That's probably one of the most professional side by side reviews I have seen in a very long time. Just the facts and still leaving the choice up to the consumer to decide. If more small businesses would take the time to research for quality instead of sales, there would be fewer small businesses going under. You're on the top of your game Jay, and all of you at Volunteer Audio. VA's Ethics, Morals and quality concern for our lifestyles is enriching. Thank you all for everything you do for us. Lifetime customer here.
Hey Jay, thanks for another stand-up review! I am so thankful to have found your channel and your very in-depth reviews of your products. I've gotten the full V2, and stage 6 speaker upgrade with the 1000 watt amp, along with the Titan8 battery! You are my go-to place for all things motorcycle audio, etc. Keep up the good work! Who or what kind of business puts expletives on their products!?!?! Not only unprofessional, but regardless of the type of biker they cater to, 100% unacceptable.
Honesty is best Policy. I have done 2 Roadglides now all Hertz and one has A2B interface. You have never given me bad products or advice. I would lose my mind if I bought that and an Apple update killed the CarPlay. Great video of Facts Jay, as always.
I’m so happy I found a honest businessman! I bought my first Harley in September 2024 SG and i bought the new Hertz amp and speakers absolutely love it. My buddy has diamond auto and he wants to upgrade, thanks Jay. PS still waiting on the cutting kit.
Thank you for this information. As someone not in the industry, I would not have known about some of these specific items. It is too bad people and companies try to deceive, rather than just producing a quality item.
I’ll send this video to a couple guys I know that have diamond ra-did-e-o’s in their bikes. When is Soundstream gonna cum out with a replacement radio for the 12.3 inch newer model HD’s? 🙂
Good morning sir suggestion can you do a video on a tour of your tool wall on how to set it up like that and what you used if possible thanks your videos always are always easy to follow.
Thank you for sharing this information as a consumer without the equipment to check the specs myself I rely on the company's honesty in making my decisions to purchase some products if the product is good it will sell itself so why be dishonest?
This... right here is exactly the reason i spent my money at Volunteer Audio, and will never recommend, or take my business anywhere else. 5 stars buddy! Keep doing what you do so well! P.s. im probably one of the most foul mouthed persons i know, but i couldn't agree with you more that the cursing on the product is horrible business practice.
I have purchased and owned both of these units for my Street Glide. I initially purchased the Soundstream, but there were issues with it. Sometimes the screen would go blank randomly, I could hear my music but the screen was blank. This happened several times and the only way to fix it was to turn it off, and then back on. I eventually had enough when the neutral indicator on the screen wouldn't work unless there was pressure being put on the screen. When pressure was removed it wouldn't work. I took it back to the shop and they asked if I wanted a new one installed or if I wanted the Diamond Audio. I chose the Diamond Audio. After installation I immediately noticed how much faster the Diamond Audio is and how much slower and delayed the Soundstream is. The Diamond Audio also has WIRELESS Android Auto/Apple Car Play. The Soundstream is wired only and would randomly disconnect. I hated riding with my phone attached to my handlebars, but with the Diamond Audio I can put my phone in my pocket and it stays connected to Android Auto with no issues. The Diamond Audio screen is also better imo because I don't notice nearly as much glare as I did with the Soundstream. The Soundstream was hard to see at times. Overall, I like the Diamond Audio a lot better.
Update: When I purchased the Soundstream last year they didn't have the new wireless unit available. The Diamond Audio was $99 more than the Soundstream.
Your comparing the Soundstream from 2 years ago, the latest model has certified wireless CarPlay and a much brighter screen / indicator section. Also if you had to apply pressure for indicators to appear the person installing the radio pulled it in too tight and broke the board, it could have been warranted but I understand the shop swapped you to the other brand. In our testing current radios are no comparison, Soundstream is lightning fast on phone connection wirelessly and much brighter screen. Plus you have the assurance of certified CarPlay and certified android auto. As time goes on the radios keep getting better
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. I remember 30 years ago when Diamond Audio was an absolute top tier brand. To be fair, even Soundstream has dropped in quality from their made in USA heyday, but the V2 I bought from you guys is at least pretty good.
Im from the Navy and a Firefighter. Cursing is a second language 😂. I am upset I purchased the radio before realizing it doesn't have headset support. Not a big deal. Thankfully i have an android phone using Waze.
Amen that cursing has no place in business.....It took me a long time to train my installation crews that they have to watch their language when on a job at a customer's home. People that curse all the time seem to think that it's normal, but to the rest of us it's simply crude and offensive. I had a friend tell me something one day....my response was, "Bill, do you have any effin idea how many effin times you said eff in that last effin sentence?" He said, "Do I really sound like that? I had no idea." Many people curse without even realizing that they are doing it. It's a nasty habit. It really makes me cringe when I hear men talking that way in front of their children. What ever happened to manners?
Not so much for me. I do cuss sometimes but I have friends that don't have a filter and I won't hang out with them in public because I think its rude to cuss around people you don't know.
They trying to be sneaky and shady with misleading information. Trying to be cool by using curse words, then have the audacity to try and sell this scamming junk to bikers. Like you said, there’s always Walmart. LOL
@chrisgreen1703 interesting!! My kid loves my bike and even enjoys helping me do different things with it but I can't recall one time in the last several yrs that he picked up one of the boxes and read something on it and he's usually one to want to read anything in front of him.
Jay must have a poor memory, the first Epsilon(sound stream) units had their share of issues. I had kind of gotten over some of his bs because he has had some interesting videos lately. Now he has returned the sour taste to my mouth.
The first radio for Harley was the hdhu14+ it has been in bikes for 3 years now and has been a great radio, sure Soundstream leaned a lot by listening to these radio owners and added features they asked for on future models that eventually evolved all the way the V2 radio. You may misunderstand why this video was made. I have no problem with diamond making a radio for Harley Davidson, competition is good and drives the technology forward as the companies compete against each other but they should have at least built a certified unit with proper internals. I’ve been in the audio industry through the bad times and the good times. When a low quality product is advertised incorrectly and consumers get burned it hurts the entire industry. Thank you for watching!
I curse like a sailor….I don’t love that I do but the military for more than 20 years has a habit of doing that to you….when I see something like that and the 7” line of the bottom of the box….I think in my mind “really?…is this company run by a teenager..grow up”
I feel like the HDHU.9813SG is a better side by side comparison. Wireless Apple Car Play aside, The Diamond and the "V1" Soundstream look very similar, even the display (4 icons vs 5, screen brightness, etc.) is nearly identical. Also, Android is Linux. Linux is an open source operating system. "Android" is just a skin and graphical interface. It's not it's own proprietary operating system. I'm not saying you don't have valid concerns with the Diamond Audio unit, but your comparison is biased towards the Soundstream, even if it didn't need to be. To be clear I am in no way defending the Diamond Audio unit, I just wish you would have compared it to the unit it more closely copies.
@@aegixxer1 wireless is the future and where it becomes more important to be certified, also both the diamond and the whdsg claim to have the brighter screens, the diamond radio started shipping July of 2024 and the whdsg will be shipping late January 2025 so a better comparison than using an almost 2 year old radio that has been discontinued

Thank you, the only radio with wireless headset support is the Soundstream v2 for 2014-up, more year ranges will be coming in the future
Don't the roadglide and streetglide from those years use the same radio?
No sir, 98-13 models are shaped very differently, 14-23 use the same radio for RG and SG
Not when your adding CarPlay, the screen must be specifically shaped for the fairing
