This makes me feel less alone. When I was in 3rd/4th grade, I watched a video about a girl that had a allergic reaction and died. This triggered awful anxiety to the point where I wasn’t really eating, since I was scared to have a allergic reaction. My mom took me to to a therapist to see what was going on. I eventually said what was wrong and was diagnosed with a anxiety based feeding disorder. I’m a lot better now but I still avoid nuts/peanuts, seafood, new foods, and new medicines. And I’m actually not allergic to anything that we know of, but my anxiety just won’t let me fully realize that.

this is the exact same for me, like almost exact same story. Nobody understands it and it’s been happening for 7 years. It’s been so stressful and idk how to overcome it.

same here, it's horrible. i think i am allergic to peanuts in some way at least because the last time i had a peanut butter sandwich 3 years ago i developed an itch in my throat. from then i became terrorised by trying foods i hadn't eaten in a while and cut out all nuts, seafood, some fruit and freak out over new medications. i'm just happy we aren't alone 😭

Anaphylactic food allergies my whole life. As I got older, I developed full blown phobias of my allergens. Crying, hyperventilating, dissociating...finally got diagnosed with PTSD at 18 from recurrent ana. I never even thought you could have PTSD from something like a medical condition but hey, the more you know.

Been living with the same thing for about 5 years or so now, it totally takes control of your life. I'm glad to see it's an actual thing so I know what I have- spent so long as a preteen scared and confused as to why I was going through all of this. Went to several doctors and did allergy tests but it never settled my mind, anxiety just takes over and controls you no matter how irrational it may be.
I stopped eating and lost so much weight and became unwell, things are a bit better now but I often have relapses where I'm terrified of eating certain foods again.
Hope those who are going through this keep going strong, everything's going to be alright x we'll get through this. I will say speaking to a therapist about it helped so much, it was a slow progress but it was worth it.

Hello! I was tested with tree nut allgeries when I was 2 years old. I do not know anything but this allergy. I have anaphylactic reaction. Its difficult to live with food allergies because no one understands the seriousness until they witness it. It's scary because we can really die from it.
You are amazing and I'm here if you were need to talk. You are not alone ♡

What tests did they perform on you? I want to know so they figure out as I have been trouble breathing.

Do you mind me asking what type of allergy testing you had done? I'm in the process of dealing with the same situation. Hope you're doing well!

Hi, sorry if this is late, hope Ur doing ok!
I've had this fear of eating/drinking for 5 or so years now, and totally understand your fears and anxieties. It's such a difficult thing to go through, having a phobia around food is so hard because eating is so important and you can't avoid it.
My advice is to try and get therapy and speak to someone, unloading your worries and having someone rationalise your anxiety has helped me rationalise my anxiety better and create strategies to calm down around food. It feels like an ongoing battle, but it gets better little by little. I thought all was lost for me, but after time of having courage eating very gentle foods I built up safe foods which has helped.
Sincerely hope the best for you and stay safe x you're not alone in this
