If you like the theatrics do look at VoicePlay's The Dragonborn Comes from the game Skyrim. Eli Jacobson ("little bald guy") created the backdrops. Bass is Geoff Castellucci who does his own low bass covers One theatrical one of his is Over The Misty Mountains Cold from The Hobbit. Oh and do check out VoicePlay's Oogie Boogie Song. Everything VoicePlay and Geoff do is self produced, from the arrangements right through to the editing, everything escept the final edit which is done professionally. Tim from Home Free and Geoff have an almost identical range of five octaves. Geoff's tone tends to be smoother.
The tenor in greenish colors is Eli (el-ee) and he did the backdrops on Unreal Engines. He also did lights and special effects on Hoist the Colors. The beatbox is Layne, and he arranged/did the video on this one. (Geoff, the bass, did Hoist the Colors). Layne has commented that while they're an incredible amount of work, they see each one of these as an art piece.
Tenor Eli (El-ee), Bass Geoff (Jeff), Beatboxer Layne (Lane), baritone in this video is J.None (Jessie), collab is Jose, the current baritone is Cesar, in older video the black haired baritone is Tony, and the high tenor in older videos is Earl. They are currently looking for a 5th member that’s why they are doing collabs. I hope this helps with future VoicePlay reactions.
Check out Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold (Geoff solo), Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, Halo, Warriors (Imagine Dragons). I expect you would like all of these.
I really enjoyed your reactions to this song and "Hoist The Colours" and am a new subscriber now. Other Voice Play fans on here have given you excellent information and suggestions for reactions to Voice Play and I really look foward to your Voice Play journey. They are a group from Orlando Florida with experience working as performers for Universal and/or Disney World while they attended college in Orlando (Universal and Disney have programs that help talented young performers with college and tuition costs - my talented young cousin works for Disney while she attends college in Orlando). Before college, they had their own little rock group, 42Five, that performed frequently on the streets of Orlando while they were still in high school. Beat Boxer, Layne, and Geoff have been friends and performing together since they were in Jr high school. Voice Play frequently has different guest performers that they have known since high school, college or from working at the theme parks. They are all amazing and if you like gaming and Disney their covers are the best around. They are actually friends with and very supportive to Pentatonix and Home Free and appreciate each others differences and approach to acapella music. Voice Play does all of their own arrangements and production out of their own studio (Pattycake Productions) that they own outside the Orlando area. Geoff Castellucci has his own solo channel that you will definitely want to check out as well. Lots of fans act competitive about which group is better or who hits the lowest bass notes but Geoff and Tim Foust from Home Free are good friends with different techniques and styles that have had about the same voice range ( Geoff is older now and his speaking voice and chest voice is even deeper now with age. I think he may be hitting some insanely lower notes than Tim just within these past two years but I am even more amazed at how well Geoff still hits those very high notes).
Loved your reactions to Hoist the Colours and this My Mother Told Me. And, if you're really THAT nerd-ish, you just MUST check their version of Halo Theme. And please, listen as well to the second half of the video, where the former founder and beat boxer of the group explains the reasons why they did it (I swear I almost cried... It gave the performance such a context). BTW, in that one Geoff hits his lowest recorded note, TWICE: a nice clean B0. :-) And as you seem to like games soundtracks, I'd suggest one of their last videos: The Dragonborn Comes, from Skyrim. Welcome to VoicePlay rabbit hole :-D
Fantastic reaction. Can you react to VoicePlays song. Warrior (imagine Dragons) please its amazing. Layne beatboxes while playing a violin at the same time xx
Range wise, Tim Foust and Geoff Castellucci have basically the same spread. Their sound and techniques are different though. I think it would come down to who was having the better day as to who would win that battle.
I think Goeff have a richer bass that resonate better with headphones. Not taking anything from Tim as they have the same range, but Goeff have a "better" bass while Tim have a cleaner high note.
You absolutely have to see and hear Geoff Castellucci's own stuff, incredibly good 👌👌👌❤️🙏 His appearance and the voice, I have goosebumps all over my body (far over the misty mountains cold, Blackbird, sixteen tons) be sure to check it out 👆👆👆👍👍👍🙌🙌🔝 And by Voiceplay (Oogie Boogie Song) 😄👍👍
Geoff (the bass) was actually inspired by Tim Foust of Home Free when they were on the Sing-Off. He never heard anyone sing sub-harmonic before, and he decided to train himself to do it. He still says Tim's better at it, which is a respect thing, I think, because I'm pretty sure Geoff is now lower than Tim, and he can sing and articulate lyrics that low, which is exponentially harder than just hitting a sustained low note. I could be wrong, someone would need to apply some digital audio analysis to confirm it, but I do think Geoff is now lower. And he sings clean, which is amazing.
Some people waste time trying to figure out which of the 3 a cappella groups is the best. They are each in such a niche that they aren't in competition. I choose to sit back, relax, sip my sweet ice tea and enjoy the bounty they each have to offer. Be thankful for the abundance of great groups to indulge in. H F's "Brothers in Arms" and Voice Play's "The Dragon Born Comes - Skyrim" are both killer, y'all should check them out. Killer bass performances in both.
You mentioned Home Free's bass Tim Foust. I always think it's interesting to compare how the 2 basses sound doing the same song. Misty Mountains by Peter Hollens feat. Tim Foust is the same song as Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold by Geoff Castallucci (or Geoff and the Geofftones, if you will). They're both fabulous and that last note is breath taking.
Geoff (Jeff) and Tim Foust have similar range. Believe both can do the B 0(zero). Geoff usually does it subharmonic where Tim does vocal fry or growl more often. Avi has slightly less deep but still 5 octave and sounds unbelievably smooth and rounded throughout his vocal range, my favorite ❤️
If you want to hear awesome bass & drums please do a reaction video of Voice Plays version of Carry On My Wayward Son. They aren't in any costumes but their performances is out of this world.

Yes!! More, more Voiceplay!!
VoicePlay is a great a cappella group. VoicePlay is the theater kids of a cappella. Loved the reaction. Hope you enjoy the other ones I suggested 🥰

100% VoicePlay's The Dragonborn Comes (Skyrim) and Halo covers!
You guys would definitely dig their dragon born comes video. It's from Skyrim and they do some vocal acrobatics in that one. With costumes, of course!

This was from a video game assassin's Creed and from the show Vikings.
