Hi Craig, thank you so much for your very clear video. I care for non verbal child at school. I use speech with signs ( the Makaton signs are clear, non dramatic, non scene making) hoping we can both use Makaton leading to greater understanding. Thank you so very much 🥇🏆
Thank you. Thank you. Absolutely perfect for me. I have tried to learn some Makaton from books and leaflets, but it is not easy and books are expensive. I have tried RUclips and Singing Hands DVDs, which are brilliant, but too fast for me. I am 72 years old and I need to learn individual words at a speed I can process. Seeing the word hearing the sounds and seeing the action together is what I need. Hopefully I can talk to my grandchild a bit better now.
What a lovely comment. I'm very happy the videos help you and your family. It all came out if wanting to talk to my son. Then I recorded myself for reference. Then I notice some many people watched and git in touch like you. So I created more.
As soon as I saw your tee shirt, I knew I would be “On my way” to learning Makaton, my wife and myself have mentioned learning Makaton signing for a good while now, hence my You Tube search this morning. Once I saw your shirt, you were the right person for us to learn from. KTF.
Thank you for this! I'm studying to become a Psychologist and this is a great place to start with Makaton. It also warms my heart to learn from another Northerner :) the vibe is just unmatched.
Your super welcome. My son used to come home from nursery with sign and I wondered what he meant. That lead to me understanding Makaton. I wish you all the best in your communication with your daughter.
WE used to use makaton a lot in my house because my younger sister has downs syndrome but in the past few months we've been out of touch with it and sometimes we just can't understand what she's trying to say so thank you for this video, I'm going to watch it with her as soon as possible
Thank you very much. Trying to learn Makaton by reading pdf files are sometimes quite confusing. This clearly shows the basic words that I need to learn and teach my young one.
I recently attended a Summer job that I look after children between the ages 2-19 who have disabilities or are needed special care and some of them are non-verbal, in which they know makaton, so that's why I'm here to learn. Thank you.
Thank you! I've just started dating a deaf girl and I really want to show her that she's not a fad or a curiosity and that I'm serious with her. Learning some sign will really help us in the long term being able to communicate with each other
Thank you my son has a language delay and I am trying to learn very quickly to help him communicate he is learning at school and picking up very quickly and I’m trying to keep up. ❤ thank you so much for this
I have just recently started working with a child who is using some Makaton and have decided to practice through the half term in order to improve my usage. Many thanks for this video, can't wait to look at the others. I have all the paperwork for all the stages and have previously attended an in house workshop at my school but seeing it performed is so much better. I can see this being a resource that I come back to time and time again. Many many thanks. Hoping you continue to provide resources.
It's a year ago so you may not comment. However, I would like to say thank you so much for this video, specifically to the chap in the video. Around a year ago I rage quit my old job (insurance) and decided to become a care worker with not a clue what this would involve. I signed up to an agency, and pretty quickly got placed in a home with none~verbal autistic adults. I flapped, with no clue what was expected of me, and decided I needed to learn Makaton double quick. I studied this video over and over, then a week later realised that they just make their own signs up lol. BUT, your video gave me the confidence to stick with it and learn what the guys are trying to tell me. With your groundwork, I get it. Thank you ;)
Mark, Your welcome. I am the chap in the video and I know first hand how much it takes to learn something quickly. You have to remember that for all there is a whole language program up for grabs. Most people you will communicate with are unable to learn their signs in that way. This is where you step in sir. Learn the language and adapt at moments notice. The people will thank you without saying. Best of luck in your adventures! Ps- I'm always listening. Watching. Unfortunately the content is no more for reasons I'm unable to disclose
This is helpful. I’m trying to learn makaton for myself as I’m mute, and also my uncle has downsyndrome and used makaton as he can’t speak so I want to learn it for both me and him
Just been told by the speech and language therapist I and my family need to learn makaton for my non verbal 2.5 year old. Was feeling nervous but this video is very simple thank you so much this has helped a lot.
Thanks for all your videos - im currently learning makaton for my kids music videos and your videos are helping me learn quickly. Alot to learn in one video, absolutely perfect. Thanks 💛🐻

thank you my friend, i found this video very good to study and surprisingly i seem to be remembering them naturally, i believe this is because of the way you teach. thank you again
Thank you for making this series, it's just the kind of introduction to vocabulary I need. It was never going to be easy for you dealing with feedback from the RUclips community on your first video (thanks also for not deleting that BTW), but I am so glad you stuck with it. Also I love your accent, you come across as really genuine and likeable. xx
