Minotaurs, monsters and mysteries! It's time to whip up a dungeon tileset!
Per request, we're delving into Pyxel Edit's 'Tileset' feature to create a retro, top-down style dungeon from scratch! We'll talk about the methods, tips and tricks to getting your level looking sharp, and some things to think about when designing your levels. Using a simple palette and only a few tiles, you can create a great looking tileset for your own game!
Follow along, and let me know what you'd like to see next in the comments!

this is the first video of yours i just watched. may i just say, the production quality you put in your videos is through the roof... how are you not 500k subs yet...
Thanks, Rexel, that’s very kind of you! I wish I could post more often but life has just been getting in the way this year!
I agree with that.
Was very instructive for me. Well explained without getting bored. THX
Excellent tutorial. Cannot wait to make my own tilesets.
That was very helpful, thanks.
Nice. I recently made a top down tilemap for a space station for my devlog video 👍❤
looks really nice, creating the tile part looks like a lot of fun (when you show how to) :D
Haha, yeah it did take a while to get to the actual 'creating' part, didn't it ... if I hadn't explained the tile system it would have been speedier. ^^ Thanks for your patience!
hola, haces trabajos maravillosos. Me encanta tu canal.
why people are so concerned about how many subs or views? we dont do this videos for fame but rather to help others.
ah yes thanks for the videos! awesome work
¿puedes traernos tiles estilo castlevania Symphony of the night?
es decir para plataformas 2d bastante detallado.
Good video, thank you! 😀
Sir how do you not have more subscribers? Great Work!
Thanks, Devyn! 🙌🏼
Sehr gutes Video. Sehr informativ.
Even after 2+ years still a great video. May i ask for the name of the used palette?
Very nice tileset! I am still trying to make my own for a roguelike im trying to make, but im not getting it look natural :(
This was super helpful, thanks!
No problem, thanks for watching! ^^ (And sorry for the late reply!)
Nice german video description you got there :D
Is it worth attempting this in 16x16 tile or is there a different method, this is the only video I can find for making tiles like this.
Yeah, I don't see why it wouldn't work at 16x16. :) It will be a challenge, but a lot of older games worked at that res. Let me know how you go! :)
i love it
Thank you! Great to hear. I'll be doing more videos like this soon. ^^
You wouldn't happen to have the finished file somewhere?
Who doesn't like a good dungeon? Also you should try to do a swamp themed thing!
Thanks! Yeah swamp stuff would be cool! ^^
Hello Ryan. I noticed the software is PyxelEdit but the title says Pixorama?
Hi JimZip! I love your work! I've been wondering if you do commissions?
I tried sending you an email but it couldnt reach. Would love to have your art in my game!
Hi Enio. Thanks for the kind words and your interest. Unfortunately I can't take commissions at the moment due to a lot on my plate, but I can recommend a couple of artists I love, who might be taking them at the moment. twitter.com/Namatnieks, twitter.com/NostalgiaTree, and twitter.com/carnikiss. Check out their styles (all different) and try giving them a tweet!

POV you watch the tuto, then you make some tiles and when you compare them to his ones, you see that yours are as creepy than the monster in Fear & Hunger...
😆
I need references
Cool tutorial. Hm, you kinda look like deadpool, don't ya? : o (how often ppl ask this?^^)
lol! Yeah now and then peeps do say I‘m a bit Ryan Reynolds-looking. I’ll take it! 😂
Oh sorry thought this was a tutorial on Pixelorama, my bad.
