This is the one that's broken several reactors (one in particular ran from the room, forgetting he only had his boxers on!) Originally, Jose wasn’t supposed to be in this video. It was to be Anthony G. on the high part. Eli had already recorded the second tenor part (which Jose sings here) then Covid raised its ugly head and Anthony couldn’t fly in. Jose was available and quickly learned the second tenor part and Eli switched to the high tenor. That’s why Jose didn’t get the lead part, even though he was ‘featured’. And - of course - Eli was perfect!
You did pretty well! You didn’t pass out, you didn’t fall out of your chair, I’m impressed. It was fun to watch you reach for the keyboard and then stop. Reach for the keyboard and stop. We just know that you wanted to stop it like every five seconds. Whatever they have done is my favorite for a little while, but I always come back to this one. I think in every comment I say the same thing. This is like an opera: storyline, fantastic costumes, beautiful singing. It is so emotional. When you go back to watch it again, which I know you will, watch Layne’s expressions. He looks like an insane man at times. Eli is scary like he would slit your throat. But at times Layne looks absolutely demented. Also note that during the line Fiddlers Green, a green light flashes out to Eli’s side. It’s the only time the light wasn’t either red or blue. They are sticklers for detail. You can’t really tell it , but the Patrons got to see that they had branded themselves (temporarily). They did research and found out that pirates were branded with a P, so they had Rick put a VP on them. You can see Eli’s on his hand, and sometimes you can catch a copy of a glimpse of Geoff’s.
That sound that Lane makes at 7:00? That's the sound of chain shot. Used to disable rigging and sails. Part near miss whistle mixed with ricochet warble, and I have no earthly idea how he made that sound!
There are more verses to the song than are shown during the opening of the film, but you can briefly hear Elizabeth singing a little bit of that later verse in the boat in Singapore. - Your local pirate fangirl. DUDE, you have to do Queen In 5 Minutes. You Will Die! ...in a good way 😂 Especially if you caught Geoff's opt up there towards the end. They need to do more rock covers, I swear.

Glad to see you came through more or less in one piece! I find VoicePlay, even in their more sedate videos, always make you feel you're on a rollercoaster musically and emotionally, keeping things interesting, they rarely sing a verse the same way. I just wanted to say that i have been really enjoying your videos and your reactions are delightful. If you want to see a song that really gives Cesar his moment to shine, its their cover of "I Cant Make You Love Me" its a beautiful and heartrending song for sure.
I don't think there are any original lyrics here, but VP and Geoff have been doing a lot of that lately, and with no surprise, knocking that out of the park as well. Funny enough, Jose was not originally slated for this song. He was a last minute replacement because the original collaborator had to cancel, I believe due to illness. So they asked Jose if he would fill in, but they tweaked the lead for Eli instead since it was last minute for Jose. That's why, as the collaborator in this one, he doesn't take the lead line, though I now can't imagine it any other way; Eli as lead vocals or Jose's participation. Yes, Cesar always puts in 200% in his performances. He actually impressed the guys in his first collab with the group based on his performance skills. He is fantastic and such a sweetheart to boot. I can't wait to see your reaction for the next song they have coming up. I do hope you survive, though, because I enjoy your reactions. 😆

This is one of my favs they've ever done. I especially love Eli's rock voice. Lauren Paley guested in Voiceplay's cover and the Bass Gang's cover of Hide and Seek. They are both a must watch. Same song, but different enough to warrant a watch of both.
It was J-None in My mother told me but Ceasar was in Dragonborn comes. He was the second singer, the one with the elfin ears and bushy hair. He was also in Nothing else matters. There are a few VP tracks that have Deejay Young as a feature artist. I'd suggest doing a poll so your Patreons can pick which one of those bops you get to hear first. Their cover of Butter by BTS is from right before Caesar officially joined the group as a permanent member and it features both him and Deejay and it has some delightful goofs in the background like you saw in The Bass Gang's version of Hooked on a Feeling
So you are clearly becoming quite familiar with who most acapella fans would consider the big 3 in Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voiceplay, and you also said you would add Bass Gang to that group. I would challenge you that there’s one more group you absolutely MUST include called Voctave. They are the most like a traditional choir without backing instruments, but also fantastic in their own way. If you remember Omar Cardona from Voiceplay’s cover of Dream On, his bother EJ, another powerhouse tenor, is in Voctave. A great transitional song to give you some familiarity would be the Disney Love Medley featuring Kirstin Maldonado (from Pentatonix) and her ex fiancé. I could recommend a bunch after that, but it’s a good introduction. 😁

Glad to see you came through more or less in one piece! I find VoicePlay, even in their more sedate videos, always make you feel you're on a rollercoaster musically and emotionally, keeping things interesting, they rarely sing a verse the same way. I just wanted to say that i have been really enjoying your videos and your reactions are delightful. If you want to see a song that really gives Cesar his moment to shine, its their cover of "I Cant Make You Love Me" its a beautiful and heartrending song for sure.
I don't think there are any original lyrics here, but VP and Geoff have been doing a lot of that lately, and with no surprise, knocking that out of the park as well.
Funny enough, Jose was not originally slated for this song. He was a last minute replacement because the original collaborator had to cancel, I believe due to illness. So they asked Jose if he would fill in, but they tweaked the lead for Eli instead since it was last minute for Jose. That's why, as the collaborator in this one, he doesn't take the lead line, though I now can't imagine it any other way; Eli as lead vocals or Jose's participation.
Yes, Cesar always puts in 200% in his performances. He actually impressed the guys in his first collab with the group based on his performance skills. He is fantastic and such a sweetheart to boot.

So glad you are as gobsmacked as we all are. I am a VoicePlayer first then a HomeFry and Pentaholic. They are all good, but what I love is that VP is pushing them all to be more creative and the arrangements are complex and showcases their talent so well. VIP VIP VIP Ceasar!!!!!
This is one of my favs they've ever done. I especially love Eli's rock voice. Lauren Paley guested in Voiceplay's cover and the Bass Gang's cover of Hide and Seek. They are both a must watch. Same song, but different enough to warrant a watch of both.
It was J-None in My mother told me but Ceasar was in Dragonborn comes. He was the second singer, the one with the elfin ears and bushy hair. He was also in Nothing else matters. I cannot wait to watch you react to them singing I can't make you love me. But I'll settle for Queen in 5 minutes...that will blow your mind with what Geoff does. It was my first VoicePlay after seeing Geoff do the Monster Mash. I haven't been the same since. Oh and in Dec and again in January, I heard VoicePlay played on the store's audio in Walmart in Quincy, FL.

There are a few VP tracks that have Deejay Young as a feature artist. I'd suggest doing a poll so your Patreons can pick which one of those bops you get to hear first. Their cover of Butter by BTS is from right before Caesar officially joined the group as a permanent member and it features both him and Deejay and it has some delightful goofs in the background like you saw in The Bass Gang's version of Hooked on a Feeling
So you are clearly becoming quite familiar with who most acapella fans would consider the big 3 in Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voiceplay, and you also said you would add Bass Gang to that group. I would challenge you that there’s one more group you absolutely MUST include called Voctave. They are the most like a traditional choir without backing instruments, but also fantastic in their own way. If you remember Omar Cardona from Voiceplay’s cover of Dream On, his bother EJ, another powerhouse tenor, is in Voctave.
A great transitional song to give you some familiarity would be the Disney Love Medley featuring Kirstin Maldonado (from Pentatonix) and her ex fiancé. I could recommend a bunch after that, but it’s a good introduction. 😁
