Matt's pure excitement over parts is such a joy to watch :) I love how he never stops being like a kid in a candy shop. Seeing someone else with true passion for their interests is always a pleasure! So glad you took the time to film this bike.
Yeah you know what they say about the Apple falling not far from the tree
Yeh his dad was the same way
bbv
Matt is AWESOME when we went to WTT 2007. We were looking at one of the mtorcycles Matt came up and asked us if we would like to hear it run of course we said yes and had the pleasure of having him take us through the museum starting motorcycles and telling us the stories of each one it was awesome
faagg
The fact it sat for 40 years and fired up is a testament to the quality back then.
That's what's charming about old bikes and old cars, they are not as reliable or confortable or safe as modern vehicules but they are so straightforward that they don't break that often and when they do it's easy to fix unlike stuff today and you have that raw mechanical feeling you don't get nowdays
that hasnt been sitting 40 years. I bought a car that had been sitting 40 years and the brakes were siezed on, the oil was like treacle and the water was like minestrone (know thats not a factor for a air cooled bike).
I'm glad you have your father's passion to keep building the collection.
Time just disappears on episodes like this! What an amazing find!
Amazing find. I bet 4000 miles goes by a lot faster when your dreaming about what you just found! Beautiful bike.
How is there only just over 100k subscribers??? I'm obsessed with this channel....
Spread the word! Haha Thanks for watching.
I've got an old friend that started on HD's. He's built and laced hundreds of wheels., and has never had a dealer touch any bike. Wasn't any bike that he couldn't get running. Mechanically working was all he wanted. His candle is at it's end now. The stories he can tell. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
I can see Dale in Matt. The excitement, passion and knowledge is evident in every video.
Your enthusiasm is contagious. I'm your dad's age (born in '53) and eating this up. Thank you.
My dad told me when I was young, "They're only original once. Those are the ones to find & keep."
Great video Matt. Unbelievable that bikes like that are still out there
Always happy to hear you talk up originality with so many folks "restoring" anything and everything they can get their hands on....And that originality is what makes the Museum so special. The bikes (and all the memorabilia and apparel) bring the owners back and into the room with you to share the motorcycle spirit and passion...riding up this weekend for a visit and tickets....
I could see your excitement. ! Made my day ! The knowledge , the no how , the enthusiasm for vintage machines , price less !
Oh Yeah That muffler shield/cover looks great on that beautiful bike.
JUST THINK ABOUT IT THIS GUY IN 1950 WENT OUT AND BOUGHT A NEW HARLEY (WHICH LOOKS GORGEOUS) WHEN THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF EXSERVICE ONES GOING FOR A TENTH OF THE COST. BOUGHT WITH LOVE
You must pinch yourself every morning. You are living my dream. Love the work you and your dad has done over the years and look forward to ask you will continue doing. The love you have for the work you do is just like your dads. I'm sure he's smiling down upon you.
You have found the Holy Grail ! Absolutely an amazing find!
Beautiful bike, I don't know what to say I wish I had a bigger screen to see it better.
An absolutely beautiful piece of history man what a beautiful original bike I believe this one is my favorite of all that I've seen...something tells me the previous owner had to cry when it rolled away to it's new perfect home for it...watching this video I was almost as excited as Mike which is probably impossible but anyway be safe have fun everyone
What a sweet motorcycle..I'm in love.. the rumble is sweet music to my ears ! I think that would be a nice give away bike !
What a fantastic find!!! 👏
Looking At That bike brings up two words ROAD TRIP
Wow!!! Your Pap would be proud! 👍👍
Love all the old bikes...I use to ride a stick shift bike...it was a pair of vice gripes on the shift arm. with a stick tied to it..thanks for the youtube video's.im in Canada.and would more then likely never get to see the stuff you have..the plain.. the transport.. the side car passenger driver bike...so much cool stuff
Love how Matt gets on a mission to make it run and wastes no time. I do the same thing with motors. Nothing more satifying than getting that first startup!
That is beyond cool and to see your enthusiasm is even cooler. Man, I need to ride down and see your museum.
Beautiful bike . Wish i could visit you museum but i live in WALES . Keep restoring them bikes MAT loving you show.
All the best keep up the good work .
Don't be a spanner. Hop down to Portsmouth and commandeer a ship and sail to North Carolina.
@@TheAsheybabe89 i booked it today.I need somine to steer fancy it . lol
Pretty amazing. Your excitement and passion must be contagious to work with
Glad you shared your treasure find with us!!!
Loved seeing Chris more hands on !
Hey guy’s thanks again for the “sneak peak” on this bike when we met, and for also sharing its amazing story with everyone.
Very cool. You're doing a great job!
Totally cool! Amazing shape bike, do you try to fix the big dent dent in the gas tank? Maybe not, don’t risk messing up the paint.
Aren't they're lots of shops that'll do that? Although I believe my dad got a gas tank fixed once and i think I remember him talking about how they messed up the paint or caused a leak or something like that because they dropped it
They will fix it......you can put air in the tank and push the dent out
Vacuum dent removal
The look of excitement and pure joy on your face is priceless when you fired that thing up after 40 years and rode it through the yard and then made the comment about hoping the brakes work as well as the throttle... Outstanding...
My dad had 2 pan-heads when I was a kid. A ‘58 and a’59. He sold them both in the late 70’s at the insistence of my mom. It absolutely broke my heart. I often wonder whatever became of those beauty’s. I’d sure like to have at least one them them now. Great episode..I love your enthusiasm!
Always the women that ruin the fun lol
Phenomenal bike Matt, beautiful color
Always the best videos on the planet. Matt is awesome 👌 👏 👍
Truely another fantastic bike
REALLY COOL!!!! What a good looking bike!👍
I'm slack-jawed and speechless.
What an incredible time machine. Unbelievable. Some paintless dent repair on the tank and some 0000 steel wool, and, just wow. I can feel your stoke on this one right through the TV! Congratulations on this find. It's absolutely fantastic! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
Matt, the is an EPIC FIND .. wish that right hand tank did not have the dent , but no paint is missing , just an amazing find .. my heart wants to ride a 47-50 someday ..
Ok you have sold me I give a 1000 for bike
Keep up the good work for history should not be lost to the sands of time. And amazing finds like this are amazing.

What a beautiful bike. My 1st bike in 1969 was a 52 panhead..Sure miss it.
Hi Matt. First time messaging you. So sorry about dad. I absolutely love what you guys do with these motorcycles. A friend of mine actually came to the museum. He said you were a gentlemen and that it was awesome you took the time to talk to him. I’m gonna get down there one day. I’ll have to come alone. I want to see everything in the museum. Take care my friend. Keep doing what you do.
The smile on your face said it all, beautiful bike👌
Will you have that one at Waseon? Very cool bike!
Wow!!! Thank you so much Matt for sharing. My 2018 Deluxe in Electric blue is its great grandson. Love the bike.
OMG! Sounds fantastic!
It is good to see that Matt has the same passion for motorcycles that his dad did. I Met Dale when I first visited the Wheel's Through Time Museum back in 2007 when I was up from Florida on a week long road trip in the Smokies. While on the tour I told Dale that my dad was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and, while in the Army during WW2, taught motorcycle riding skills to new Army recruits. Upon hearing this Dale immediately took me over to an old WLA on display, started it up and let me sit on it. He even offered to let me ride it but I declined. It was the first time I had ever been to the museum, and I was so impressed with the experience and Dale's generosity I called my dad that night and told him about it and said that I would show him the pictures when I got back home. The next day I got a phone call from my nephew that he passed away that night. I had to cut my vacation short and return home but that trip to the museum led to my having had a great conversation with my father just before he passed. I never got to thank Dale, but I am planning on going back up to the Smokies and visiting the museum later this year. If Matt is there I want to thank him personally for the experience his father enabled me to have with mine! BTW, my dad liked Indians because he said they were faster...
Absolutely loved watching that this bike is amazing
Great lookin Pan,congrats on that deal. Really dig the Hollywood bar that came with it,definitely a great addition to the bike.
Went through this museum Saturday....... all I can say is wow 👌 this place does not disappoint so much history so much to look at you have to make 3 or 4 trips around the museum to see it all and you will still miss things. I was just in aw like a little kid again thanks for trip back in time.
That is ONE Beautiful bike!
I too would drive 4000 miles for that bike! The NOS parts on it remind me of an excellent green 49 in Illinois!
Well you were right Matt, it did fire just like you said,,, flames and all! What a fantastic find! Beautiful bike!!!
what i really love is his rt hand man. he is always respectful to orders and always a move ahead and ready!!they work well together!
"Hope the breaks are as good as the throttle is" . the famous last words....
But looks good. I do shed a tear for all the machines people could of cared better for.
awesome motorcycle , Just for information there's a guy on you tube who fixed dents on tanks without damaging the paint.Love your channel , can't wait to make a trip to your museum.
We may have already fixed it...🙂
My first 74 was built on 50 fl cases and a swing arm and glide front end with a ratchet top trans. Hardly original but all H-D parts. My heart flipped when I saw this!
You make me so jealous. I just love those old Harleys, the knucklehead to the Panhead to the shovel head to the Evo. You're living the dream.
What a beautifull motorcyle!! a real stallion coming too life wow blown away watching you guys doing your magic thanks.
Beautiful original, wow!! No wonder you get excited. Thanks for sharing.
what a dream of a bike. congrats !
I haven't rode a tank shift in about 32 years, I sure miss my road trips Detroit to Sturgis to Riverside ca.
This is the best channel on RUclips, hands down ! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion !
I want to say thank you for bringing the museum to the south , all unique and beautiful collection
beautiful! I wish you would've filmed the purchase/pick up process, like the "What's in the Barn" episodes, only without the manufactured drama from discovery like we talked about in your shop a couple months ago, those would make great RUclips episodes. hope to run into you again next time we're back. Have you gotten a chance to get that PanAmerica out in the dirt yet?
Man killa find . Totally love your enthusiasm Matt. It's truly contagious. Thanks for sharing yet again a magical survivor. You hit the jackpot and 4000 miles is worth it
Awesome Bike 👍😎
A true original survivor.
It looks great just the way it is, but I agree with you that it's one that's deserving of a polish and shine!
It sounds amazing...
June 10th....My dad would be 101 years old today and his love for H-D lives through me. He rode until he was 85.
Loved watching the rebirth of this awesome machine. Matt, like 47MasoN47 said; you are a kid in a candy store when it comes to digging for parts. On another note. I really enjoyed talking with you on Memorial Day when I visited the museum. It was my 5th visit and I still found new things to see and marvel over. Thanks for keeping the dream alive.
Absolutely gorgeous bike congratulations on the find.
I've put alot of miles on my Road King after watching your videos. Can't wait til Spring to ride down and visit Wheels Through Time.
Thank you for what your father and you have created.
Found this channel only a couple of days ago and I am obsessed! Watching someone talk about anything with such passion knowledge and enthusiasm is always so entertaining and educational. The fact that it’s all about Harley’s is the icing on the cake. I’m hooked! And what an amazing motorcycle and piece of history here! Great find 👏
Glad your enjoying!
Nice Matt ! You got he best job imaginable well done 👍🏼✌🏼.
Great stuff I can't wait to come see yalls museum
My goodness what an amazing find. Thanks!
Man I love watching you and your team with these old bikes. I have just bought my first vintage Harley, a 46 Knuckle, over 95% original I'm told so I'm watching and learning from guys like you. Thanks for sharing your knowlege. 👍
Great bike, enjoy it!
So cool. I would love to ride an old bike like this original one
Your videos are like watching a history class with much more enthusiasm. Ever since visiting your museum last week, I am glued to your channel to learn more history of your Dad and motorcycles in general. Thank you!
That’s an absolutely beautiful bike! Nice work keeping it running and available for all to see.
Omg!!! Such a beautiful working piece of rolling art. I was so excited when you starting rattling off all the details. That I reminded many times to hear those details over and over. What a great find guys. Love your channel and your passion. Keep it rolling. Be safe. Be happy.
Your videos are amazing !!,.. keep it up Matt 👍👍
Love the fact you keep them original as possible ....
An icon just like Matt! Thank You for Your Passion
Absolutely amazing! My first Harley was a 63 panhead, watching this brought back a lot of memories. Great job Matt and Chris!
Matt, another great video…I can’t wait to get back down there again and see the new stuff! Been down there countless times and every time, I still get as excited as the first…that’s an obvious sign of a kick a** place if you ask me!
Thanks for the support! We'll be ready for you when you get here, and will have some new machines for you to see.
Hi from Sydney Australia. I have watched a lot of your videos and have never said hello but I have to say how much respect I have for your unbelievable knowledge of these bikes. I have nothing but incredible respect for you. Watching your content is an absolute privilege and it is probably my favourite youtube channel with absolutely no kidding there. Well done and thank you for such excellent content.
Thanks for the kind words! Glad your enjoying the channel.
I really love this 1950 Harley Davidson I LOVE Pan Heads !! To see this beauty fire up and roar makes my day!! Nicely done and hope that you enjoy riding it as much as I liked watching you work on this beautiful Harley!!! Again I LOVE PAN HEADS!!
It’s beautiful Matt
“C c c cool” noooo you weren’t excited (your stutter gave you away). What a great find. My heart would be pumping too. The condition is incredible. 👍🏻
You probably already know this, but tank shift was still offered as a factory option until 1979. Most police departments still liked the hand shift foot clutch setup. I have owned several.
I've been watching you since you and yer pops were digging around in barns. Nothing but love for you and what you do!
Thanks for watching! We appreciate your support!!
@@wheelsthroughtime oh yeah I remember you from when you had brown hair and clean shaven. I watched you guys on I think velocity. Then all of a sudden you guys were just gone. I just found your channel from watching bikes and beards. Whe I saw you on there I was like no way! I haven't seen him in years! So if I may ask. What happened to your pops?
My favorite part of watching this channel is Matt's deliberate movements around classic bikes. Everything is just instinct. You can absolutely tell he is a chip off the old block.
And y'all, his excitement is not just for show, he's just as passionate about this stuff in person.
Do yourself a favor and definitely make the museum a stop.
I have to agree. Matt is truly passionate through and through. I met him a couple of times when visiting the museum, and he is an absolute pleasure to talk with. He is so polite and knowledgeable and loves sharing everything he and his father built for all of us to enjoy. There needs to be more people like him on this earth. God bless Matt and his whole family. Great people!
Im not a harley nut but your enthusiasm is infectious and i love the harleys and especially Indians from late 1920s to 1950s. Stunning and far nicer than todays models.
That's a beautiful motorbike Matt. I come from the U.k but i love American cars & motorcycles, probably from watching two many American films and tv series when i was growing up 😊It was a joy to watch you get excited fixing it. keep up the good work.
Your workshop looks exactly like mine.. Except for the freakingly cool bikes, the space - and everything else..
