If this isn't played at my funeral, I'm not dying.
omg. LOL. I agree. I never served, but I love this song, movie and immense appreciation for those who did serve, two of my uncles, one of which died at 18 years old, WWII.
I never thought of it as that type of music but I guess it would be appropriate for a lot of people.
Same here! Unfortunately the story of my life!
Love it!
If that's your funeral song then you are already dead and buried.
Hee Hee.
I remember the first time I watched Kelley’s Heroes. This song stuck in my mind. To this day it is a welcomed friend.
my Mom died and my older brother was the only survivor of a car accident...in 1964...tried to keep it together...in 1966..quit college and joined the Marines..
served a tour in Vietnam...the proudest days of my life..
there is not a single person on this planet that this song doesnt apply to...we live and learn, hopefully
100% correct!
U are so correct, this song brings tears , wish i could have changed things
Y por lo tanto, Sicut locutus est,... Carpe diem, viviendo y aprehendiendo, con h intercalada
Its my anthem, for sure.
Indeed you are so correct
The greatest song about regret.....ever. I suppose we all appreciate this more as we get older.
Great song, but not number one for regret, that goes to Yesterday When I Was Young. IMHO. m.ruclips.net/video/N47cdd9zSZE/видео.html
I know everytime I hear this song...I look back on all the blown opportunities.....
I agree with you .
Yip....So true. Regrets, I had a few....but making up for them now as I groove my way through my fifties.. best time of of my life is still to come. Thank God for this great music....
I'm not sure. I wish I would have burned some bridges earlier.
the harder you listen, the more somber it becomes
That's very true, I didn't think of it that way.
Kelly's Heroes never ages!
Too bad we don't too. But I always feel younger when I watch this movie and even though I'm older now than anyone in this cast (at the time), they still seem older than me, even today.
@@melvinbennett444 so true 👍
Even though World War II to this point is a overrated subject Kelly's Heroes was a great film.
@@CrossOfBayonne ...
@@CrossOfBayonne
World War II may be a “overrated” subject *but the global casualties from that event are underrated.* Otherwise 75 years we wouldn’t still be living in a world with endless hostilities and conflicts.
I am seventy one this song hits home I left the only girl I ever loved to join the army I nearly lost her but I thank God every day she waited 3yrs for me and still the love of my life after 50 years ❤
Extremely rare in this day and age.
You and your wife are an amongst the few who make it.
Thank you I think we all have made decisions we regret thankfully she had more faith in me than I did
50 years later I don't remember much about the movie, but I remember every word of this incredible song.
What a movie, what a cast, and what an unforgettable theme song. Clint, Donald, Rickles and all the gang - they just don't make 'em like that any more!
I so agree!
I got married to my husband, June of 1970, this song came out while he was in Basic Training! I was 16 and he was 19! I lived with his parents, finished and graduated High School! This was my song!
My Dad and I would watch Kelleys Heroes often over the years and this was always my favorite song in the movie. Ever since my Dad died a year ago I can't help but break down each time I hear it. Rest in peace Dad.
I'm sorry to hear that bud, I'll keep you in my prayers
😭
This was one of my father's fav war movies. He was a big fan of Eastwood and all of those westerns. He would always come home and take over the tv after work. The first thing he would say is, " search the channels and find me a Shoot em up. That was his term for A Western.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Will keep you in prayers. I hope you’re doing some better.
@zedvar3806 this movie is the perfect spaghetti western if you think about it.
one of the things I like so much about 70's music is you can understand the words
That's true, but, I thought the song came out in 1968 when the movie came out. I could be wrong.
ProudKansan08 close enough
The movie came out in 1970. Eastwoods next war movie after 'Where Eagles Dare ' which came out in 1968.
....Unless it's Elton John singing. Then you can't understand anything.
@@theeclectic2919 You're right. Some of Elton John's songs I didn't understand a word. For example "Island Girl", "someone saved my life tonight", the bitch is back", and "I feel like a bullet in the gun of Robert Ford". I would make up my own words, but I still like his music.
This song has always reminded me of my son Steven who committed suicide in 2010. He burned all the bridges to the people who tried to help him. R.I.P. Steven. Hope you found peace in Heaven that escaped you here on Earth!
Always stay strong one day you will find his spirit again when you least expect it
💔😭💔😭💔
I wish there was a care button because I don't feel right "liking" this, my heart breaks for you so much and also for your precious son Steven. The pain of a mother who has lost a child is brutally deep and life will never be the same. God bless you and your son. x
R.I.P Steven 😞
Sometimes we don't mean to burn those bridges.
This song is an integral part of the movie Kelly’s Heros.... it’s uplifting, its relevant and makes the movie a brilliant piece of pure Hollywood... every actor from Telly Savalas , Clint Eastwood, Don Rickles, Donald Sutherland and the others were just perfect for the role.. inspired casting, a brilliant script, great action and humour and one of the most enjoyable war films ever...
Totally agree. First came across it in about 1971/72 when i was at infants school. My cousin had been to see it at the cinema and had bought the soundtrack on vinyl. ' Burning Bridges ' is still my favourite movie theme even after all these years.
Amen. Couldn't have said it better!
I love the positive waves from you guys!
My dad had this song recorded on cassettes when I was a child and I heard it all of the time. I hadn't seen Kelly's Heroes until about a year ago, when this song came on in the movie I cried probably the hardest I had ever cried. It was like a fourth wall broke and he gave me one last message. Such a good film, even better memory.
This is my father’s favorite song of all time. When I was a kid, like 7 or 8, my old man would blast this song right before practice, every time. Getting older, now this is my all time favorite song because of the memories my father shared with me. I’d do anything just to go back and relive those moments. I love my father
Jake, what a nice sentiment--your father is, or must have been, a very special person. Cheers, my friend.
The movie itself is a classic. For those of you who have never seen it, either rent or buy a copy you will love it.
agree.
ElectronicsTech09 I have seen Kelly's Heroes 4 times, great picture with some humor in it done by Donald Southerland who plays a Odd Ball with his Wook Woof & some by The late Telly Savalas.
I found bought my copy 5 years ago. Great movie with a all star case. Got to love humor cause it not your average war movie.
"To a New Yorker like you A hero is some kinda weird Sandwich.." lol
It is, I go dig it out and rewatch it every year or so.
Interesting point: the 'Tiger' tank is actually a mock-up based on a Russian T-34 variant, possibly a T-34-85. The Tiger turret is almost central on the hull, the T-34 turret is at the front. Also the Tiger had interleaved idler wheels (extra side armour) between the tracks rather than the spaced wheels that the Russians used.
This song is dedicated to my beloved grand daughter with heart felt hope that someday she will understand the damage she has done to herself by rejecting her family! Our hearts have been shattered and these lyrics fit so perfect!
I hope things are better!
so many bridges we all burned when we were young and stupid but thought we knew everything.living long enough to remember when we were young and stupid is both a blessing and a curse.
I think most of us can say that this was me once or twice.
Loads of people are dickheads dont worry about it
What a fabulous thought provoking song . Absolutely love it
this song takes your soul to a place that will make you remember things that are hidden in side of you
I'm with you on that note
Frank Alegria, you couldn't have said it any better.
Well said..count me in.
I love this song, but the older I get, the more I realize that it is so incredibly sad.
Because it turns out the lyrics of this song are spot on. At least it is for me.
Lyrics are about life. Just gotta open another door after you burn that bridge and keep ahead of the flames. :)
I rarely burn my bridges but I have dynamited a couple of them below the waterline.
The best song about regret ever done. The older I get the more I relate....though I do try and avoid "negative waves".
There´s no "negative waves" about this song !! Woof woof "
I'm 73 years old and this song sums up my life everytime I hear it I cry
I'm 66 year old veteran 71-76 one of my favorite I remember when it came out spent my Saturdays at the movies before I went into the army war was not as fun as this movie one of the greats of al time never gets old
Amen brother, Amen
73 and I so agree with you.. If only...
What a beautiful song and what a talented group!
Way back in the 70’s I went off to fight a war I was not part of. Friends all warned me not to go. This was the song I had asked to be played at my funeral. It’s the story of my life. Fifty odd years later it still is the song I love to hear. Maybe for the memories
Ahh but you were a part of. The most important and precious part of. A participant. You fought or were in the rear supporting the fight for someone else's freedom. As usual for Americans.
Maybe they will play this and Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum.
Just love this song, I'm just a sentimental old fool, cry my eyes out each time I hear it.
Why not.
Me to don't feel bad
You're not the only one.
May the burning bridges behind me, light my way.
In 1975 I was 6 years old & in the 70s in New Zealand there was a Christian health camp based in Pakuranga Auckland this camp was set up for under nourished children..my brother who was 3 years older than me & my self were sent.to that camp for 6 months to nuture & grow healthy.this song burning bridges was more like the anthem song at that camp & was sung everytime we children from the camp got togeather & had singing in the hall..every time we had singing in the hall this girl her name was Majorie always use to sit on the floor beside me & hold my hand if not she use to lean her head on my back everytime we sang this song & every other song from the 70s but this song burning bridges takes me back on that journey..it is 26.1.23.& im 54 years old now crying to this song taking me back to the innocent little boy I was with that angel of a girl called Majorie who always sat at my side & hugged me like a little brother each & everytime we had music..I know now the lord God sent her caring loving heart to watch over & look after me while my brother & I attended that Christian health camp..& I think she was 8 or 9 years old at that time..I hope she reads this because I am trying to find her & makes me cry more because I never got to say goodbye to her when my brother & I left that camp..Majorie Bridges lost forever more ❤😢😢😢❤️
One of the most poignant songs ever written. I loved it when the movie came out, dubbed it off the VHS video when it came out. In 1970 I was 13 and an aspiring rock musician, now I'm 61, and fortunately I haven't burned as many bridges as the character in the song, but I've known an awful lot of people, especially my now deceased alcoholic brother, who did nothing but burn every bridge they ever had
This song is such a classic. I never get tired of hearing it.
me too
kystars - I agree. Use to love hearing it on the radio. Got up to #14 in LA in February 1971. It really is a classic.
Me, either. Its on my, "Never Get Tired Of" list of songs.
At 8 years old I had a 45 copy of this record and I used to play it over and over and drive my mom crazy. Lok
Beautiful people with beautiful voices! Ah, those were the days...!
This song has been in my head since I was a child.
It's not going anywhere anytime ever.
This was my DAd's favorite movie of Clint Eastwood every time it would air we would sit and watch it together A few years before he passed away in 1998 I found a copy on DVD bought it and gave it to my Dad so we could watch this movie together anytime Now I watch the Kelly's Heroes a few times a year with tears in my eyes thinking of my dad
It's wonderful that you have such fond memories of watching this movie with your father.
This is also my favorite Clint Eastwood movie . He made some good ones but Kelly's Heroes will always be the best one ever.
It was summer of 70......I and two friends were riding around and I got a speeding ticket.....I didn't want to go and tell my parents yet...so I and my buddies went to see this movie....:Kelly's Heroes....loved it ever since....
Just got out of rehab and had done everything the song spoke of and burned every bridge and didn't care I'm much wiser now I love this song and it sounds so patriotic it burns in my soul forever
Never ever, ever, EVER,look back or quit, NEVER!
At my funeral I want my family and friends to dance to this song. Beware their souls they don't.
Timeless, this song is as meaningful and poignant as it was when it came out in '71... great song Mike Curb Congregation!!
I've been addicted to this song since seeing in the theater with my Dad and two sisters in 1970. Great harmonizing! Dad and I went to see war flicks all of the time, but this was the only one where the girls joined us - they loved it.
Sometimes I can't believe my luck to be a teenager in the mid to late 60s. So much great music and other things,
I dedicate this record to my Uncle Jack, who always warned me not to burn my bridges: "One day, you'll find yourself on one side of the river, and what you need will be on the other side."
My aunt said neer the same thing to me when I was 11 ish, I didn't listen, or understand at first, but wolf wolf movie em out ahhloloiwaa! You
Life is full of regrets missed opportunities and guilt for things we did and didn't do. Many have let those we loved walk away or we left them. The curse of life is that we don't regret what we have done until we realise there is no turning back and no second chance such is life.
Just love this song, kudos to Kellys Heroes and Mike Curb Congregation. May God Bless.
For all those times when you need 60 feet of bridge and you have to call Uncle Leo to get it.
"They haven't got you back in the nutward, have they?"
😂😂😂
And you need 100 men
I watched Kelly's heroes when I was kid and I still love it when I listen to this song
Beautiful and touching classic.
First heard this as a young lad watching the movie and now at 54 it’s still my favorite song ever.
What a classic!
This reminds me of the Army, I burned and those memories.
20 yrs later this still hits me in the gut.
How badly I wish I HAD listened to my friends 😢 😔 😞 😪
Kelly's Heroes. Great movie.
Super great song! This was the last of the last great stuff on the radio before society as a whole went to heck in a handbag. As each year went by, each decade came, it all got worse and worse.
I was lucky and privileged to be born in 1947 and grow up with beautiful music and movies ...
this is so 1970... took exactly 30 seconds to go back to 3rd grade and sister in 7th...her song and my memory.
86 ppl still carryin "too much negativity baby"
I loved this Movie...will never forget it. I was with wonderful girl that I was in love with. Great film with great actors and music. Wish I could go back to the early 70's
Only if eh?
Loved this song ever since i was a child. Now I'm 28 and the lyrics ring true more than ever. Burnt so many bridges and neglected so many people that just wanted to be my friend. Not feeling sorry for myself but man did I fuck my life up.
Here again we have, there's so many we lost,we got to keep remembering those..My brother was in Vietnam war,he came back but lost some..not there but came home, too many memories that took his life..pray for all there and ones who came back.
AN ADDICTIVE TUNE AND A FANTASTIC MOVIE!!!!!!!
I heard this song in Vietnam. It still makes me tear up.
Glad you came back from Vietnam listening to it reminds me of all the soldiers who put their life on the line to protect their country are treated like criminals when they come home I know my family were all Defence Force my son is Australian Army I have the most utmost respect for those who sacrifice their life to save ours I tried to join the Army passed everything but failed the medical
Thank you to my ex husband and his friend. Forever more this song means more to me than they can ever know....
Love this song and the movie....
GREAT SONG, GREAT MOVIE
I love this song. Beautiful.
Mike Curb was one GREAT Leader as He assembled a Very Wonderful Choir of BEAUTIFUL PERSONS who sing so well they Fill me... of Heavenly Vision!
Man there was some great music back in the 70's. I feel fortunate to have grown up then.
I remember listening to this at school in the 70s the radio station had request on at night this song was the most requested song each night I loved it then watch the movie few years ago still love the song glad I grew up in the 70s best teenage years ever Happy New Year from me to you
The best movie lyrics ever to go along with a great movie, one of Eastwood best.
A great song which will go on forever.
Still here and listening 4/3/2021 my Dad's favorite movie R.I.P
Me too
song gives me goose bumps. Great memories
I’m watching the movie now never gets old know matter how many times you’ve seen it
True that👍✌
Agree!!!
Watching it this afternoon.
Gone get old then we gone lose Clint Eastwood
I just drive 'em, don't know what makes 'em work Woof Woof
Fifty feet of bridge...I can pick that up almost anywhere.
Woof Woof.
That's my other dog imitation.
This is still one of my all-time favorite songs. (& movie's too!) I can listen to M.C.C. ALL DAY! Awesome Harmony's!!!
No one sings like this anymore.
Music in 2018 is CRAP!
Play it again Mike...
Just watched this for the first time last night with my hubby. Crazy movie. Loved Sutherland... oh my. I remember this song from my childhood. I was a 70's girl.
Who didnt love Oddball
I saw it when it came out....I still cry...I thought that it was the best song to ever come across my life , because it moved everyone. That is the secret to life.....EVERYONE must be involved. If I was the only person that liked it then I would feel out and awkward... Therefore...again I say...other people matter...Imagine watching it alone....SEE ....that's what I mean.... that will be too lonely and no-one to confirm what you like and make you smile ..!Togetherness is the only thing in the world that makes us feel whole......TRUE.
Calvin here? Never a Truer word poken (Sandra) A Banging Tune. Hey!
Sondra Weidman We were lucky in Snowy Buffalo, NY 10 years of concerts 4 every summer in 70s at Bills Stadium. Rolling Stones played here 6 times. That 1977 Blizzard gave Buffalo a bad reputation. It was a bad storm, winds 80mph 19 feet of snow, City & Schools closed for 3 weeks, People were calling us Snow Capital of USA. Buffalo does get a lot of snow, even now we still average 10 feet from Lake Erie. Some years it snows in March, ruins ST PATS Parade. At least Coast Guard keeps people safe from the Lake. Buffalo is a party city bars open till 4am, Lots of Irish & Polish folks here. Its cool Niagara Falls is a 30 minute drive & having Canada as a neighbor.
Wolf wolf! That's my dog call, all those negative waves baby! 😂 good movie
If you don’t like this song, don’t hit me with those negative waves man
I saw the movie well over 30 years ago when I was in my late teens. LOVED this song from the movie from the first time I heard it!! Thanks for posting this!! :)
My Mom took my brother and me to see this movie at a drive-in when were 7 and 9 years old, I remember it very clearly, and presently at age 57 the lyrics to this song relates to my life, unfortunately...., anyway, watch this movie if you have never experienced it.
I miss drive ins!
Just one of the best films ever and this song made it so memorable.
Great movie, seen it over a dozen times. Never gets old.
The words in the chorus, are a painful reminder of the opportunities you cannot allow to slip away, lest you be the one singing this song.
I grew up with this movie. And oh my fucking god the chills this song gives..
Dothurnaax When I listen to this it takes me back to my youth, such happy times and not a care in the world !! Great movie as well😁😁
Dothurnaax ,stop blaspheming
Great song. Great movie.
apparently not keeping you from communicating as a dunce...disrespectful to religious people and English language speakers
For Dothurnax: Using the vile and hated "F"word in

going to win you

Love this song. It's my favorite track from this movie. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
Best film ever! Great lyrics!
This song came from a time when they wrote and produced real some/music, long live that great time.
you are lucky all of the crap that hit, during this period the air has fallen away
A great movie and song from 'the day' thumbs up all the way.
My all time favorite movie with a great theme song. Can listen to this all day !
Brings back the days of my youth. Boy I love those ladies hair styles then.
What a song. Speechless.
Regards from South Africa 🇿🇦
GOBBLESS
"The bridge is still up, no it ain't."
"Have a little faith Crap Game these are beautiful people."
Great Song. Really hits home for me. I'm living half a continent away from where I grew up. Lately I've been wondering how the hell I got here, & what the hell I'm doing.
It's existing, NOT living.
But the last time I went "home", I felt like a stranger in a foreign land. It's not my home anymore, but neither is where I'm living today. I feel Lost. What this song means to me is; the World has changed, & NOT for the better.
This song is fantastic!!
Home is wherever you end up when you stop running from yourself
Hope you find peace.
I know the feeling.
Hey Beam me up. Exactly how I feel. So maybe its not uncommon with our culture.
Went to see this movie on a whim.....became one of my all time favorites.....
I just watched this movie tonight again, for the umpteen time. Still one of my favs. They don't make'm like that anymore. Great song, too!
“We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.”
What a song, and what a film! Everything about this film is just right, the actors, the acting, the storyline, and the incredible song to go with it all! I give this film one hundred percent! Fantastic!
Beautiful song with so many memories
I love this song. Watching Kelly's Heroes right now and wanting to download this song on my iTunes
Best song! I know a few people who should listen to this tune.
Margaritaville
I stumbled upon this from a site called forgotten songs, and even tho i can't remember how many decades ago i last heard it, i immediately remembered it. It's one of those very rare songs ( think cat stevens) ,dat are so profoundly good on several levels dat it stays with u 4ever after the first time u heaar it. The excrement dat passes for music today is pure noise. Every generation since 1950 has degenerated, exponentially,in morals and intelligence until wot us reflected in present society. Interesting dat this is called generation z-- the last one in the alphabet, and timed perfectly with The Second Coming. No, life is not too short nor too long--God does not make mistakes.
Top Gear! Fantastic show, good to hear this song again, love Kelly's Heroes, saw it at the pictures when i was a kid, still love it today
This has always been such a strong, insightful song. One of my favourites.
Grew up watching this movie!! Brings back so many memories of those times.. :)
Look at the great mix of singer's it gives me hope for a more tollerent world👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Heard this song for the first time on a radio station in St. Augustine about 2 months ago. Probably listened to it 100 times since then.
Well, it's Veteran's Day and Kelly's Heroes is on right now. Great movie and music!
