On nightmare i make 5 rolls of firecrackers with 15 parts, and with a furnace mod get back 35 parts. I was using the painkiller method for influence, but now i have an easier method, ty for the content 🥳.
Idea for a follow up video I've always thought about. You can only go up to 9999 Influence before you stop earning. SO what would be good ways to "invest" your influence for future purchases? Like what could you spend it on that would allow you to save all that extra influence for later? One idea would be having the medical and booze enclaves. Buy up rucks of meds and ethanol from them to reduce your maxed out influence and make strong painkillers to sell later when you're running low on influence or need to make expensive purchases.
Yeah that method is extremely broken! Sometimes I'll make a rule with myself to ban that method when playing just because of how good it is, it almost makes me feel like I'm cheating haha. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for checking this one out too!
Honestly might use the parts method so I never have to worry about weapon repairs dipping into my toolkit resources (I use my vehicles as a mobile weapon) The influence is a nice bonus, and I usually have a chemist in my community anyway for Pharmacology
For the siege method, to make it easy, give all your survivors high caliber rifles, except for sharpshooters. I give them auto only guns. This strategy has made sieges a joke in LZ for me, and that's with maxed out noise/threat.
I'd never even considered guards with sharpshooting + rapid fire weapons, demobilizing most of the zombies that even make it into the base, great idea!
I’ve used the furnace and parts method before but it makes the game to easy imo. I play for the difficulty. Having said though, a furnace and killing the bandits for their guns/weapons for salvaging is part of the game so…
That's very fair to say. I myself also ban the use of this method in my playthroughs because nothing quite compares to it's efficiency in any way. I love playing for the difficulty too and think one of the best things about this game is the amount of challenge runs you can do. Thanks for watching the video!
Cleo, Haven, device. Kills all zeds in the perimeter of your base if you can supply water power and parts. Sure you need to complete a story to GET it, but when I did I farmed a whole bunch of the cores by simply uninstalling the base facility mid mission Edit; and I just got to where you mention the nerf. UL dropped that ball, a shame
Nice set of tricks! I'm only getting into the game and have had some resource issues so it's nice to have a get of jail card while still learning the ropes. I have come up with a few ways make the firecracker trick even faster and easier too though which may be useful. Firstly keep a good number of Firecrackers/Parts in stock, don't sell them all. This means when you start crafting each time you don't without needing to swap between the workshop/supply locker quickly while rebuilding the initial store. Secondly have your character walk to the Workshop themselves instead of activating it via the base menu in order that we don't need to reselect the Workshop each time. One less icon to find and click on for each use speeds things up a lot. Thirdly when you click on 'Craft Items, Produce Ammo' be careful not to move your cursor and use the scroll wheel so 'Craft Firecrackers' icon is below your cursor before clicking it. If you've done it right then you should just be able to loop through creating multiple firecrackers just by clicking the mouse button repeatedly, no need to move the mouse between each use. Just keep spamming the button while the mouse is still and it keeps churning out firecrackers. Finally add an autoclicker to the above if you want to fully automate each trip to the Workshop. I use Autohotkey2 for this and wrote a script which works well for me- will share it if that's okay?
you said that chemical cases have some guaranteed spawns and is that similar to other items? for example, i’ve been struggling to find toolboxes and scraps of circuitry but i’ve been looking in power outposts and garages and sheds
That's right, although cases of chemicals is the one of (if not the only) guaranteed loot container (in the white oil barrels), there are some specific types of containers in the game that have an almost guaranteed chance of getting specific things. If you're looking for circuitry I'd suggest looting these green square power boxes scattered throughout the map, you can find them in most towns/on the corner of some roads, any power box has a good chance. Toolboxs are a little bit more difficult, best places to look would be the autoshops or the trunks of cars. Hope that helps.
The parts and siege/influence farm seems exploitive, so the painkillers is still a more legitimate way of getting influence. Maybe the breadwinner of the game. But when you need expensive stuff like 50 cals and retraining manuals, I would use those strategies.
It should still work so long as you have the salvage furnace, bear in mind it makes firecrackers in bundles of 4 or 5 (more/less if you have the skill chemistry)
i just make luxury items in the still and sell them and i have enough inf without breaking the game... and check your survivors because they can catch plague during a siege...
That's always so annoying, it happens to me a lot but normally with some crouching, repositioning camera angles etc that seems to work. Can you destroy the beds facility? If you can and repositioning your camera/crouching doesn't work I'd probably suggest trying that.
Producing strong painkillers is an effective strategy for farming influence. To set this up, you’ll need both a Field Hospital and a Pharmacy, which together enable you to double the production of meds, chemicals, and alcohol jars. Ensure your team has the *Chemistry* skill upgraded to *Pharmacology* and it is best if U include survivors with hero bonuses that accelerate facility actions, such as *Setting the Pace* or *Work Schedule*. It's ideal if one survivor also has a *Scrum certification*, *Design*, or *Administration* as 5th skill. I have 5k of strong painkillers in my inventory and each time I need influence 20 of them will get you 500 influence. Selling parts isn't beneficial, as they're too valuable, and scrapping weapons for parts just to sell them, won’t be beneficial either.
That certainly is an effective method, thank you. Selling parts is beneficial though because this method ensures their infinite supply, they're no longer as precious a resource that we need to hold on to.
@@AlejandroRodriguez-nf8xc I know how to make ethanol. But your message implied that having 2 medical facilities (I interpreted pharmacy as the infirmary) doubles production of meds, chemicals and ethanol. Irc, you can't craft chemicals. Although, I can see how 2 would double medicine production. I forgot that was a feature of the infirmary/FH. But honestly, wouldn't a medicine garden be better than having 2 medical facilities?
@andrewwashere82 Yeah, you don't need a field hospital and an infirmary just one or the other. Matter of fact having double healing facilities would double the daily meds upkeep.
As a fan of the game who did not play over a year or two, will definitely give it a shot, thanks a lot for the video!

I guess the strong painkiller method is outdated.
I don't think it's outdated I just wanted to try and come up with a different strategy to getting influence, one that isn't talked about as much.
The parts and siege/influence farm seems exploitive, so the painkillers is still a more legitimate way of getting influence. Maybe the breadwinner of the game. But when you need expensive stuff like 50 cals and retraining manuals, I would use those strategies.
i just tried the parts method... craft for 13, scrap for 7 on Dread difficulty... did they patch it? that's a net loss in my eyes! xD
It should still work so long as you have the salvage furnace, bear in mind it makes firecrackers in bundles of 4 or 5 (more/less if you have the skill chemistry)
I sometimes just lower the difficulty to Green, move to Whitney field, then just move back to a harder map. Obviously cheating, but still. :P
Fair enough!

Im too lazy for all that. Think I'll stick with meds and stills.
@@stupidtoga3523 fair enough, but I think the parts method is about the laziest method you could possibly use (just a couple of button taps)

How do they both produce chemicals and ethanol?
@andrewwashere82
Ethanol you can produce with a level 2 Still.
You will need to set a Trader as your leader to be able to upgrade the Still.
