      Don't want to rub it in but bought a new Tyee CF back in the summer with nearly identical geo to the spindrift but a 170/160 setup. Rockshock lyric ultimate/ super deluxe ultimate coil, carbon bars/ cranks, Gx drivetrain, stans flow wheelset and code rsc's for £4200, absolute barging for one hell of a rig!! Fair play Propain! 👏👏Sounds like they need to sort it out in the US.

• @Philipp-ke2tb
      @Philipp-ke2tb 3 года назад +13

      I think they didn’t really mention it because they specifically reviewed the Highend version of the Spindrift. But in my opinion the customization is one of the biggest advantages of propain. If you don’t need the Carbon wheels and the XO1 AXS drivetrain, you can get the Spindrift with Factory Suspension for about 4500€

    • @ianw3811

      @@Philipp-ke2tb You're right. Can get a full fox factory build with 3900 Euros if you opt for a GX drivetrain and standard alloy rims. It's a great frame. Got the 27.5 alu frame since I don't like carbon and I honestly sometimes wonder about some of mikes comments. I run a 210mm dropper with room for even more at a size L frame. I'm182cm tall.. Never felt the seat tube was too long. The bike is made to work with 190mm fork too, so slap on a zeb 190mm and you have 0.5 slacker HTA. Something Mike did not mention. You can also run a full on DH fork on this frame. The al frame is very sturdy and quite stiff but also very heavy. As always it's a compromise.

      @@nejcbesal1578 downsides? Seems to eat frame bearings. It has very high leverage ratio, so it can be quite hard on the shocks. Upsides? All the rest. I think it's a great freeride bike. It's not meant to be an enduro bike I think, but it does lift days very well, as well as jump lines and whatever you throw at it. The bike is bomb proof, and it can hold up to a season of very hard riding no problems, where all carbon frames I have had start creaking and show signs of not really liking the hammering after half a season.

      @@ritchiephillips5084 mullet out of the box, I currently have the older 27.5 spindrift. And first thing I noticed was how short the rear is.. makes it very poppy and nimble for such a long travel bike. So I'm hoping the new bike feels the same only with the larger front wheel for ploughing over stuff. If I lived somewhere with bigger mountains I could understand why people want longer slacker bikes, but where I live has a mix of techy and dh so I feel the spindrift is a great all-rounder. With the 190mm dual crown fork It should sit at 64° head angle.and I could always drop the stansions in the triple clamps if I want to raise the front end and make it slacker if I head to the Alps or something.(or put the 200mm air shaft back in)🤔

    • @guareb4392
      @guareb4392 Год назад

      In fact: it wouldn't fit. I can definitely confirm that with regard to the 185 Bikeyoke Revive dropper on my L-size: Even if the seat tube was 2 cm longer, the minimum insertion depth would not change. For few of us with short legs the seat tube length of these bikes might be an issue, but for the vast majority, especially the ones using dropper posts longer than 15cm, imho it will not.

    i find many reviews that dont explain the relationship between stem length and fork offset. "this bike handles really well" is all good, but things change from 44mm to 37mm fork offset, and 35 to 50mm stem length. what were you running?
    somewhat related, i have a hugene with a 150/42mm offset fork and a 40mm stem. i also have a Tyee with a 170/37mm offset fork, and a 35mm stem. the latter bike was done so that i have the most sensitive steering at very high speed. it's kinda twitchy on slow uphill sludges, but that's not the sole reason why i purchased it, anyway.

    Good review! Considering that Propain also has the Tyee, I don't understand why they haven't went slacker with the Spindrift (63.5 would have been great. it's a 180/190 bike!). And yes, I struggle to understand what's in the mind of bike companies still using long ST...

    • @Endurophin
      @Endurophin 3 года назад +1

      @@dit4963 Propain is building 29er front and rear triangles and 27.5er front and rear triangles in every size. So if you order the Spindrift as a mullet bike you will get a bike with 29er front triangle paired with a 27.5er rear triangle. The front triangle has -23mm BB Offset and the rear triangle only has -10mm offset. Therefor the BB height relative to the ground will be exactly the same on a mullet and on an full 29er. That by the way also means that the mullet version is NOT slacker than the full 29er as seen on the geometry charts at Propain only the 190mm ZEB will have a slight effect.

    • @dit4963
      @dit4963 3 года назад +1

      @@Endurophin Yes, I know what you wrote. But not sure how is that related to the previous posts... After watching this review (and many others of your awesome videos) one question came to my mind...
    I ordered the Spindrift and I already have a second wheelset waiting for the bike to arrive. It'll be my bikepark wheelset sporting the 350 hubs with 36t ratchet. Maybe I'll upgrade to 54t later...
    I'm planning to buy another wheelset with a high engagement hub (maybe 102 or 120 teeth) for more aventure-like All Mountain/Enduro days.
    Now (finally) my question: Did you encounter any noticeable pedal kickback on the Spindrift with the Hydra hub?
    Thanx in advance and cheers from Germany!
