  • This video uses the excellent Cartes du Ciels (CdC) free planetarium to plot where in the sky it will be at its brightest.
Note the date and local time (before sunrise) on the top left of the screen.
The comet starts at magnitude -2 around 13 May 2020, and brightens to -8 on 23 May, -10 by 26 May, and -11 by 28 May.
All these estimates may change if the comet fragments from excessive outgassing.
See another time lapse capture of the comet in March, where a telescope is needed to see it

I went back in time to the Eclipse and Rev12 sign and guess what?
ATLAS was there. We just didn't know it yet.
Right at the nose of LEO.

Christopher Downing ATLAS is not the comet name. ATLAS is the project name that discovers, and will discover, asteroids and comets. This comet is C/2019 Y4, and was only discovered in 2019.

@@khalid_ba Yes, but once entered into the database, you can track it backwards indefinitely.

@@greetingsearthlingsmynamei6393 Even if was at the nose of Leo. So what?
We can have 1,000 interpretations on what that means or does not mean.
And there are other comets currently in the sky, though dimmer than this one. Historically there were many Great Comets, like McNaught in 2007, Hale-Bopp and Hyakutake in the late 90s, Bennet and West in 60s and 70s, and so on and on.
So how is any of that conclusive of anything?

Hi, I guess you are using Linux. Would you stare what is the distro?
