Who am I???
My name is Kirk Wynn and I've played drums (mainly worship/christian music) for over 25 years. That's cool and all but there's something else that gives me an added advantage when it comes to understanding the nuances of playing worship music. Aside from being a music producer & songwriter, I've spend the last 15+ years at the front of the stage leading worship. I've hired/fired, scheduled/unscheduled many drummers and I can tell you first hand what a worship leader is looking for in a drummer. And it's NOT amazing chops! It's more psychological than anything (as odd as that sounds). I, as a worship leader, will take a mediocre drummer that "gets" worship music over an awesome drummer who doesn't. Any day! So on this channel I'll be dishing out all kinds of things to look for and think about when it comes to playing worship drums at a high level. Again, it's more mental than anything. So even if you're just starting out, you're in the right place!
