Watched your videos to refresh my memory of makaton (it's been a few years since i used it) ahead of an upcoming job interview at an autism school, found them most helpful, thanks :)
Thankyou so much Craig. Your videos are really clear and helpful. You have helped me to be able to communicate with the children that come along to RDA. xx
Thanks for your videos. I'm currently studying Understanding Autism and only learned about Makaton recently, your explanations have made me feel this is something I could pick up and be very useful in the future.
This video is brilliant, I started learning makaton 3wks ago with my 3yr old son but didn't know how to put sentences together so this has helped so much x
Hi Team noble! I am teaching myself Makaton and am really looking forward to the next video. The sentences are really helpful putting all the words together in context. Thank you :)
Thanks for these wonderful videos. Having recently started as a teaching assistant , I’ve picked up the basics but wanted to learn more. I will definitely keep watching your videos x
Thank you very much, please more video. I just completly level 2, and i want to be a tutor, i preparing myself for level 3 and 4, and your videos help me a lots of practice. Kind regards
Absolutely fantastic I'm really enjoying this class .I have a little neighbour across the road he's only 3 so I want to be able to talk to him. He's a lovely little dude. I'm a 61 year old grandfather and ha Comes of to play with my little one's. So I'm going to try my best to learn You are the man to teach me .Thankyou
@@teamnoble9715 Thankyou for getting back to me .I've noticed some others who are teaching Makaton are doing some singing differently. It's a bit confusing. There's a little 3 years old boy living over the road from me he can hear but not speak. I want to be able to communicate with him. I know he's now attending a school who teaches Makaton. So we are both beginners. Looking to more of your videos. Thankyou for all your help
@@martindoherty8808 my video are exact to the UK Makaton Language System. So you can be reassured. RUclips is a bit of a minefield with regards Makaton and I would be wary of our US counterpart videos as signs differ. All the best with your goals
I love this . Why I didn’t think to do this during lockdown ???! I am so enjoying learning more signs and conversation from you . Many years ago the family were encouraged to learn Makaton to help my nephew communicate . It was so much help but then it was “ could you now try and get him to speak more instead of signing ? “ . He has Down’s syndrome and the frustration of not being able to be understood when he was very young was alleviated when my sister discovered Makaton and since then I have passed on words I’ve learned to sign to friend’s young children who aren’t at the speaking age yet . So much so that my friend’s son, who is now a teenager , still calls me ‘Helen Fish ‘ as they fondly remembered the fish sign I’d taught him when he was a baby .
My son was so frustrated before Makaton. He has many words now but I still love that when he really wants something he breaks out the signs. It really did open doors for us as a family. I'm glad you find the content fun and of use.
Hi Team Noble, thank you very much for producing these first 6 excellent videos on learning Makaton. I have just used them with 30 of my new Trainee Nurse Associate students and we all found your style and content superb! This has given us a valuable insight into using basic Makaton with some patients. If you have the time and demand would it please be possible to do a video on common words and phrases used within hospital and other healthcare environments? Thanks again! All the best, Rich at BTC.
Thank you Team Noble. Your video was helpful and inspiring. I'm looking forward to learning Makaton. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, very much appreciated. :)
My son is 5 had autisim isn't speaking at the moment makaton is the most recent communication system that we have started. Im finding it hugely beneficial to pick up basic signs
Where can I find more videos, this is absolutely fantastic. You’ve made it so much easier to learn. Are there anymore RUclips’s or are you 0:00 on TikTok with more material to learn? I work in A&E and would love to communicate with people who need signing when they come in
I'm late to the boat with your videos, if you are doing more I'd love to learn signs for park and playing games and such. I have very basic makaton knowledge (anything that has stuck from mr tumble really) and I'm trying to find a way to communicate with my non verbal asd child.
I have just subscribed to your channel i am ready to learn, I work with special needs children who use sign language I would love to try and have a conversation with them 😀
Welcome to Team NOBLE. Thank you for your subscription. Be sure to check out all the videos and any help please don't hesitate to comment. The big tip is to talk slowly and clearly and use what signs with a sentence that 1) you can sign and 2) the other person can understand. You will be convetsating in no time at all.
Hello You communicate this very well, I'm not sure if you are making more at this stage... But if you are I'd like to suggest a feelings/emotions topic. And if not we have enjoyed what is here. Thanks Sophie
Hi would you consider uploading some videos modelling simple sentences for carers covering the scenarios we may face? (e.g. “Here is your medication”, “I’ll call the doctor”, “How are you feeling?” “What would you like to wear today?” “Do you need to use the toilet?” Etc)
Unfortunately I don't know that sign. O will look it up and maybe feature it in a Makaton topic video on the garden. You could always use the sign for a fly and use that. Remember that Makaton is in addition to talk and not a replacement.
Please could tell me if you sale videos with you signing the makaton if how much because I would to buy a lot from you please could you let me know please thanks x
www.makaton.org Shop there it's a registered charity. I'm not affiliated nor am I a teacher. I just a father who learned to sign to his son. Best of luck and thank you for watching
Is it all context based then? It's very strange to me that there's no difference between "here is your sister's drink of milk" and "here your sister is drinking milk", among other possible meanings. Seems you can (or have to) miss out a lot of verbs, prepositions, articles, etc when making sentences in Makaton. Is this part of the function of Makaton to simplify language?
Makaton does not replace words. It is used while speaking. Picking out the useful words from a sentence. Its major use is with people that are none verbal or have limited verbal ability. Simplicity is key. But it has to be used with words. It is a complimentary language system.
@@teamnoble9715Oh now I get it. To what extent are Makaton signs based on BSL? There's a lot more resources out there for BSL. Could I learn words in BSL to use in Makaton, or are there too many differences? (I can't find any books on Makaton, but there are some on BSL for special needs children)
while i get these simple sentences - the whole point is for children - some of these sentences like cleaning the car - i wont use with my 5 month old baby-

However, we are doing it right as I found out straight from one of a Makaton Charity Video. It is not a swear word. Swear word has two parts.
