Im so thankful you are here. Im not a great singer and ive been playing the drums on my legs my whole life. Now i want to play for OUR Lord. Beside my little apostolic church has one drummer. I have to have this down by his trip to Jerusalem so i can cover. I like the flam. I learned that with the only song i can play all the way through we will rock you. (Kids love that)
If you can play we will rock you you can play any worship song just slower and sometime instead of 4 counts it will go to 6 practice play along listen to the song play along and record yourself then repeat 👼
On the second fill. I really do that also and i learn it all myself. And good thing that i was watched it here and learn more. Thanks, bro. May God Bless you for teaching some beginners and for Pro's already that they'll familiar it again
Yeah, the pre-build and post-build fills are where I spend the most prep time. So many opportunities there to do your thing without it being really obvious or standing out.
The rock wont move, by vertical worship has a 32nd note build. Its got a snare 32nd note grove that builds into a super fun break down grove on the ride/crash. Awesome worship song
In the first fill you show R L R K then double crash. However, what is important to note is that there is a K with the double crash so actually it would be R L R K (K+C). Just an observation. That fill could also be R L R R K (K+C). The R R on the floor tom frees up the left hand and you can K+C with just the left hand and kick if you want. Then bring your right hand up to the ride and left hand back to the snare and continue your groove.
So that second kick would be the downbeat or the '1' after the fill. So if you count the fill out in 16th notes, the 4 notes would be '4(Snare), e(Rack Tom), &(Floor Tom), a(Kick Drum)'
I like this. Can you provide a couple more like this. I would like to build up my bag of fills. Also, in your R-L-R-K first tip are we crashing with another Kick? R-L-R-K (K+Crash)? Thank you.
I really wanted to learn to do fills to make my drumming sound better but when I try to do a fill I loose the rythm of the song and I can't come back to play it.
That is a good one, I've never played it though. I think these 2 fills in the video would work, but you would just have to change the feel to that 6/8 swing that the song is. Elevation also has a Worship Resources RUclips channel that is helpful.
genuine question: I'm left-handed, and just started learning the drums; on a right handed kit. Is it advisable for me to learn fills like these with right hand lead so that i dont have to cross hands? it would feel better with left but i guess that's worse in the long run?? what do u think?
I’d recommend switching the kit to be left handed. But of the 2 options, I would say right hand lead. Crossing over wouldn’t be great and it would also help balance your hands as you progress.
I’m really down for this, as far as basic, rudimental, drumming, and nifty takes on the fills, and things overall. I just really do not see how it correlates specifically with worship drumming as opposed to just good groove fills. Labels are labels are labels. Drumming is drumming is drumming. It’s just straightforward. The label doesn’t matter.
I get what you’re saying. These fills definitely aren’t specific to any style of music, but if you’re somebody that plays in church I think these are important to know. I use this label because I’m playing worship music 90% of the time and I find myself using these fills frequently. And practically, the label is useful in helping my intended audience find the video
Ikr? I love how they pretend this is actually some kind of genuine genre in its own right. Its just standard rock and pop drumming 😂 unless there's like, some rules about not crossing the sticks too low unless the sermon that week is about Saint Peter or aomething 🤣🤣🤣
I would say the style of pop/rock/country is closest to worship music but there are definitely some unique elements that make it its own genre. The lyrical content, obviously, but also some of the lead lines on guitar, piano etc can be pretty easily identified
I have a difficult time with "worship" drumming. Being a drummer on a worship team in Church I find freedom in chops rather than labeling. Labeling is a big issue in society for me, even at low levels like "worship drumming". Maybe videos can be labeled "chops to better you groove for the pocket and fills". Nice video though.
I think it is better, as there is many videos out there, otherwise i wouldn't have discovered this (could go the other way though). Very easy and informative.
Not gunna lie just a word of advice…. I came here for a drum tutorial. You chat wayy too much brother. Give an intro, play the fill, then teach me how to play it. Ive skipped 3 mins into the video and you haven’t touched the drumset so I’m not wasting my time.

Great sounding drums / mix! This is so simple but so essential, thank you for keeping it real, cause this is fundamental.
This is great! Simple, to the point but also room for growth and variation!
Thanks!
This is absolutely cool for beginners amd old drummer players ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤️
On the second fill. I really do that also and i learn it all myself. And good thing that i was watched it here and learn more. Thanks, bro. May God Bless you for teaching some beginners and for Pro's already that they'll familiar it again
Thanks. It's a simple fill of just 2 count to incorporate when playing worship if you really don't want to do too much
nice camera... and angle, and nice solid drum sounds. great tutorial for beginner like me.
Thanks. I plan on doing more in the future!
@@BrandonWeadonyes we need more of the worship tutorials. Thank you man. I’ve a lot. I’m waiting for other videos from you.
This helped a lot. Thank you and God bless!
Awesome. Thanks!

Awesome worship song
I LOVE that song. I used to play that one a ton at church. That part feels like 32nd notes because its a pretty high tempo, but its 16th
Very helpful, practical advise Brandon, thank you for this tutorial and keep up the good work!
God bless!
Thanks, Mark. I appreciate that!
Great for a beginner like me. Great explanation!!!👍
Glad it was helpful!
Mine's (R-L-R-L-L-K)... It's just my comfort zone for mellow type of worship song
Cool. Is that a triplet feel?
Thanks... the thing missing from worship drumming is usually feel, so anything that helps peeps with their fills will help with their feel. I hope.
Yeah. Feel and energy are huge
GREAT video Brandon! Love your perspective and approach.
Thanks. I appreciate that!
Спасибо, заливай больше видео, я буду продолжать пополнять свой багаж знаний так я начинающий музыкант 🤝💪🏼✌🏻
Great video! Good tips that work for all skill levels too
Thanks!
Yeah man great advice 🥁 love it 🇲🇩
Appreciate it!
Really good pocket, Brandon!
Thanks!
Excellent advice thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for this lesson..❤
Yep, he just covered the basics to almost 90% of contemporary worship drumming. Get solid on that and you'd be ok. 👍
Amazing
Thanks
This cool 😎.. thank you for sharing..
More grace
Lovely
To be clear: the loud hit with a flam is the count, the other smaller hit is before the count, not on the count. so it is ta-ONE, not one-TA.
Gotcha! Makes sense
Vitol information for the body to the encouragement of the saints thank you
Thankyou brother

same observation bro😮
Are you referring to hitting on the 1 (downbeat) with 2 crashes? I was only considering the 4 notes before the 1 as the 'fill', if that makes sense.
@@BrandonWeadon Oh ok, I see. Thanks for the clarification. Great info btw.
Nice 👊 thankyou.. God bless
Appreciate it!
On the first fill I noticed you give two kick drums, the last one goes with the cymbals
So that second kick would be the downbeat or the '1' after the fill. So if you count the fill out in 16th notes, the 4 notes would be '4(Snare), e(Rack Tom), &(Floor Tom), a(Kick Drum)'

Also, in your R-L-R-K first tip are we crashing with another Kick? R-L-R-K (K+Crash)? Thank you.
Thanks. I’ll give it some thought and come up with some more go-to fills. And yes, that’s correct.
@@BrandonWeadon Thank you!
I really wanted to learn to do fills to make my drumming sound better but when I try to do a fill I loose the rythm of the song and I can't come back to play it.
I’d recommend practicing the fills at slower tempos with a metronome at first
Knew you would do that first one
Haha. 🤷♂️
So someone can choose the part he love?
Like krkrll
Can someone do?
And also creat there own?
🤘🏻🔥🥁
me seeing "worship drumming" thinking this was gonna be a sleep token video
lol. Their drummer is sick
Hey bro. Trust in God is a awesome song. Elevation. What fills would you do for that song?
That is a good one, I've never played it though. I think these 2 fills in the video would work, but you would just have to change the feel to that 6/8 swing that the song is. Elevation also has a Worship Resources RUclips channel that is helpful.

What are those crashes your using?
On my left is a 20 Meinl Byzance Foundry. Right is Cymbal and Gong Revival 24in and 11th Anniversary 22in with rivets
is the first tom the one your using ? sorry can’t tell lol
Yep
What heads are you using on the Toms?
Remo P4’s
You used a double kick?
A double kick pedal? No

"modern worship" = contemporary pop and rock music.
Otherwise nice fills, good work.

Worship drumming?? Like II from sleep token then worship 🤚
lol. Somebody else said that too. That dude is insane
Please send me notes :/
Sorry, I don't have any notes. You may want to turn CC on and get it that way.

I think it's just a term to identify the genre of music. Would be like country drumming, pop drumming, rock drumming etc.

I think you skipped too early. Drumming starts at the 30 second mark
I bet it took longer to write this comment than it did for Brandon to start playing!
@@BrandonWeadonhe speaks the truth brother. 80% talking, 20% playing? Should be the other way around. 🙂
Then y'all surf to the next tutorial. In the time it took you to comment, you coulda found a tutorial for yourself 🙄
Eight and a half minutes for a two-drum fill tutorial? Seriously? The guy is just stating the obvious. You sure do talk a lot
