Hey guy. Have really gotten into watching your videos. As I told you, I did field service in KFalls 40 yrs ago. Left with full intentions of moving back after a few years. Life had other plans. Your videos bring back fond memories of the area. Used to do a lot of work on running Y and skillet handle ranches. Don't remember the names of some of the others but worked all over, Chiloquin, Merriil, bly, yreka, dorris, grass valley, keno, dairy, sprague river. These are just a few of the areas that come to mind immediately. Pretty hard work but the scenery was beautiful. I like the mix of repairs and the scenery. Add a little more of the surroundings if possible.

      @Alex-uy7pc 4 года назад +1

@William Underwood socialism is based on the "collective" theoretically, while capitalism is closely tied to individualism which is based on the individual, which leads to narcism and disconnection between peoples. That's in theory, capitalism (or whatever you call in in the US) is basically just state sponsored usary. It's an entire system based on compound interest and the enslavement it causes.
Ideally there would be a system based on the family, which is the actual category of nature.

    ONE STEP FARTHER !!!!
This is a very common problem for many different make models and manu's of Trucks and equipment of
this very common type shifter. It "IS ' the first failure to occur with age and use.
    1. The ball on the end of the lever wares and gets a diminished circumference, as well as gets a cam
affect on the pivot ball and spring , then forces the the lever out and up from the shift slots, then this
allows the ball to slip past the slot and out of place.
    2. The slot openings width wares and adds to this as well as the fork width on the sliding gear wares. It is
a collective problem due to ware.
    3. MY cure for years is to weld or braze the ball on the lever tip ( build up) to a larger diameter and longer
length by about 3/16- 1/4". do not change the flat side (fore -aft) dimensions just the ball face width
    and length.
Then take a grinder to the shift top and start hand fitting the side play between the lever tip and the fork
slot "if needed" , do not shorten unless needed. I have never had this issue of slip past the shift forks again. I.E. better than factory !!!

I appreciate your videos even more, now. I bought an old IH 125c loader & this dozer is a lot like it. Similar story - it belonged to a guy who was friends with the local IH dealer (way back when...) and bought the machine new. Mine needs a little fine tuning as it doesn't start up quite so quick - a bit cold natured (has the shorty can of ether mounted under the hood).
I hope to never need to do this repair but I thank you for videoing this 'just in case'. Your videos are like a service manual - we hope we don't need it... but we'd be screwed for sure without it!
Now take a day off and go fishing.

It's cool that the machine was bought new and is still working and on the same farm. Those TD series crawlers were pretty good, well engineered and well built. I like Cat, but it took them another 30 years before they had planetary steering that was as good as IH had back then! Besides, the bigger TD's had some cool factors - but they sure sound odd running on gasoline when they're first started!

Have you ever thought how long you spend going back to truck for tools.
Best thing I ever did was hire a young fella and teach him tools.
And the purpose of putting them back.

I know one thing as far as Deere vs IH a 806 will walk all over a 4020 in the field, same with a 1066 vs 4430. IH sure could make a engine.

I've seen some inept operators use the controls/levers
on equipment as hand grips to get up into machines, and do damage,
just like dislocating a shoulder- pull a shift fork, or even snap
off a ball. There should be handles, but sometimes they're
    removed for some reason.

I'm wanting to get an old dozer for around the homestead, something to tinker with to learn on and to use for smaller projects. I saw a '56 TD-9 with the 4 cylinder diesel that starts on gas to get warmed up before you switch over to diesel. Do you know anything about these? Worth checking into and possibly buying? They're asking 1500, i know there's a lot of variables to consider, of course. I just want to know if these are good machines and if i'll be able to find most parts i need.

My father had a dog once who was 1/2 German Shepard and 1/2 Rhodesian Ridgeback, he was a really friendly dog during the day, but, at night you had better stay off my fathers place at night. He used to visit around the neighborhood at times and once got attacked by TWO pit-bulls and whipped both of them and sent them both howling away.

I have had a cow try to get on my boat trailer while I was fishing a huge stock pond. Ripped my trailer wiring out of my truck. I had to let a few rounds out of my shotgun to get them to leave it alone.
