Great to hear about another brand you don’t see everyday. It is so tough to pull the trigger on a direct to consumer bike that you can’t ride first. I think reviews like this can be very helpful for people on the fence for a bike like this. Nice work!
Thanks Bill. Yeah, hope to give people a better idea of what they're getting into before they pull the trigger. The Tyee is an excellent bike at a good price point for people with a lot of wide open, high speed trails.... and a fearless pilot!!
Been reading some reviews from Germany, and Propain already listened to people, the new Spindrift has softer protector and the cables are routed differently too. Most likely these changes will come to new Tyee too. ;)
I get what you mean by a bigger bike not throwing itself into turns as well. I have a Ibis Mojo HD5 with similar travel but smaller wheels and it really takes a different style of riding to make it work on regular trails. What I mean is, you have to be *way* more active moving your weight around, especially in tighter turns for it to be at its best. Sick bike for anyone wanting a "do it all" imho!
I saw your review on the Yeti SB150 and curious how the two bikes ride compared to each other. Seems like you prefer the Yeti and looking for the one bike quiver killer.
[For my money] Full carbon Zerode with Pinion is the same money give or take and honestly is the best suspension I have tried (because of lack of cassette & der). Hard to tell real value from a bike review. Considering the cash required Propain has decent specs.
I don't like the cables lose under BB. Living in an area with lost of rain, trees, roots and sapling stumps creates a ton of trail debris that would get caught up in that.
02:38 My observations are that thats exactly what happens with these long and slack bikes if you don't weigh the front tire enough. Probably not specific to this bike.
I ordered it, but there is one wrong fact you said that there are just 3 versions in the Price but you can customise the Bike how you want. Great Video 💪
He said for the money, Sentinel is up there with the Yeti SB150. Nukeproof Mega is cheaper and will plow better than Sentinel. RipmoAF climbs and pops better than the Sentinel.
Like always a good video. No questions. I find a 50mm stem a bit lazy in the turns. In combination with the shorter fork off set it is more on the stabil side. A shorter stem would make it more direkt and aggressive. But the bike could be too short then. And a larger frame might not work because of the seat tube lenght. But good bikes and good video.
Many thanks for the review, great stuff. I clicked buy now 1 day before you published so very well timed, personally speaking. Glad you addressed some of the small things (cables, chainstay) so I can be ready to mitigate as needed. My question for you: Do you regularly ride bikes with coil suspension? I plan to add a coil to mine and I wonder if you will be keeping this bike long enough or are interested in how it performs with a coil rear suspension platform. The scant reviews that I can find online mention that it really improves the back end. Thanks again for your review.
