recreating that original childhood excitement of d&d
Doom of the Savage Kings and the Emerald Enchanter two of my fave DCC models and easy to convert for SD. Though one of those 'cranked to 11' adventures, The Court of Chaos I had a blast running. And Lankhmar is perfect OSR atmosphere.
Court of Chaos is still on my list of adventures I need to run!
I’m going to run my Shadowdaek group through The One Who Watches from Below. The eye curse is just too fun.
One of my favorite modules for DCC!
Hey James, nice to see you are still doing the DCC. Hope all is well with you.
Still spitting a few out if I’ve got stuff to say. Cohost was carried away by the allure of the theater though!
@@Living4Crits Tell her hi for us. We miss her!
@@Living4Crits Do we get to "judge" Evie for her choices? :D
@@GrasenGM Yes. 100%
I backed Shadowdark and played it a little, I have heard a lot of good things about DCC modules, 100? well I will be deferring to your channel as what to pick up.
So in the early part of the pandemic I sort of made it a quest to finish all the DCC modules I had on my shelves. I had finished around 40 at the time. At one point I had two weekly campaigns going.
Watch for Humble Bundles from Goodman. I've purchased two now and gotten 100+ modules plus the core books for like $50. It is an incredible bargain for less than one new D&D Witches of the Shoreline.
Just picked up Shadowdark to day on the restock :-) also have DCC and love it. Seen alot of people talk about how easy it is to swap stuff between them to use :-) just add some extra bits for DCC to quirk it up a bit :-D
Good timing, I’ve been wanting to dip my toes into the DCC modules.
Maybe I'm psychic! :) The DCC Modules are so fantastic that it's going to be hard to go wrong. I could've easily picked another 5
I just bought all five, plus the Lankmar box set… this video was the “excuse” I needed 😅
If you want to see a great review of DCCL, while I cover it in my channel here somewhere, Jorphdan REALLY does a great job reviewing it: ruclips.net/video/jD8ajH96LvM/видео.html
Awesome, I’ll check it out.
Regarding the audio, there's a moment around 1:04 where you rotated the mic, and for a brief moment, it sounded much clearer/louder. Some mics are unidirectional, and it's important that they're pointed the right direction. I have to turn my audio to max to hear you in your videos. I'm happy to do so, even though I often forget to turn it back down, then get startled the next time I play a video and it's deafening. But maybe that's a feature, not a bug. 😁
I think I may just buy a better mic.
@@Living4Crits Poor mike. Abandoned for a richer, younger model. Left in a closet somewhere, forever alone...
Wait, what were we talking about again?
@@GrasenGM Now I have an emotional connection to an inanimate object!!!!!
Miss your weekly show, but love hearing you talk about DCC (even if it's just modules). What discord are you on?
Right now I'm hanging out most in the Shadowdark server as Judge James.
That medal is awesome 🤣
Thank you! My only claim to fame is that I ran so many of these damned things!
Love the shirt
Thanks, twas a birthday gift from the kiddos :)
I have yet to get my group to run either DCC or Shadowdark. We’re currently running 5e with a mix of DCC mechanics.
That breakdown between the two systems is helpful! Thanks.
Thank you for the feedback!!!!!!
Are there any Shadowdark Adventures that stand out as working well for DCC?
Probably? The only reason I don't really know is that I've been more inspired to write my own stuff for Shadowdark, rather than to run published modules.
Wdyt about Sailors of the Starless Sea in Shadowdark as a gauntlet?
I think anything is doable, but I still think that Sailors sets a level of gonzo standard that's hard to walk back to a more traditional dungeon crawl. But go for it!
100... I am doing a quick back of the eyelids calculation of how much you have spent on modules... 🤯
My game shelf is a bit ridiculous
