He is completely right! I just added a complete 6 speaker system he has for my 2012 RG. And it freaking rocks!!! Totally recommend VA for your next riding system.
i ordered a stage 1 kit for my 2022 street glide last week and can't wait to get it and install it. I've been watching your videos for over a year now and finally pulled the trigger. After watching this latest video I'm so confident I made a great decision and I now know my next purchase will be your 6x9 lid speaker kits. I'll be sure to run my rear speaker wiring down the spine when I do the front speaker and amp install. Thanks for all the great work, research and, videos you do!
This is why we follow you. No BS, just tell it like it is, and save people money by not paying for things that only sound good when the bike is sitting still. Thank you. My Sounstream due to arrive tomorrow, and I'll start putting it in. Thank you, God Bless
Hi Jay, Very good honest down to earth advice. I enjoy listening to someone speak with passion about audio. I design and sell audio visual systems for a living predominately PA systems, schools, churches, stadiums, etc. I so like hearing from someone who has the knowledge and doesn't hard sell but informs through their work and sales come as a result. I whole heartedly agree with the statement about the subwoofer not really being required. I took a 2022 Road Glide Special and installed a DSP, three power amplifiers, bridged two of them, one to drive the Ground Zero 6.5's fairing speakers and the other to drive a pair of Polk 6x9's in the Precision Power cut in kit (many thanks for you video on how to install these, you so feel that point of no return once the first hole is drilled). The third amp drove a Fusion 10" subwoofer in the left bag. Around town having a subwoofer was a hoot, the seat would shake at times, however, at speed you could just hear it, sort of, maybe? I sold this bike just recently and I'm moving onto a 2024 CVO, on your advice I have already purchased Hertz 6.5 NEO's for the fairing (I would have done it through you shop however freight is crippling from the States to here in Australia at times more than the purchase price of the item). I'll do the lids in the future too recycling the Polk's as I dropped some other 6x9's in the 2022 before I let it go. Once again many thanks for these videos they inform as well as entertain.
Thanks, Jay for another great video. I have your six speaker system in my 2018 CVO St. glide all I can say is wow it is amazing. Thanks to you and rick for help me get everything I needed. It is crystal clear and it rocks !!!!

I've been intently watching your videos! I've learned so much about the audio system I have, what I need, and what I want. The information about the lowers versus the tour pack speakers made me rethink my plan for the sound system on my 2019 Street Glide CVO. I will be seeing you guys very soon in the near future!
2018 Tri-Glide. Main thing I am looking to do is add volume, bass and improve functionality of stereo. Currently the time it takes my radio to connect to my phone is crazy long. I would like to know what you recommend for the best sound possible without breaking the bank. I am in central NC, so I am also going to have to rely on someone else to install what I buy from you.
I have spoken to both Rick and Samantha on multiple occasions. Always a pleasant experience! I have a '20 Road Glide Limited, OE head unit, big Hertz amp, SX165's in the fairing, SV165's in the lowers and tour pack, and the Hertz cut-in kits with the (forget the number) Hertz 6x9's in the lids. It is ridiculously loud and clear even at 100 mph (confirmed it last weekend). I am surprised to hear that my overall sound might be better without the SV's in the lowers. Overall I have been VERY happy with Volunteer Audio. Hoping I can get down to Oliver Springs this summer on the bike to pay a visit! Keep up the good work, and God Bless
Just talked with y’all today. Was a little confused on what I wanted to do. Now I am going to start with 4 speakers Precision Power for my 13 RoadGlide Ultra. Already have the Soundstream with MagicCast. That was a real score for an older bike. Already cut out my pods to tour pack as shown in one of your videos.
Your team is amazing one year age I bought the stage 2 for my 22 road glide sounded amazing and just last week I bought the saddlebags hertz kit with 6x9 wow the difference is out of this world
I live in Tucson, home of J&M Audio...so that's what I have. (2015 Streetglide S) I love those folks bunches, but I wish now that I had found VA first. The straight forward approach is just so honest and refreshing, not to mention incredibly informative. My radio is already flashed by them, and I have a Rokker 400w 2-channel amp, running (2) Rokker batwing speakers. It's fine, but it's either not incredible or I've just become used to it. Probably a little of both. Maybe I'll just upgrade the amp to one of these Hertz models (but as I recall, my amp's inputs are RCA, which sometimes loses the left channel signal) and see if that moves the needle enough to satisfy me...audio seems like a heroin addiction...chasing, chasing, chasing. I tend to have Buyers Remorse often when dealing with motorcycle audio.
Jay, Another good one. I looked back in all your videos, and maybe I overlooked it, but have you done one on the different amps you sell. Pros and cons of one over the other. I will look again, but if not another thought. Also, great camera work for who ever does it. Thanks for all your knowledge.
I was shocked how loud and clear the sx165’s in the fairing are with the hertz 4.900 I was like holy moly that’s loud. I don’t have a tour pack. I will eventually put the 6x9’s in my lids. But wow I was shocked if it’s the same loudness in the lids it will be awesome! Thanks jay
Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge on motorcycle sound systems. Could you do a series of videos on setups for specific genres of music. Jazz, Hip Hop/R&B, Country, Rock/ Heavy Metal etc.
And here I just ordered the lowers for my bike to have a 4 speaker system. But I also travel alot on my bike and need every bit of space in the rear for cargo.
I was surprised you didnt include the precision subwoofers into these combinations. After watching thoses videos i was convinced to add them but heard notging mentioned in this video?
We are no longer selling the drop in subwoofer from precision power because there are several better options coming very soon. I’ll go over them as soon as they are available.
Great info Jay! Any idea on how to tackle the new 2024 bikes with the integrated Stereo and gauges??? I'm thinking of a new bike but the speakers sucked on the demo bike I rode!
Hey Jay, This is a very informative video. Especially the info on using or not using a DSP. That part answered a lot of questions I had.. I have a 24 RG and will be starting off with the 2 speaker system and wait for a Lid cut template to add those. Patiently waiting to see what comes available from you lol. Thnx for this video...
If you want to hear the rears and have a more full sound don’t hook up the lowers, it’s not that lowers sound terrible they just take away from what most people want more of, bass and enveloping sound
@volunteeraudio, if I decide not to install any speakers in the lower fairings and instead use them for my Tour Pak, what wiring do I need to purchase from you to make this setup work? I own a 2018 Street Glide CVO with Boom 2, and I've already bought the Hertz amp and the Hertz speakers featured in your post.
You won’t hear the mid bass drivers at speed when pointed into your wheel well, they will add mid bass while sitting still and outside of the bike but to most it’s not worth the added cost when you don’t hear them well while riding
Awesome video as always…… I just got a 2010 street glide it has an aquatic av stereo and I was told it has hog works speakers in the fairing but I listen to rap music and there’s zero bass can you recommend me a good setup for listening to rap music plus maybe add some 6x9s
Very informative. I recently installed (and commented on it in another video) a system from you. Very happy with the results, but I skipped out on the amp for now mostly for cost reasons but left the option open for the future. I went with the HDHU14+ and 652 Precision Power 6.5's at 2 ohms; 4 speaker system for an Ultra Limited. Sounds really great but certain music apps are quieter than others which an amp would probably help. Question then is what is the max power those 652's can handle and what amp would work best with those 2 ohm speakers. Don't anticipate ever doing lid speakers which is why I stuck with 2 ohm. Thx!
Great video Jay you have explained this so well . Hertz SV’s seem to be hard to acquire here in Australia. So I have decided to go for a complete 4 speaker Precision Power set up for my Ultra including amp and V2. With a set of 6”x9”s in the future. That should sound good and power draw is not as high as opposed to the Hertz amp as it is for Touring 👍🏻🇦🇺
Well I must say I learned far more than what was expected and you did a great job of explaining… now I am it a Ultra Limited 2023 model and I want the best sound possible!! How ever I really listen to music while riding but that might change with this bike I am force to buying used because no one can put stage Four on a new bike and I want the upgrades!!! With that said I also want a matching sound system even if I don’t ride with it blasting but when I fuel or parked I want to listen to some loud and clear and I don’t want to try and do the work myself… so you can imagine my delight in finding you and listening to you honestly and sincerely speak! I would like for your company to design install my sound system! How can I e-mail you ? Thank Crybaby 😢

I just bought a hdhu si soundstream. I only have the two fairing hertz 6.5 neo speakers in the fairing. May get amp and hertz cut kit and hertz 6x9 speakers next. .. Today was my first ride with it!! p.s. the 0-60 and 1/4 mile gauges are not working .. (2014 streetglide) i believe it has mestro firmware 2.20 you put in it.

I'm a happy repeat customer. My question is I have a 2015 cvo road glide ultra with a sound stream si head unit with stock amp and speakers. Is there a speaker upgrade I can do for fairing and tourpac ?
Great video, I am hoping to pull the trigger on a system soon. Have you ever done 26x9s in each lid? 1 facing up and the other facing In towards the wheel?
2023 Road Glide Limited. I need the full system beginning with the SoundStream V2, Hertz 4.900 amp, Hertz front/rear speakers and lid speakers. I need you to build my plug/play package and ship to Texas, or should I bring my bike to you to install?
Great video and I can tell you know what you’re doing when it comes to bike audio! Question,… I have a 2014 FLHTK factory system. Can I add replacement speakers in the fairing and tour pack and still use the factory radio an amp? If so, what is your recommendation for fairing and tour pack speakers? Or, would I have to add an amplifier to do this?
You can gain sound quality and clarity by replacing your speakers with the hertz neo series, sx165neo in the fairing and sv165neo in tourpack location but to gain significant volume you will need an amplifier
Great and informative videos. I have 2018 ultra limited. I purchased your sx165 neo for fairing and sv165 neo for fairing powered by Rockford Fosgate TM 400x4ad. Got it flashed from local stereo shop in St. Louis. It sounds good, but I don’t think it’s the right flash because when I kill engine it sound’s different than engine running. Am also thinking of installing hertz 6x9 in bag lids. Just wondering how to tell if it’s the right flash. Thank you 25:01
@@RandallHouse-r1u watch our series on flashing Do you know what flash is in your factory Harley Davidson® radio? How to find the EQ.bin flash code ruclips.net/video/6Uw4gyLca0I/видео.html
@@RandallHouse-r1u I would highly suggest a larger more powerful hertz amplifier, the tm400x is 2ohm stable so it will work if all your speakers are 4ohm
Hey Jay. Just wondering how much adjustment is needed if you upgrade from factory radio to the new sound stream. I currently have your precision power/Infiniti 4 speaker system on factory radio. Fronts and lids. It’s probably a phone call question. Will my amp have to be re-tuned ? 2023 SGS. Great video by the way.
Hey J question. Could 8inch midbass or coaxial tuned properly in the lowers add better bass considering it has a larger voice coil and cone area? I have 10s but have the bass dialed down during riding and i would like to have better punchy bass projecting from the front when I cruise at low speeds
Ok i added my tour pack and have sv165’s and sounds great. Def hear it clear going down the highway. Now my question is when adding the 6x9’s in the lids with the tour pack speakers will the amp just split the power of the rear two channels or will the herts 4.900 detect 4 4ohm speakers on the rear channels and i guess go to a 2ohm load and boost the power to 2ohm load voltage on output? So your getting say 150 to each and all 4 rear speakers? Thanks
@@cholber1 yes rear output will automatically increase when it sees the extra speakers, my favorite system is exactly what you describe doing. No need to change any amp settings
Jay: are the Hertz SV-165 and the Hertz SV-165.1 speakers identical to each other? I am looking to put a pair in my TourPak. I already have the Hertz amp (bought from Volunteer audio) and the Hertz 6x9s in my bag lids, and the Hertz 165 NEO 6.5s in my fairing.
I want better volume and sound with my two stock speaker/head unit. I’m on a budget of course being a disabled veteran I have to watch my finances. I really like the hertz system y’all talk about. I just can’t afford the 2k price tag. Any suggestions?

It does not add much that you can hear while riding , double 6x9 lids sound good but are known to leak water
I’ve viewed your installs but I have yet to see an install on an ultra limited. Does Soundz have the new head unit for this bike?
Sound stream does, we do many ultra limited models, same as any Streetglide in method

2023 Road Glide Limited. I need the full system beginning with the SoundStream V2, Hertz 4.900 amp, Hertz front/rear speakers and lid speakers. I need you to build my plug/play package and ship to Texas, or should I bring my bike to you to install?
Give is a call and we can help you build the perfect system, we make it easy to install but you could come here as well, 1-844-30AUDIO
Is there any way we can make a sub for that 23 Tri Glide without taking up any space

Any issues with hertz neo 6x9 mounting and sealing with the precision power cut in kit? Thanks
Not when you follow our step by step video and add the weatherstrip as we do in the video
How to find the EQ.bin flash code
ruclips.net/video/6Uw4gyLca0I/видео.html
Was also wondering if I could run 6 speakers on my RFosgate TM400x4ad?
@@RandallHouse-r1u I would highly suggest a larger more powerful hertz amplifier, the tm400x is 2ohm stable so it will work if all your speakers are 4ohm
The flash I have is 08_OFF. bin
If I use the bags and tour pack for storage as intended how does that affect things (other than the tour pack rattling like a box of cans)?
Clothing does not effect it much at all, sometimes it makes it better
What would you suggest for a 23 can am RT limited
I do not have systems for can am
What about 8” lowers?
Still not enough air space to get good low end
Does Soundstream plan on making a new stereo for the new 2024 street glide and road glide with the 12 " screen ?
Only time will tell, those bikes are too new to make predictions yet
I thought as much but it never hurts to ask@@volunteeraudio
Yes it will need adjustment, we can send pics of the proper settings if your using the maa4.400
@@volunteeraudio yes that is the correct amp. 800W peak.
Thank you for replying. We will be in touch.
Hey J question. Could 8inch midbass or coaxial tuned properly in the lowers add better bass considering it has a larger voice coil and cone area? I have 10s but have the bass dialed down during riding and i would like to have better punchy bass projecting from the front when I cruise at low speeds
You need a larger enclosure to have good bass than a lower has
Ok i added my tour pack and have sv165’s and sounds great.
@@volunteeraudio thanks for the quick reply!
Do they have cut kits for 2024 road glide and are you able to do anything with android phone on the bike
Cut kits are in development, android auto we will be releasing a fix soon
Very nice Jay.
Thank you
Are we getting close to the amp switchout on 23-1/2 cvo?
Very close
If I add an amp does it take much more out of the battery. If it's set on auxillary how long can you run it with the bike turned off.
We only use amps that are under the electrical requirements of your bike, depends on the battery and volume as to length of playtime
No you want the sv165neo, the older model was not Neo or waterproof, also there are sellers that have counterfeit versions on Amazon and eBay
@@volunteeraudio so for my TourPak, SV-165 Neo over SX-165 Neo? (Because less treble, more midrange?)
@@daveallen1973 yes

I want better volume and sound with my two stock speaker/head unit. I’m on a budget of course being a disabled veteran I have to watch my finances. I really like the hertz system y’all talk about. I just can’t afford the 2k price tag. Any suggestions?
The kenwood excelon system is a great value, what Harley do you ride?

Jay you mention in the video that the SV165 will play down to 60hz? What kind of power are you feeding them crossed there?
190 watts rms, this is tourpak mounted
190 per speaker or 95 per speaker and 190 to the pair?@@volunteeraudio
