Recently, JND Studio fully revealed their Christopher Reeve Superman and Clark Kent 1/3 scale statues. I think the Clark Kent portrait is very well done, and the Superman likeness is around 85% for me. What do you think of this one?

Use the Kent portrait on the Superman with the hair changed and you have a total winner. The Kent already is a winner.
I agree Clark looks incredible!!
They already recognize that the hair is too puffy. His character never had that hair on the 1978 movie.
Now I don’t know if they will update the pics with the new hair, otherwise I’m still not ordering.

@@BatmanStatueCollectorSuperman face is as close as I’ve seen but seems lifeless Clark Kent is spot on. My problem as it’s becoming though they could be considered grail pieces I feel they are worth 1400 to 1500 tops not over 2000 each. This is the type of piece that should have had a larger edition number been priced reasonably even offering a 1/4 variant for 1/4 collectors. I only have 2 1/3 statues. They are just too big and too costly. Sadly side show presented a missed opportunity that has one of the worst head sculpts I’ve ever seen on a statue
The Superman statue reminds me more of the early stages of the “bad” Superman in Superman III when he was exposed to the manmade Kryptonite. He has that tired look in his eyes & a kinda disheveled facial appearance (5:00 shadow).

I think this is one of their best so far!!
The Kent figure is 100% perfection. Superman is 90% there. Outfit and pose are great. Likeness needs a little tweaking.

I'm sorry but it looks pretty awesome but i think personally we're in age of complaining and being negative is all i see now but if i could afford it i buy it right now
I think it's important for a lot of collectors to justify spending that kind of money, one must LOVE the item, it's all subjective of course.
On the Superman piece, I would say wait and see what other companies do. No point in purchasing something which is around 70% likeness., not at this price point.
Why can no one get Christopher reeves portrait right
he certainly had a VERY unique and one of a kind face.
It's amazing how many fails there have been. Harrison Ford is the same way...hard to capture him.

Agree with everything you've said. Clark Kent Reeve is excellent and highly accurate. The Superman portrait is slightly off and it's partially due to the rooted hair, which I feel can unpredictable. Wish they'd have sculpted hair as an option instead. Cavill is another I feel they never get right.
Yeah I think polystone with sculpted hair could have looks incredible. Again the sculpt is there for sure!!
IMHO Cavill is easily their worst portrait to date.

It’s just the hair on Sups. Comb it back a bit so it’s not so poofy in the front and it’s him.

I agree 100%. The Clark Kent statue hands down, is PERFECT. What the sculptors forget is in the movies, the makeup artists did subtle tricks to help differentiate Clark Kent from Superman, which they haven't taken into consideration here.
Clark Kent is pasty white, (which the sculpture artists got right) while Superman has a healthy glowing tan (which the sculpture artists got wrong).
The Superman statue, for all its greatness, is let down by the skin tone, the excessive hair, the darkness around the eyes, sunken/drawn cheeks, lack of color to the lips, and a 5'oclock shadow. Also, I feel the colors of the suit are a little off. The colors need to pop more, and not be muted. The red is a bit on the orange side, and the blue is a bit dark.
His look in Superman the movie is THE best he looked in the part, which most Chris Reeve statues attempt to emulate. That look is very different to his look in Superman 3 or 4.
The statue head with that hair style, and complexion and darkness around the eyes and 5 o'clock shadow, looks like it's from Superman 3 - the dishevelled evil superman - which is NOT what anybody wants.
Chris...to me the supes looks like half Reeve and half Brandon Routh. Which is kind of hilarious and ironic XD

It’s beautiful. Both. But for the price it’s not there. I am hoping for a Prime Blitzway.

Clark looks kinda on point. But Superman looks terrible, with saying that it does look like Superman's evil version flicking the penunts.

The Superman likeness looks more like "Evil Superman" from Superman III.
Still, amazing job. Best I've seen.
I would give the Reeve sculpt 95%. Fix the hair and all will be well. Either way, this to me is a grail and I secured the dual set.
Looks good to me. Both pieces are in the 90% likeness n nothing else is out there even comes closer imo. 😊

It looks like Ken Wahl as Superman or like others have said, my first reaction was it looks like Superman III Evil Superman. The hair is also wrong, too big and messed up.

Jeez, why do they have to make every Superman look so tired and hung over? I had high hopes for this but honestly from a distance I see more of a likeness to Reeve in that terrible Sideshow PF.
The superman portrait looks like the evil superman in sups 3. He looks a bit rough. I love them both.

Clark looks amazing. Superman looks like Evil Superman from Superman III. It's the hair and the complexion.
After watching the videos I do think that Superman looks great. Not perfect, but great. I do think the likness is indeed around 80 percent indeed. Maybe the hair is to big. The skintone could use some lighter. The suit is fenomenal. But somehow I don't really like the pose. The crossed arms don't seem to work for me on this statue. Clark Kent looks excellent 👍👏👏. Portrait 90/ 95%.The likeness to Christopher Reeve is far stronger compared to the Superman. The price point is high, but I think that it's decent for this piece. And indeed one of their best to date 👍.
I do think it's so very close, and will be a big HIT among Superman fans!!
Companies always based their figure to the 1978 movie, when Reeve’s best look was in Superman III.

Clark is perfect. Superman is the best Reeve out there but still need improvement from the facial and hair curl. If only Superman is perfect and Clark is flawed, maybe it won’t be that troublesome to many

This is the best. The OG Superman is actually better than adjusted version. The only reason why the OG Superman was slightly off and with the complaint is because of the hair
I think P1 & Blitzway should work together to make the best 1/3 scale Reeve’s Superman statue of all time.

Such a shame, reeves likeness is extremely difficult . However Arnie Kim’s Superman is the best I have EVER seen, definitely check his out .
I think JND nailed Clark, but something about Christopher Reeve's face as Superman is still off. Personally I think Hot Toys has come the closest to Reeve's Superman, thou still not perfect. When I saw pictures of the Hot Toys figure I got excited and wish I could find one!

There was a ALL BLACK SUPERMAN COSTUME. Now there's a stunning ALL WHITE COSTUME complete with matching CAPE and a YELLOW S SHIELD from Christopher Priests LOST series. It looks perfect. That's the next STATUE that needs to be done.
I think both statues look absolutely incredible! The Superman statue, in my opinion, is at least 95% there. I think maybe it's the hair that's just a touch too poofy.
Unfortunately, it is nowhere near 95%.

Honestly, I think big problem with the the Reeve Superman’s is too many of the artists seem to miss what made Reeve’s Superman such a touchstone even almost a half century later.
Reeve brought a fundamental warmth to Superman. A sense of joy, kindness and playfulness. But the sculptures keep trying to make a ‘stern’ Superman. Stressing more the physical strength and imposing nature of Superman. Yes, that facial expression and pose can found in the movies (and in the posters) and Reeves looked great.
What I want from a Christopher Reeve Superman is that Warmth. That joy. I want the smile. Even when they get that near perfect sculpt I think artists stress the wrong element of Reeve’s Superman.
The world doesn’t need another stone pose Superman. What we need is the magic that Christopher Reeve brought and is still felt nearly a half century later.
We need the Joy.

Spot on. I've always thought the same. While the Sideshow statue wasn't a great likeness, I did appreciate that they were going for a pleasant facial expression. At 6:59 here, there's kind of sort of a semblance of Reeve's nature, but yeah usually with the Reeve Superman statues, it's an unfitting stern expression.

The Superman sculpt looks like a mix of Christopher Reeve and Jon Hamm to me; having them both next to each other definitely pulls out Reeve a bit more though.

They don’t have a 3 D digital imaging of Christopher Reeves. It did not exist at the time. 😢 But looks Great!!
The Superman head actually looks more like evil Superman in the bar scene (Superman 3), minus the stubble...

What a Super Man.
I think the Superman sculpt looks like it was modeled from the 3rd movie. A little older with a mix between good and evil Supes.
At first glance I thought that the Clark portrait looked a little wider than the Superman one, then I remembered that when he's Clark he's always slightly slouched which would make his face and neck look "fatter" Look at the scene in Superman II when Lois discovers that Clark Is Superman at Niagara Falls. He takes off the glasses and drops those shoulders and the difference is night and day.
They need to use references from the first movie only to get it to look correct
The Clark Kent looks amazing but Superman looks like the version when he turned evil I'm Superman 3. The need to brighten his face up and tighten down his hair

Clark Kent looks more like Zak Bagans. As you said it seems to be due to the silicone. It still looks great compared to the Superman. I think it is the serious nature of the sculpt though. Remember Christopher Reeves smiled tons as Superman! They could have sold the one sculpt on both figures. Lol! Consider it a body swap out and throw in some glasses. Lol!

I don't agree with constantly saying that you lose something with the silicone, if that were the case then how could the Clark sculpt look so damn good even as silicone. It's the superman sculpt that's not quite to the same par and needs to be updated regardless of silicone or not.
That's a very good point, maybe I need to rethink what I'm saying.
Not sure but you can see from the actual prototype sculpture of the superman variant head. Its amazing. Once finalised its quite different. The chin is off and eyes are too. From a lower angle it looks better but anything else, its changes way too much from the original. We didn't see Clark prototype sculpt, so hard to say but there does seem to be an element of losing something in translation from sculpt to silicone
He's amazing, especially the Clark Kent, and Innart is making a Cavil Superman. I'm just glad Superman is getting some attention 🙌

Superman's hair needs to be fixed. It looks more like his hair from the 3rd film than the first.
Maybe it just needs to be smushed down a bit?
@@BatmanStatueCollector That would probably do it. I don't understand how they can get Clark right and mess up Superman. Then again, this is the company that thought putting shiny, clear plastic on Batman's suit looked like the movie.

I love these both & totally agree that the Kent sculpt is spot on but I also find the Supes scult pretty accurate too, I see what you’re saying about his hair but to me it looks like they’ve modelled this on the Reeve in S3 when he turns bad & his hair is a bit dishevelled, they are both extraordinary pieces though & JND have blown me away again! Struggled to find them on sale in the UK though 🇬🇧

They should have copied the Clark head and used that for Superman. I love the hot toys version of Reeve and think that’s the best likeness (and that figure is near 10 or more years old)
Still looks amazing though, but I’m hoping for a non silicone version for less than $700 (not the sideshow one, that one sucks, hopefully queen studios will do one!)

I think these sculpts are the best I have ever seen! I love these statues! If I had the cash I would definitely get them based on how great they look! And this is coming from a collector who has no interest in collecting figures or statues! LOL But these are so impressive I would love to have them...but 5 + grand for both is just way beyond my budget!
Sad thing about this statue that it’s 2200 dollars for a somewhat accurate portrait hard pass

Hmm l think the reason it looks better in the polystone video is because it's unpainted not so much because it hasn't been cast in silicon. A lot of sculpts look good unpainted but once painted that's when the flaws become more noticeable, in this case the eyes look too small.
Is Jnd known for adjusting sculpts based on consumer feedback?

Clark looks great. I'm sure the smirk and the glasses help sell his likeness, but I think they nailed his personality.
I don't see Christopher Reeve's personality in this Superman. I feel like it lacks the kindness and warmth that Reeve gave off as the character. I love the sculpted suit and pose, they really nailed that.
Both of these could be there best releases …just need to tweak the Superman statue a little bit …but I love how it looks like fabric but it isn’t ….the poses are also on point !
The problem is.... Everyone thinks their opinions matter. Honestly, until any of you produce ANYTHING, our opinions do not matter. It's always "we are paying" argument. This argument is used at EVERY PRICE POINT from McFarlane figures to Prime 1 ect. It gets old and annoying.
The only opinion that matters is how the individual feels about it.to either buy or not.
The hair and paint app is throwing Superman off more than anything imo. Clark looks high 90s, Superman more like 80, which is still pretty good. Fix the hair and brighten up those colours I reckon. He lools so drab!
The Clark Kent is unbelievable likeness! The Superman is good, but can use a little tweaking.

I agree Clark Kent got a better represetation than Superman in this two statues, but I don't blame silicone. Both heads have the same material. One is nearly perfect, the other is not. It must to have other reason. Maybe the hair or the sculpt.

@@BatmanStatueCollector There's a third potential cause: the painting. At some angles, the shadows seem a bit weird. It reminds the texture of a 3d model rendering. But it could be a combination of factors.
I don't think it needs anything. I think it's so close but it crosses into the uncanny valley with the silicone material. it looks so real that your brain flags it as danger.

I would be far more happy with both of them its stunning not perfect but i love the pose where he folding his arms you needed the smile of the clark kent on the superman version i would snap both of them if i had the money for me it's what i wanted to see in a reeve version of superman
Awesome video, Chris. I have to say the Superman piece is a miss for me. I love how great the costume looks being fully sculpted, but the face sculpt doesn’t capture reeve good enough for $2,100. Clark Kent on the other hand is amazing, but the price point destroys it. I still see the Cavill Superman available, making me believe Collector’s are being selective. JND has massive potential if they can reach more Collector’s.
I think the Superman sculpt looks great. Two things that throw it off. The hair has too much volume in it and the s curl is as prominent. Second is the neck seems just a tad too long. When your looking at the sculpt away from the body it’s great but once on the body that’s what’s throwing it off.
some angles of the face really look like a different guy on the supes piece .Then some its clearly him. strange piece lol.Still think the hot toys 1/6 portrait is the best to date .Dont know why he is so difficult.
Supes neck isn’t big enough..needs to be thicker like Clarke’s.😊

I’m not interested in another close/not quite there Superman.
Why do reveals??? Why not instead do a series of fan and expert driven “jury” and keep tweaking until it’s perfect. THEN release it!!!
