    Alcohol intolerance IS a blessing in disguise. For me it showed who my real friends were. "Oh..well see, we didn't invite you because you don't drink." 🙄"oh you eat so healthy, we didn't want you to feel isolated" pfft. Thank goodness for the intolerance. Love this, it resonates with my experiences so much. 🍵 Things that made a big difference for my reactive skin have been: fragrance-free skincare, cutting out alcohol, eating vegan, taking hemp oil every day (great omega ratio), drinking matcha and sencha instead of coffee, and adding mushrooms to my smoothies using a blend of Chaga, Reishi, Cordyceps, Turkey Tail, Lion's Mane. Thanks for sharing your tips, experience, and wisdom!

    • @twinklecaress
      @twinklecaress 2 года назад +1

      do you get the mushroom mix as a blended mix or you make your own blend?

    • @tersono
      @tersono 2 года назад +1

      @@twinklecaress I get a powdered blend of 5 mushrooms in equal parts, made out of fruiting bodies, from Harmonic Arts. But you can also get just the specific ones you want and use those also, or make your own blend. Another reliable company that sells these is Real Mushrooms. I like to get just the mushroom powder and then i can mix it in anything: smoothies, elixirs, food, etc.

    I started drinking matcha everyday 2-3 years ago to lessen the effects of acne while I tried to figure out what the heck was going on. I felt the effect within a week: my face suddenly felt dry even when it's usually oily from being dehydrated, and it feels like something is starting to rebalance how much sebum my skin produced. Over time, I've found that it counteracts a lot of inflammatory food that I put into my body, to the point where I don't need to be as careful with food to prevent breakouts.
    I still drink matcha everyday and definitely would recommend it. At most you're out maybe the dozens of dollars you spent to get a pack of matcha powder and whisk (No need for all the other accessories! You can even skip the whisk if you shake to prepare it like protein powder), at best you find another thing in your arsenal to help manage acne/ageing that also has a whole host of other beneficial effects on the body.

    • @gothamista
      @gothamista  2 года назад +10

      Love this! I like to think about how much I save making my own matcha rather than buying it everyday, and the whisking is meditative! Thank you so much for sharing!

    This was so great, thank you! Anecdotally, I also saw great benefits to my skin when I drank matcha every day (wanted a way to cut back a little on coffee lol). My complexion evened out in colour and I got far less breakouts. Non-skin wise, I felt like I had a nice steady level of energy and brain clarity that lasted hours, instead of the spike and drop I had with lots of coffee. Matcha really is amazing!
    edit to add: as much as I love the ritual of making matcha, if you don't have a sieve and whisk (or the time), you can get a great froth with a handheld milk frother

    Dairy is rarely the reason why people get acne, but when they do, it's not because of the "hormones in it" (this is pure misinformation), but because they are having digestive issues that won't allow them to properly digest dairy. Many of those that suspect might have lactose intolerance, when they fix the root cause, can get back to good quality dairy after some time.
    Actually, my skin got way better when I reintroduced milk after 9 years of plant-based diets. The calcium, retinol, iodine and many other nutrients in it are very beneficial to our health, and it's a balanced source of all three macros. I just make sure I get fresh milk from a local farmer, whose cows are grass-fed.

Matcha (and good green tea) has made such a difference in my skin! If I need my skin to look good for a event, I make sure I drink green tea regularly before the event. I’ve found Golde makes an affordable and good-tasting matcha (tastes as good as more expensive matcha) - I love using it with their matcha turmeric latte mix for an extra boost!
