Your giddiness whenever an aristocrats piece enters the landscape always makes me smile
Dev is the Aristo-dad. I attribute my love of orzhov to that man.
I love that the Landscapes are the perfect backwards mirror of the Triomes. Untapped + produces colorless, fetches the basics, and cycles for the colors specifically. Exactly the opposite of a tri-land with the types and generic cycling costs while also bring complementary.
the triome cycle is finished. they just didn't call the 2nd set of 5 triomes
Solar Transformer is a near auto-include for any deck relying on mana-rocks. No energy theme required. It's another riff on "Sphere of the Suns" (three charge counters) and "Noble's Purse" (three coin counters, makes treasures) which have the issue of not being able to make mana anymore once those three counters are depleted. Solar Transformers still makes colorless mana, no matter your energy situation.
In energy decks it's like the first card your put in obviously.
a throne of angel wings? that's so metal.
Aw damn I didn't know the lands said basic :( I was SOOOOO hyped for them thinking I could grab any land with the name on them. They're still pretty solid especially in specific decks like a Korvold or something but still 😢 a little less powerful than I thought.
Another instant include in my Runadi, Behemoth Caller monoG Eldrazitron commander deck in Territory Culler. I run all the nonbasic land tutors (Tempt with Didcovery) and land replacement effects (Crop Rotation) to get the tron lands so it just works well with that.
Shilgengar looks like a secret Angel commander.
Play lots of angels, self mill, blood tokens, and this guy just become an alpha strike
Super excited for the untapped rare, keep them coming! 🎉🃏
I like the whale🐋 especially when you cast it on say turn four plus a cantrip then put a counter on it and your Planeswalker.
Ah yes, 1998. My Spirit of the Night combo deck was bonkers. 😂
19:07 this guy with Rudolf, the angel vampire.... I have an idea.
Def happy about “Arena of Glory”. Excited to play it soon.
I usually watch your previews but haven’t watched these. About to bounce as it is but I am sure you are spot on in your assessments. You usually are.
monstrous vortex is even better when you realize you can chain it. if you discover into another creature with power 5 or greater it will trigger again.
Chicken looks a lot like my cat, Stormy...named after a storm trooper. I find myself desiring to pet the cat during your vids. 😻
I was excited for Gengar just because I thought it was the first Angel Tribal commander that actually cares about Angels, but apparently there are some other legendaries from the past couple years I missed that care about angels.
Gengar is still the first one that has black in it, though, which feels appropriate for angels to me somehow.
Chicken is such a diva.... instantly went "PEACE"!
Shilengar even more of a flavor win since it's the demon Edgar Markov worked with to make Innistrad's vampires. The experimentation which caused Sorin to spark - as we see in the set as well. Now if Shilengar only gave you the life to flip Sorin it would be a 100% win but, as is, still much better flavor than most.
hell yeah more sbmtg
Looking forward to pre-release already.
Branching evolution is a reprint btw 🤓
reprinted in the last ixalan too iirc.
6:30 This card is bonkers in red black
I wonder if we'll see a resurgence in Aetherworks Marvel decks given all the new energy counter cards
the unexpected jeb bush reference
Please do the full set rating brother. I dig it.
On arena of glory, if you spend each red on a different creature they both gain haste
Metastatic Evangel includes ALL nontoken creatures including the opponents.
Dev I want the full set rating video for sure! Please :D
You my spirit animal dev
ugh... ok, I guess I am going to have to put an Energy deck together now that Solar Transformer is a thing. That is the final straw for me.
Speed speed speed
If I'm not mistaken Monstrous Vortex comboes with Death's Shadow or Phyrexian Dreadnought to cast suspend cards if you're not running any other mana value 1 spells.
So bunch of tutors for that one copy of Death's Shadow cast it with Vortex out. Lose the game because there aren't really any suspend cards that do anything powerful enough to warrant spending mana and cards on Vortex, Tutors and Shadow.
I only play commander with mobdrak
Chicken is beautiful
You are pretty hard judger on cards but I love your analysis
For modern, where the game lasts 3 turns, yes. Actually, pioneer is basically a 3-turn game as well and even many standard games end that quickly. Same with cEDH. Kind of makes me sad that magic has devolved into a 3-turn game for most competitive formats.
Is umbra armor the new term for totem armor?
Yes, like Kindred is the new term for Tribal.
Dev! You on IG? Where are you based out of? #notastalker 😂
